As someone who plays a lot of Astra, one of astra's strongest features is just the fact that she is entirely global. If you don't think you're at the right site while defending, you simply do NOT need to rotate. You can get your team so many kills over the course of a match by just placing stars in ally lines of sight and pulling/concussing the instant the enemy appears on the minimap, in addition to a simple chokepoint smoke. They'll also just assume that you're with your team, so if they rotate, surprise 🎉

Astra is my main agent.. There is upside and downside with astra.. As an agent, astra is like sentinel.. You use stars for delay the push or combo it with your teammate utility. Let say, you want to place a star for pulling or stuning or even taking back the star... All this utility can give your team an advantage ... but as an astra you cant waste your star for your own play, especially when your teammate alive. When you taking that star back, you will get a long cooldown and that give you and your teammate a disadvantage. If you want to be an astra or controller as general, you need to be aware of what your teammate doing or need. Controller is the one who talk the most, because you are here for supporting your teammate to secure a round.
I wished she didn’t have cooldowns since her abilities are so limited. Imagine being able to do 4 stuns in site or put a bunch of Pulls? 😂
Imo would be balanced because then you know that’s all her utility for that round, meaning no more smokes or anything else after that.

@@Uelrpzd Phoenix has a passive, Sage and Skye also have a passive, Yoru has a situational passive.
Basically half of the Radiant characters have a passive to make their kits whole. If Jett couldn’t glide her kit would be almost useless, if Phoenix couldn’t heal his playerbase would probably complain about how bad his molly is and Sage + Skye players wouldn’t be able to see who needs health.
Again, Yoru’s passive only works against other Yorus by being able to know when they have an active TP, I wished it worked on his clones too so Yoru’s could counter each other but most people would hate that idea 😂

@@TheChosenOne1_ it’s an active ability, baiting enemies pretending to be a clone isn’t a passive, it’s just an outplay.

Ppl overcomplicate Astra. As a pre buff Cypher main, playing her for the first time literally one day after her nerf(unlucky af I know 😂) I don’t think she is that hard to play, heck I was able to pick her up after 2 comp matches and learned tricks like these after around 4 hours of playing her.
For newer players: Do not be intimidated by her kit. Once you realise she is a dual stage agent: Deploy and Activate, you’ll be able to use her kit very fluidly. I personally like to play aggressively with her because pre-placing your abilities telegraphs what you can do too much and isn’t that good without a coordinated team. Duelist Astra is THE way to play her if you’re starting off with her or don’t have a team try harding. To play her as a duelist, peek to gain info and then deploy stars as a way to react to that information.
astra is difficult to use. all her ability is related to star which makes it so unpredictable for her teammates to know what play she is making. she has to make good call and coordinate with teammaes to make best play.
I mean, there’s mics in game for a reason. Also it’s not to hard to tell whether a star will be used for a smoke or a suck/stun depending on where it’s placed. If you see it in a choke point, probably a smoke if it’s past a smoke or next to bomb probably a suck and if it’s in a common angle/corner then it’s probably a stun

We placed 4 or 5 stars and ran inside site with this.( Bronze lobby )
Tried to main her. She's fun and challenging but often it's easy to overthink her ability and forget the actual part of shooting enemy :(

The rare time when I have an astra in my team is the ones who forget they have abilities and set up the stars and never use an ability 💀💀💀
Did you know that killjoy has an extra ability on her F. Yea those nano grenades you throw, you can actually detonate them.
Did you know that Chamber has an extra ability on his F. Yea his utility, he can pick it back up, and use it again later in the round.
Did you know that Yoru has an extra ability on his F. Yea on his teleport or clone. You can fake a teleport, or summon your clone in a the spot you chose.
Did you know that even Cypher has an extra ability on his F. Yeah on his tripwire, cypher cage and his camera. You can pick your tripwire without any cooldown time and also pick your camera which can be placed again after some time during the round, and this F can also trigger the cage once the cage is placed during the round.
Fun fact: If you accidentaly drop the cypher cage before the round starts, you can pick up that cage using F
2 things
1. Never go b link to b on pearl, especially with more than 1 or 2 people (it is the worst way to push a site in the game)
2. The fake smoke by ramp can be used not only to cross but also to fake a cross and threaten the defenders (they have to walk way up to check if someone actually crossed (they wont) much like a yoru tp)
I've been waiting a very long time for Astra buffs, and I now fear that they may never come.

I am a laptop player with [Intel core i7. 8GB ram. and graphics card is NVIDIA Geforce GT 755M]
i have around 150FPS at the starting of the round, and when i encounter an enemy and start shooting it drops to 45FPS. and after 1min or something it returns backs to 150 stays there for 1min and then again back to 50FPS something. IDK what to do, i thought it was due to overheating issues, so i bought an external cooler. but it still doesnt make it, why does this happen please help me........
And if you predict where players would be while attacking....which is just game sense....you can give a lotta punishment using her stars

Here’s one trick for astra players, don’t use astra unless you’re in a 5 stack with players that will coordinate with you, even in 500 RR immortal 3 we still don’t coordinate a lot of the time 😂
I like playing Astra but when you are dropping stars you can't hear anything and it sucks
astra is super fun to play and you'll be surprised how much value you can bring to the team once you understand her kit :D
I think a better tip would be to take advantage of the fact that she can smoke from ANYWHERE.
Yeah you really need to be creative when playing her like if I'm only a little bit more fast at placing the stars I'm sure I can make chaos and support my team at the same time.
I'm bad at shooting tho but an monster at timing and skill, ability or utility usage as long as I know we're the utility will land.
When forced to play smoke i play astra 100% i feel like shes stronger than most controller agents
I used to main Astra before she got nerfed. After the nerf she was playable but her smoke CDs were too long for me so I had to stop playing her. I do play her sometimes but only on Haven
I refuse to even unlock Astra, the sole reason is because she's black and yes if i had a choice i would lock pheonix i never played pheonix tho
As an Astra main, I've used this so many times and because of it I've been able to win some rounds and get a few kills

I used it once to bait someone from far away, making them think i was in astral form far away, then i shot them then i died 💀
Me who uses all stars and retrieves them at the start of the round so i can plant in the first 10 seconds because im permanently bronze

just recently found your channel and it’s been a help, gonna start watching more videos so i can improve. i just started playing val a month ago, and astra was the first character i got so i’ve been trying. i still struggle a bit with keeping my cross hair up amongst other things but, this video gives me hope!
