Been done at least once before. Mad World had an upbeat version before the soul wrecker of the slow version that's usually thought of when the song gets mentioned. The 'other' version is... different. Not exactly bad, but after having been more familiar with the sadder one, it's a little odd when they're singing in an upbeat tone with a catchy beat about how the dreams in which they're dying are the best they've ever had. Product of its time, I guess.
