WE were all so very young when this song came out. It was the year I turned 18. I was married and my husband had turned 21. It was the year in Canada that the age to go to a bar or pub as we called it, was lowered to 18, ironically just after he turned the old legal age of 21. So that year we could both legally drink alcohol. He did not think it was funny at all. We managed to stay married quite happily for 35 years. To my surprise, he called it quits and the joke was on me as the BEEGEEs sang. Still love him and I’m 73 this year. Still love Neil and this song.

@@lilpoohbear653 that's how it was then; you had to be damn good to make it; Elvis is the only other from that time that i can think of who only needed himself to put on one hell of a performance - no strobe lights & smoke, no help to powerfully elt out a song
76 and still enjoying the music ❤
I love all these comments but don’t see many young people so I’ll just say: I’m 20, and this is one of my favourite songs. Neil Diamond is a legend
this song never gets old..
Gary Simms 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Exactly, only us old wrinklies are getting old.
Gary Simms Amen to that

Absolute CLASSIC. Still get goosebumps from this song and it's my "go to" song to sing to myself when I get stressed out (hey, it helps!) : )
Join you there Hazel. Rock on.
One of the most under appreciated singers in our history of music in this country IMO.
Hi Linda💐💐
I'm turning 74 in 2 months this song makes me so happy I listen to it daily more than once . Thanks to utube
This record is 47 years old and yet ageless! Still sounding great after so many years!
You Gone And Made Me Feel Old And Good..............
So very true, ageless
Great songs never die, right ?
The guy singing it is 76 now, and he can still sound nearly as great. A song about wine. Look it up !
He's got Parkinson's Disease
Sorry to hear today of his Parkinson's. Such an amazing performer. Wish you the best, Neil Diamond!!
Made me so sad to watch him on Times Square on New Eves Year 2018 with the mic shaking in his hands.💔 So, so sad. We are all getting older.

Love it! Takes me back to the good old days of bell bottoms, long sideburns, trumpets and trombones. I was in the first grade when this came out. Wonderful memories.

My older brother loved this song, and so do I. I remember going to meet his ship when he was in the Navy. He died a little over a year ago.Three months after his wife. I cry everything I play it, but it makes me feel like he is with me.
🙏
Sorry for your loss
Music isn't a generational thing... I'm 41. Good music is good music, period. Most music I listen to is from the 30's through the 70's. I love the 80's too. From Sinatra to Skynyrd, I welcome it all.
I remember taking a girl named Cathy to the Persimmon Festival and we had a unforgettable night that night! Neil was singing this song and we were laughing and singing along. His music was great and she gave a lifetime of memories. Rock on Cathy!!!
What an extraordinarily talented man, Neil Diamond is! One of the most gifted singer/songwriters of our generation, and we've been SO blessed to have him and his music to enjoy!😄💒

When you're 14 and you listen to this song when it first aired, you think everything is going to be good for the rest of your life.
It definitely is an uplifting tune!
Clasica
That's a perfect description, absolutely...
The greatest male singer of the most wonderful and timeless songs of my generation. I had the privilege of visiting with him in 1970 and have cheered to Sweet Caroline ever since.
My favorite song of Neil Diamond. Thank you for posting!
Absolutely covered in goosebumps from head to toe right now.
God ! I miss the 70's.

I was only ten in 1970....love this fun, uplifting song. Never saw Neil in concert....he's a living legend!!!
Me too! Saved my pocket money to buy it
Neil Diamond was and is a genius in music! No one compares.
But he never offered to die on a cross to save us from our sins. He can't save our soul like my Jesus can.
The man is a music legend, his songs open doors to otherworldly dreams and memories
Niel Diamond
You broth so many joy with your songs. I,m a Big fan. I pray for you.
Lovely comment mscordially
the man makes you remember people you never met at places you've mever been while you sing songs you've never heard
MsCordially the tunes he wrote are true Diamonds. (See what I did there?)
It's not Biblical. He can't save your soul. Only Jesus Christ can do that.

Cracklin' Rosie, get on board
We're gonna ride till there ain't no more to go
Taking it slow
Lord, don't you know
Have me a time with a poor man's lady
Hitchin' on a twilight train
Ain't nothing there that I care to take along
Maybe a song
To sing when I want
Don't need to say please to no man for a happy tune
Oh, I love my Rosie child
She got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin' Rosie you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now
Play it now
Play it now, my baby
Cracklin' Rosie, make me a smile
God if it lasts for an hour, that's all right
We got all night
To set the world right
Find us a dream that don't asks no questions, yeah

Who would believe that was 49 years ago and still a classic.
AvionicsGuru the year I was born. Love this song
@Edward Martinez
PURE.
And his clothes are on and he's not hollering all over the place.
He's SEATED and yet he projects sex appeal and class.
Neil wrote some awesome tunes back in the day!!!
The sixties and early seventies were the best ,they will always be classic !
And it's still 1,000 times better than anything out today! 💖
I wasn’t even born when this was out love it 🏴
When your born with the name, Neil Diamond, how could you not be a star ?
Thomas Furlan probably not his real name
shining bright
NOT his birth name.
Ernest Kovach it is his birth name

Thanks for your service!! God bless our Vietnam Vets
I never get tired of this music. Even cowboys dig it!
"Cracklin Rosie, you are a store bought woman" is the sentence that made me realize it was not about a girl but a bottle of booze. Neil Diamond's style is unmistakable and this song is still very good to hear, a timeless song.
Never even thought about that. But it does seem to fit the part about Rosie being store bought. 😚
In this version he gives an explanation on how he came up with Cracklin Rosie wine and turned it into a song. th-cam.com/video/3OGK3j4t90s/w-d-xo.html
His mom's name is Rosie

We set the world right November 5
I grew up with Neil Diamond in my deep, early subconscious mind. When I was under 5, he and Elton John played as a soundtrack. AM radio in LA, early 70's. One great era for songwriting and song crafting. Thanks Neil!
"Let me add Carole King and David Bowie, just for the heck....
Crackling' Rose... About a bottle of wine!!!
You're the man Neil!!😅😅✌
Love this song. Brings back very special memories ❤
