@@BitOutWolf There must be about 3 versions of it alone in the UK. On the subject of chimes, try to get yourself a copy of De Carle's "Watch & Clock Encyclopedia" which has a section on chimes. It doesn't have the 3 more unusual chimes on 20th Century French box wall clocks though. I have one of those clocks and would encourage you to look out for one. Many people would dismiss them and that's where YOU come in, armed with your knowledge! Count the gong rods and hammers on both sides, i.e. 8 at least on one side and of course the usual 4 for the strike on the other side. I have an American pen friend who is very knowledgeable about chimes and chiming clocks. He's on TH-cam, but concentrates here on his other passion: electric sirens.
Yes, I particularly love the American version, called the Elite Whittington, but no, it's rare to hear their version.
Yeah, I was quite surprised when I heard this version of Whittington on an urgos, I didn't know the American version was called Elite Whittington.
