Back in my early teens I was a member of the Central Indiana Boy Scout band. We had a Dixieland combo that I was lucky enough to be the drummer for. We played at all type of events. This song was always a crowd favorite. 🥁😎☮️🥁

I was told in Preservation Hall that the difference between N'Orleans Style and Dixieland besides the white Dixieland players being paid twice what the "colored" N'Orleans style players got is that Dixieland plays the notes as written but N'Orleans style knows that the written notes are just an approximation of the real music. This makes the difference obvious.

Without doubt the most corny and worst version of Tiger Rag i've ever heard. I'm sure that they are good musicians, but come on guys, stick to doing what you do best! And including an organ?? why not try a banjo player in a symphony orchestra?

A banjo in a symphony orchestra? Sounds like a good idea.

It's not uncommon to use an organ with an orchestra, or a dance band, especially back in the 20s and 30s.

@@OrganMusicYT Circus bands sometimes used calliopes with their bands. If they had the right air calliope. There were two main brands Tangley and National. I don't remember which was which but one was Strictly a solo instrument and the other was in tune. The Wenatchee Youth Circus may still use theirs as part of the band.
Steam calliopes were mostly good for things like letting everyone know that there was something happening at the fairgrounds 5 miles out of town and making sure that no one was asleep within 10 miles.
By the way most places, like riverboats calliope is 4 syllables ca lie oh pee like the Greek muse. On a circus it is 3 syllables ca lee ope

The LEGENDARY HARRY RESER of Banjo fame, died in the Orchestra pit at the premiere of Fiddler on the Roof. So much for not having a Banjo in an Orchestra!

@@davidlogansr8007 banjo was pretty common in dance orchestras too, helping the rhythm along.
