    JPEG is one ,if the only , of the people who i strongly identify to. When i discovered him i thought he was more of a pessimist, in the way that he looks bored at anything. But when you look at his more serious interviews, he takes the time to understand and think about the questions that we ask him. I think that's a proof of respect, maturity(but not too much:)), and intelligence.

    Is he saying white people in general aren’t his intended audience? or that people who don’t understand racism aren’t his target audience. If he’s saying white people in general, then I find that super interesting. It would then mean that Melons review would be some what invalidated in Peggys eyes. (Not saying this is even a bad thing, just opening a discussion. It seems to me that far too many white people consume black media without giving thought to what it really means so I can totally understand it if true)

    • @lucyasthma6605
      @lucyasthma6605 3 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    • @differentbutsimilar7893
      @differentbutsimilar7893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      It's interesting... I can't imagine fully enjoying his music without being up on our racism problem. You just wouldn't know what he was talking about half of the time. His production is tight, but it's not exactly easy listening. It's kinda not gonna be accessible to you at all unless you already like weird rap. It's great, because when I listen to something like "Jesus forgive me, I am a thot" I just know it's the total opposite of what someone willfully ignorant to those issues would listen to. Can you picture the stereotypical racist character listening to that? It's almost like it's engineered to be as unappealing to that guy as humanly possible.
      It kinda reminds me of the early black metal guys. I'm dusty on this... but basically what some of them would do with the depressing lyrics, grotesque imagery, raw and almost unmusical production was to put out a little beacon. It was all engineered to say "THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. WE WANT YOU TO WANT TO KILL YOURSELF WHEN YOU HEAR IT." It was for them, and people who understood what they were about. Nobody else. So the sound was like a calling card for people who thought similarly among a larger majority that didn't think like them at all. "Normies" with very different lifestyles and politics, that the black metal crowd were fundamentally not compatible with. It was for people who were growing nihilistically dejected with the state of their society, the things people abode and the ways they lived. I don't know if I agree with them on their reasons or not (they've got a lot of genuinely creepy ideas that they're quite serious about,) but surprisingly similar to what I think Peggy is kinda going for. It's clever, and it does work.
      But I guess conservatives loved RATM forever, huge RATM boners for a decade only to come out in mass disappointment after discovering their political leanings. How it took em that long, man... I just. I just with people.
