Such a well done documentary, excellent job guys! That mountain is definitely no joke, you did an outstanding job showcasing just how difficult it is to summit. Such an awesome experience for all of you, and I hope you take another shot at it again some day
    God bless!

Thank you for your honesty and you love for the Lord. I am considering this trip and your video gives me some things to consider.

The view from Volcanic Park is amazing. I beleive Volcanic Park is like 7000ft above sea level.

You did the right call! A few years back I tried to climb Nevado de Toluca in Mexico (4,680 msnm), we started 4 friends, at 4,500 msnm aprox. I was the only one in a 50 degree slope, my head was exploding (we went from 1,000 msnm to 4,500 the same day!). I was just a few meters away from "El paso del buey" but I had to made the same decision you made. I don't regret it... that year 10 persons died in that same mountain...

It's too bad these videos never show the beautiful, magical forests that surround these peaks.

Clinton Munn hey thanks a bunch!! Before the hike I was training a good bit within the area we lived. We were at about 5,000 feet elevation during the training and it consisted of cardio workouts and hiking a nearby mountain (roughly 600ft elevation gain). With Experience - I have hiked multiple 14ers in Colorado and just general all around hiking in other places.

Nice! Thanks for the reply! I plan on doing this in late December. I've done some hikes in Nepal but nothing that high. I am currently training 5 days a week to get myself in the best possible shape for this. I have no previous experience with this type of hike or altitude though. But I'm hoping I can summit. If you give it a second shot let me know how it goes, Cheers!

Clinton Munn what altitude are you training at? And how long are you allowing yourself to be on the mountain?

I am located in Montreal, so there isn't much around here apart from Mount Washington which isn't very high, but it's a challenging hike. I'll be preparing for 6 days doing gradual acclimation hikes slowly over time before base camp and the summit day. For now I'm just training 5 days a week and have a year to get in top notch shape. Let's see what happens :)
