    The Hollars are in my prayers. Sweet dear folks. Watching their video broke my heart. Nice to hear an update on y'all. You do seem a bit more surreal in light of the new challenges you are facing. Aging of myself and my loved ones has done that to me and turned me into more of a prayer warrior. Trusting that God is in control and cares is comforting. My prayers are with you. ❤🙏

    Two years ago I stopped my gardening. Age, severe arthritis and an autoimmune disease made it impossible to keep up. This year I have a garden again. It is small but I managed to grow a bit of our needs. We are still picking some peas, green beans are going strong. We have potatoes, carrotts, zuchini, some squash, eggplant t, tomatoes, peppers and even a pumpkin vine. Waiting patiently for the cauliflower, cabbage and a few other things. It is not a huge garden but a collection of little gardens in many spots. I find it easier to take care of this way and it is also easier for me to delegate and teach my grown daughters the ropes. My husband is not able to do much more than help water when needed because his own health issues. We had planned to relocate to NC but that had to be placed on hold due to some health emergencies and of course this virus which makes getting anything done much harder. The plan now is to put the house on the market next spring but we will see what happens. Having good healthcare is paramount.

    Prayers to Meg and Ben. I beg to differ about verbalizing anxiety and depression. The best therapy is prayer, and the best therapy for me is not necessarily the same as it is for ANYONE ELSE. For me, Wallowing in it makes things so much worse for me. As an introvert, I take it to God and let him lead me.

      That’s such a thoughtful response. We all must process the grief in our own way. You can’t force someone to be forthcoming. I do know that the grieving don’t need to take on the burden of gratitude--people responding to their perceived needs. It is not easy. Got to give people space.

      I know and simply caution as a 47 yr experienced RN, MSN and Christian, that as you maneuver todays educational system (which I have recently dealt with at UVA) you remember the undue influence of forces in that system which deny Him and focus on the "science" alone. I would rely on God much more than those writing the latest version of the DSM texts. Bless you both, and look forward to you resting, and getting back to a reasonable plan for dealing w your MO place.

      Yeah, I dropped a Benjamin on them as soon as I heard. Also made a fairly long post/comment that if all subscribers that they have would please just send even $5.00 they could buy anything they wanted/needed with cash, and could build a nice house with the rest. With nearly 100k subscribers, if even 20% will send that will give them enough for the best large suv/truck they want.
      I'm like so many other seniors that think of them like their own kids. I sort of did what they are doing 30 years ago. I keep saying every time he does a project, "why didn't I think of that!!" Of course I didn't have his skills or strength. I just hope no problems pop up in a couple years. I still suffer from severe back pain from a motorcycle accident, where I was rear ended. I just have to put up with it. The ortho doc wanted to do fusion but my cardiologist said no way. So is life. And wish you both good luck in whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will work out for the best.

    Thank you for addressing you can grow wherever you are and age doesn’t matter. I’m 62, live in town, have five 4x8 veg boxes, six half wine barrels, grapes, espalier apples, a pear tree kept small with intensive pruning, easy maintenance raspberries (mow down in the fall) and a potted blackberry bush, all on a small lot. Im not bragging, my point is you can grow wherever you are, even if it’s an apt. balcony and just have room for a pot or two. I enjoy preserving what we grow so the farmers markets and produce stands provide what we can’t grow enough of. Thank you for your encouraging messages. Blessings.

I am sorry for anyone suffering through corona .i have tumours on my pancreas but these let’s fund everyone wow .makes me so mad.i hark back to art and bri everyone funded the mould issue which turned into a total home rebuild. And here we are and they are s till living in the camper . Oh wait let’s not forget the Rhodes brining up the rear and recusing everyone. I am all for charity I am all for spreading love and good will but please give to those who are homeless or even animal welfare . Rant over and btw anyone who doesn’t like what I have to say need not respond because nothing you say has any impact on me when there are far more pressing issues in the world today or hey why not join the BLACK LIVES MATTER. Now I have some lovely veggies that i eat each day and while i tend to my garden i imagine it’s one of my “homesteading” daily chores 😉😋. It so helps me relax, recharge and smile 😁😁😁. I agree, no matter ins coverage ins company is out to screw us unless your hit by a company vehicle it can take 2 years to settle, only people that have had to deal with ins understand. Tell them to say no to first offer for vehicle. They will offer more on the second. Have to find like vehicles with prices to tell ins cant replace for first offer. I love the Hollars to.

    • @tomrausch7014
      @tomrausch7014 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely say no to their first (final offer). In Oregon you can take they amount they offer without closing the claim. Also you NEED to be physically injured for any lawyer to take the suit.
      What USAA paid out was $5 K more than their first offer and probably another $5 K short of what it should have been. My wife made me close the claim as the stress on me was too great having already dealing with MS. IMO USAA’s effort to find a comparable price was criminal as in some compareables were regular minivans and not highly modified lowered floor ramp vans....yes, I’m still angry. They should make you whole. That’s the purpose behind insurance. They should also pay for your time to find a replacement vehicle.

    What THEY are going through?

  • @tomrausch7014
    @tomrausch7014 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They can be grateful they didn’t own a specialty vehicle such as a lowered floor wheelchair ramp van such as my last 2 that were totaled by other drivers, one a drunk and the other a crazy lady, (cops words). Though Sasquatch may have been on the rarer side with the Diesel engine it’s easier for insurance companies to give decent renumeration. Also a temporary vehicle is much easier to obtain as big vehicles are common.
    There’s no way to explain how an accident can be in slow motion then fast motion. This is what I experienced both times. Though it feels like slow motion at first there often is nothing that can be done to avoid another driver coming right at.you. I’d bet that Ben was the only one who saw the other vehicle approaching and probably saved greater injury by turning slightly to avoid a true 90 degree T-Bone.
    (I have no kind words for insurance companies as both accidents on their at fault end were handled very badly). You shouldn’t have to call the State Insurance Commissioner as I did both times.

    I understand the bonding you TH-cam creators have. After all, you not only develope your own 'professional' bond but many of you personally take time to pitch in and help one another. That's great!
    BUT to ask your viewers to potentially reach in their pockets to help buy them a new vehicle? 🤔 We are trying to live debt free, as well. We do not have TH-cam creators coming to help do repairs/remodeling on our homes. We do not make an income from TH-cam, either.
    I would just like to know where you get the idea subscribers should be solicited for funds for TH-cam creators?
    Creators are already selling merchandise to make income in addition to what TH-cam is paying them. They ask for Patreon Supporters for additional funding. Perhaps selling classes to special learning topics. Many women are selling soaps and men their woodworking merchandise.
    I just think their comes a time to do the 'right' thing rather than just ask for money.
    What happened to homesteaders like the 'Stivers' who work in addition to homesteading? Or Lori and Mr Brown at Whipperwill Hollar.? They both work and are older, in addition to homesteading. Not having a 'regular' income in addition to homesteading and TH-cam is a conscious decision people make that come with advantages a d disadvantages each family makes for themselves.

      If you have any knowledge of the Hollar Family, then you will know that their work ethic is OFF THE CHARTS. They have helped the hosts of this channel, Justin Rhodes, The Fit Farmer, Art and Bri and others in the homesteading community and made tremendous progress on their new property in the past year. They are currently a family a 6, and Meg is 8 months pregnant with a 5th. They were all going to an OBGYN for a baby appointment in their Ford Excursion when they were t-boned. A neighbor has loaned them a vehicle for the short term until everything can be resolved. But, I hope you can recognize that regardless of where/how they earn their income, having an entire family in a serious car accident that rolls a 7000 lb vehicle and totals it, is a legitimate life event that calls for support, encouragement and a helping hand if people are led to do it. That's all the hosts of this channel were communicating. Support can be a kind word, a hug, a check in to see if someone can run errands for them, prepare some food, etc. No one is asking you or anyone else to contribute financially beyond your means, or at all.

      Jim and Rhenda were the recipients of the Hollar's help when they were forced to fix up their property to be able to sell it. They also supposedly did not have the finances to do it without help.
