This video is very well done, except I am basically dropped out when we are told we have to use the $270 microC compiler. Is there any way to get this working with XC8 compiler? I have been fiddling with PicKit 3 for several weeks, and have failed to have even one program work on it that I can measure results from.

MikroC is free for codes having 2K of program memory
And this controller will go in free
Its paid if your code takes more than 2k program memory
