Sadly, it's because Motorola didn't go with Gorilla Glass. They've gone with a Japanese manufacturer to produce the OLED panel and glass. The OLED panel is really high quality and offers an incredible viewing experience, but the glass unfortunately isn't the most scratch resistant. This is such a shame as cheaper offerings do come with Gorilla Glass even if it's a lower version, but Motorola did this to try cut the costs down for the buyer.

Now it’s Edge 40’s turn Yeah, screen might be the weakest point of the phone but everyone uses screen protectors on their devices even if it comes with victus protection that’s our typical Indian mentality so the overall cost cutting happened there with the same thought which I have in my mind. Instead of going with curved screen they could’ve chosen a flat screen with at least GG5 protection. their older generation phones are better with great screens and market leading protection years ago. Screen scratches at level 2 is very rare and disappointing it’s poled so it will scratch I guess. I will use this phone with a screen protector. Finding a screen protector for curved screen is again a challenging task. I have seen my cousins Pixel 7 pro screen protector which doesn’t fit well on to the screen. Will test & check my luck with my favorite Motorola again after one power which is still in working condition. I read somewhere that it's Panda Glass used. It was shocking to see it scratch at level 2. But if you buy Edge 40 then just install a good quality tempered glass screen protector.
I think they used the same material as their razr flip phones. A weak screen glass with poled will not be much durable in the long run especially when the phone is well exposed unlike their flip phones. They did extreme cost cutting here to make a budget device that looks way too premium. Nothing 1 is still a better choice than this beautiful yet fragile phone lol

I think that kind of physical quality test is intense but somehow it survived one test (bend test) And I would like to recommend trying other simple tests that we usually do or go through. Like dropping the phone from different heights to see at what height it will break when dropped. And for a screen test it will be better if you rup the phone on top of sand continuously (both back and front)to see whether it gets scratches easily or not These are the major problems faced by users like screen scratches and breaking of glass when dropped.. Anyways it was fun watching that phone getting tortured (which I'm going to buy afterwards) 👆👆🎉🎉
