So, obviously, the "lore" of saving is that Leon is recording what he's done so far/what has happened for whoever passes by to understand what has happened, and know how to proceed (in case he were to die). But since Mark seems to have a habit of instantly going to the Typewriter to save, then goes to his box to store some stuff, and then goes back to Typewriter to save again, I'm amused by the thought that Leon types up what happened so far, puts away some stuff, and then goes back onto the typewriter to say "And then I put some stuff into my box."
it genuinely makes me so sad how they put up a banner for leon and how his first mission was a fun little puzzle to get to know his coworkers names and they were all robbed of that innocence. it makes me so, so sad to think about. they all deserved better :c

@Adiv Dholakia and as for the zombie bite thing that is the case in this however 10% of the population is extremely resistant to the t-virus not immune just really resistant and Leon is part of that 10 percent plus while a zombie bite can infect someone and turn them into one there's actually a pretty low chance of that for the t-virus, zombie bites have always had low infection rates in Resident Evil because there's so many other ways it can be spread
@Adiv Dholakia yeah Leon and everyone else you play as in Resident Evil because that's one of the reasons why they're the main character because they're at the site of whatever hell umbrella has created in the particular Game you're playing and because they're part of the 10% that are resistant to whatever virus umbrella creates the fact that Leon was a cop was just to give him the slightest chance of not getting torn to pieces but not make it too easy for him (hence the reason they made him a rookie cop and not one used to his job) or at least that's my personal belief I'm sure someone who knows more about Resident Evil will come around and correct me

I am absolutely hollerng at the fact that no matter HOW MANY times the game shows that trying to knife a mobile zombie is a bad idea, Markiplier just straight up keeps dong it over and over, slowly whittling down the oh-so important knives for the first boss-fight. That and the fact that he kept running out of space but absolutely REFUSED to discard the items he doesn't even need. Lastly, his foreknowledge from playing the demo clashing with the sequence of events during the actual game is hilarious everytime, watching him run by the locker terminal he was looking for is just amazing.

Mark I’m just saying but to save room in your inventory you combine planks to board up windows, combine gunpowder to make ammo and combine herbs to create healing things. Also a tip: shoot the zombies in their legs/knees if you’re going to shoot them. It makes them slow and they don’t catch up to you as fast, also it saves you ammo. PLEASE like so Mark sees this. This video drove me crazy 😂

To be fair, it doesn't make much sense for a museum to be converted to a police station and keep all the lavish stuff on display. The creators of the original game even admitted they wanted the police station to be similar to the mansion in the first game.

I started watching 8 and didn't want to wait for the next upload so I watched all of 7 again. I'm behind on 8 now but I'm too invested in 2 to switch back. Brain power.
Its because of the Adaptive difficulty, if you play too good, the enemies will take more Headshots and such, but it you get bitten more and miss more shots, the game will be easier until you get good and then the game adjusts itself to be harder.

Context provides itself. Burger was... I don't know, it didn't look tasty, it looked effin disgusting for some reason. Second: Mark practically knew from the outset that it was a zombo, he even says it right after. Nothing to bat an eye about. Anyone who knows Resident Evil/Played the Original saw that coming.
The first time seeing the burger, it was close up and we couldn't tell what it was and, since this is a horror game about zombies, it looked like it could have been something that might have been a part of someone initially. I think that was the point though.
The zombie that got shot in the head in the cutscene actually gets back up if you look closely. Even in the RE1 remake, Barry had to shoot the first zombie three times with his ultra-powerful gun, so maybe T-virus zombies are just tougher.

My list of grievances is as such: 1: *SNORT THOSE HERBS, BOI!* -> Herbs are healing items, doncha know? Combining them turns them into better healing items, each color has its own special function 2: *Healing Spray is best for emergencies* -> It heals you completely, so only use it when you're at death's door. 3: *GUNPOWDER!* -> combine gunpowder to magic it into bullets. You like bullets, right? 4: *Board up those windows instead of running in circles screaming* -> Board up those windows instead of running in circles screaming 5: *That tip you clicked through without reading told you you can safely discard key items with check marks next to them* 6: *That pamphlet you clicked through told you why the police station is full of puzzles* 7: *That other pamphlet you clicked through told you about the herbs* 8: *That OTHER pamphlet you clicked through told you about the gunpowder* Mark, I get it, you blitzing through things in a haphazard fashion is part of your charm, but there is such a thing as too much. You're not on the 30 minute demo anymore, slow down and think and actually read all your journal stuff. If you continue at this pace and this plays anything like the original RE2, in the later levels you're going to hit a point at which you literally cannot advance further because you've squandered your resources and left yourself in a hole with no bullets and no medical supplies.
Most def agree with you Tanya. I get it, some people say that Mark can play how he wants, but it comes a point where you have to take games like this seriously.

@@kitsunami7251 back when I used to play RE games in my PS1, I never dropped or discarded anything, carrying a full inv around everywhere because of the "never gonna know how useful can it be" thing, I did get a nerve in some stuff he went blitzing through, but he plays it really good anyways, most people would get stuck thinking more rather than waltzing through the zombies and stuff, that makes it fun!

fun fact: Leon, and a few of the other people you play as in the games, are part of the 10% of the population, that have a natural Resistance or immunity to the t-virus that all of umbrellas bioweapons are at least partially based on, it's why they're the main characters, they can still get infected, but it's a lot harder, Jill is part of the 10% too, The only reason she got infected by Nemesis in re3, is he had a enhanced strain of the virus specially designed for a situation where he can't kill his target and needs to infect them instead, aka like Jill, and yes the herbs also weaken the effects of the infection a little bit while also promoting faster healing, I don't know for sure but I'm assuming the reason the herbs do that, is because they were tested on by umbrella, giving them certain abilities.

I thought I was going to sit and relax, and watch Mark play one of my favorite RE games. Instead I spent it screaming at my tv for Mark to discard the check marked items instead of taking space in his inventory. I’m only 1 hour and 20 minutes in, still stressed and waiting for him to realize
You can also combine 3 herbs into one thing. And you can combine herbs/gunpowder with ones currently in your inventory, you don't have to pick them up first. Green + Red + Blue is a full heal plus damage resistance. Green + Red is just a full heal. Green + Blue is a small heal and poison cure (no damage resist). Red + Blue is a damage resist but no heal.
Does the game ever tell you that after the initial part where it tells you about inventory management after the spade door? I didn't know about it until that popped up, but I saw mark ignore it and it disappeared. When he got the plank shortly afterwards, it didn't pop up. (I'm only watching up to as far as I get in the game myself, so I don't really spoil myself, so I don't know if it says it again later in the video)

im glad theres an assisted mode, I have one eye, so you know it makes seeing and shooting a bit hard so that aim helps,and i always need a bit more time to think and move due to nerve damage so that healing and weak enemies help a lot so i can play the game the same as everyone else! Using assisted mode doesnt mean your weak, or a pussy or not good at games, it mean you just need a lil help or want to play super casual
Amen! I just play on Assisted for my "achievement" playthroughs. Like Minimalist, (no item box) or Frugalist (No healing items used). I also just play on Assisted to feel stronger. Get a confidence boost while I play. To practice Hardcore mode strategies.
you know that truck driver just plowed a generic zombie with a goddamn tanker truck, and SOMEHOW, that wasnt enough to put it down. that pretty much confirms that the remake zombies do take more to kill to waste your ammo even further.
No kidding, some zombies literally take 15+ bullets to kill. I've had 4 headshots, come back, 4 more headshots, come back 5 more headshots then it's dead, but that's probably just because I got a "lucky" critical on the 13th bullet, because it definitely takes more sometimes. I gave up on headshots most of the time, body shots do the same damage, if it's only 1 Zombie it might be best to shoot the leg a few times and then knife it to death.

But my theory is because raccoons are known to be hostile and bite if have rabies and if they bite a thing it can spread the rabies to them. Raccoon city was where you were in the very first game. So i am guessing they just thought hey a zombie virus is kinda like a raccoon having rabies (besides the fact that it is the undead) so lets name it raccoon city. Just a theory. A dumb one.

Funnily enough, all those terrible live action Resident Evil movies were shot in and so "take place" in Toronto. So there's a silly coincidence of the Resident Evil franchise having zombie outbreaks take place in Not-Canada.

You are awesome Markiplier, every year around the anniversary of this, I come back and rewatch these. The reason is because 3 weeks prior to you releasing these, I was in the hospital recovering from a near fatal blood clot to my lung. I was afraid and depressed and anxiety through the roof, constantly was on my mind, but these took my mind off of it and gave me something to laugh about and every year I come back here and rewatch these because they are a reminder of when I started making a turn to get back up again after being knocked down and you helped with that. Hey Mark just for the heads up. You got four stories of in total for Leon and Claire. So like right now how you are playing as Leon you will get this mode once you beat it called “Second Run” mode where you will Play as Claire and see what she was up too during Leon’s Campaign. The same goes once you beat Claire and then you’ll get the REAL ENDING. So that way you know so no one wines to you and calls you a dingus
The game gives you a point-blank message about the 2nd Run mode when you finish your "A Scenario" so I'm not really sure how anyone can miss it. IGN's reviewer managed to, tho'... - Lewis
DEAD SHOT as somebody who never play the original version of this game i highly appreciate your comment and i’m glad i saw it so i can play the game multiple times and enjoy it all even more.
Mark, please don't skip the files and tips you get. You can discard items with a red tick mark, they serve no purpose. Combine 2 gunpowders for pistol ammo, 1 gunpowder and 1 high grade gunpowder for shotgun shells, and 1 high grades for magnum ammo. Board up broken windows and windows with zombies outside, else they'll keep spawning in. Only use first aid sprays when health is super low. if your hp is on "caution" a single green herb will do the trick. Don't try to melee zombies with a knife unless its the last thing you have, and have no place to run. You'll just end up getting grabbed by it.

It is so weird.... my first sighting of Leon was in RE4 and he looked like a young man there, but like, that kind of young that is just youthful you know? Like it’s clear he’s around 26-30 age range there. But here he looks like he’s just finishing puberty or at like at age 21 or so.... And it fits so well here cus with the high def detail Leon really looks much more alive and innocent compared to his later appearances which is more stiff.... they really nailed the feel of the lack of experience here, where as in the later games he has like, clearly quicker and calmer reactions, where here it’s like he’s hesitant to a degree... yaknow what I mean? I just love that they nailed the dynamics of his personality and the game itself seems spot on!
Leon is 21 in RE2, which takes place in 1998. In RE 4 he is 27, because that game takes place in 2004. And in RE 6 he is 36, because that takes place in 2013.

Mark has this very special power to essentially imprint his ideas into the minds of game devs. It was on display most notably in five nights at freddy’s, where everything from “baby” to “spider Freddy” (Molten Freddy’s spidery appendages) made it into a game.
"I don't know how these herbs work." *Reads note about herbs* *Completely messes up mixing and usage of herbs* *walks past a green herb with a B+R mix* "Can't possibly find a way to fit that herb in." Mark, you are going to continue to struggle at this rate. Read the notes, don't skip them. They have a lot of info one way or another.
The note doesn't say anything about mixing all 3 colors of herbs together. It only says to mix G and R to get a full heal and B and R to to cure poison and have a defense buff. There is literally no reason for Mark to logically think to mix 3 together when all references say to mix 2.
Unless you know, you want a full heal and Poison status cured. Because if you do a full heal while poisoned, it's absolutely tee-totally useless and a waste of a crucial healing item. We've all (Marki-moo included) only had from January 1998 to January 2019 to figure that out. Lol

This game is so detail oriented! Mark had 4 bullets left, and during the cutscene at the beginning, Leon fired a round into a zombie. No biggie, right? Well, when he arrived a the police station, he had 3 rounds, because he killed the zombie in the cutscene. I’ve never seen another game do that, it either keeps the rounds I had, or fully refills my ammo.

I am absolutely hollerng at the fact that no matter HOW MANY times the game shows that trying to knife a mobile zombie is a bad idea, Markiplier just straight up keeps dong it over and over, slowly whittling down the oh-so important knives for the first boss-fight. That and the fact that he kept running out of space but absolutely REFUSED to discard the items he doesn't even need. Lastly, his foreknowledge from playing the demo clashing with the sequence of events during the actual game is hilarious everytime, watching him run by the locker terminal he was looking for is just amazing.

Mark I’m just saying but to save room in your inventory you combine planks to board up windows, combine gunpowder to make ammo and combine herbs to create healing things. Also a tip: shoot the zombies in their legs/knees if you’re going to shoot them. It makes them slow and they don’t catch up to you as fast, also it saves you ammo.

To be fair, it doesn't make much sense for a museum to be converted to a police station and keep all the lavish stuff on display. The creators of the original game even admitted they wanted the police station to be similar to the mansion in the first game.

Its because of the Adaptive difficulty, if you play too good, the enemies will take more Headshots and such, but it you get bitten more and miss more shots, the game will be easier until you get good and then the game adjusts itself to be harder.

3: *GUNPOWDER!* -> combine gunpowder to magic it into bullets. You like bullets, right?

5: *That tip you clicked through without reading told you you can safely discard key items with check marks next to them*
6: *That pamphlet you clicked through told you why the police station is full of puzzles*

Mark, I get it, you blitzing through things in a haphazard fashion is part of your charm, but there is such a thing as too much. You're not on the 30 minute demo anymore, slow down and think and actually read all your journal stuff. If you continue at this pace and this plays anything like the original RE2, in the later levels you're going to hit a point at which you literally cannot advance further because you've squandered your resources and left yourself in a hole with no bullets and no medical supplies.
Most def agree with you Tanya. I get it, some people say that Mark can play how he wants, but it comes a point where you have to take games like this seriously.

fun fact: Leon, and a few of the other people you play as in the games, are part of the 10% of the population, that have a natural Resistance or immunity to the t-virus that all of umbrellas bioweapons are at least partially based on, it's why they're the main characters, they can still get infected, but it's a lot harder, Jill is part of the 10% too, The only reason she got infected by Nemesis in re3, is he had a enhanced strain of the virus specially designed for a situation where he can't kill his target and needs to infect them instead, aka like Jill, and yes the herbs also weaken the effects of the infection a little bit while also promoting faster healing, I don't know for sure but I'm assuming the reason the herbs do that, is because they were tested on by umbrella, giving them certain abilities.

Dogs still look like dogs but they actually recently updated the first cut scene with the driver in the truck
When you look in the model viewer, the player can observe Capcom went out of their way to make them male dogs. Other subtle details are how G1's foot is already mutated and his toenails are piercing through his shoes.

You can also combine 3 herbs into one thing. And you can combine herbs/gunpowder with ones currently in your inventory, you don't have to pick them up first.
Green + Red + Blue is a full heal plus damage resistance.
Green + Red is just a full heal.
Green + Blue is a small heal and poison cure (no damage resist).
Red + Blue is a damage resist but no heal.

Does the game ever tell you that after the initial part where it tells you about inventory management after the spade door? I didn't know about it until that popped up, but I saw mark ignore it and it disappeared. When he got the plank shortly afterwards, it didn't pop up. (I'm only watching up to as far as I get in the game myself, so I don't really spoil myself, so I don't know if it says it again later in the video)

im glad theres an assisted mode, I have one eye, so you know it makes seeing and shooting a bit hard so that aim helps,and i always need a bit more time to think and move due to nerve damage so that healing and weak enemies help a lot so i can play the game the same as everyone else!

I just play on Assisted for my "achievement" playthroughs. Like Minimalist, (no item box) or Frugalist (No healing items used). I also just play on Assisted to feel stronger. Get a confidence boost while I play. To practice Hardcore mode strategies.
you know that truck driver just plowed a generic zombie with a goddamn tanker truck, and SOMEHOW, that wasnt enough to put it down. that pretty much confirms that the remake zombies do take more to kill to waste your ammo even further.

No kidding, some zombies literally take 15+ bullets to kill. I've had 4 headshots, come back, 4 more headshots, come back 5 more headshots then it's dead, but that's probably just because I got a "lucky" critical on the 13th bullet, because it definitely takes more sometimes.
I gave up on headshots most of the time, body shots do the same damage, if it's only 1 Zombie it might be best to shoot the leg a few times and then knife it to death.

I just watched somebody complete this game with a pistol using headshots and body shots, no leg shots needed. So it's not really good to shoot their legs either.

I dunno, I killed everything in playthrough 1 and still had ammo left at the end of the game. Now 2nd run, that was where I never had enough ammo.

@thunderbat46 Oh everyone noticed, that is one of the most known things about the resident evil franchise. And why it is called raccoon city no one really knows. But my theory is because raccoons are known to be hostile and bite if have rabies and if they bite a thing it can spread the rabies to them. Raccoon city was where you were in the very first game. So i am guessing they just thought hey a zombie virus is kinda like a raccoon having rabies (besides the fact that it is the undead) so lets name it raccoon city. Just a theory. A dumb one.
@thunderbat46The Raccoon City skyline in the Remake is actually the city of Montreal. Specifically from a spot on Mount Royal overrun with fat, happy raccoons because tourists feed them all the time. Funnily enough, all those terrible live action Resident Evil movies were shot in and so "take place" in Toronto. So there's a silly coincidence of the Resident Evil franchise having zombie outbreaks take place in Not-Canada.

You are awesome Markiplier, every year around the anniversary of this, I come back and rewatch these. The reason is because 3 weeks prior to you releasing these, I was in the hospital recovering from a near fatal blood clot to my lung. I was afraid and depressed and anxiety through the roof, constantly was on my mind, but these took my mind off of it and gave me something to laugh about and every year I come back here and rewatch these because they are a reminder of when I started making a turn to get back up again after being knocked down and you helped with that. Hey Mark just for the heads up. You got four stories of in total for Leon and Claire. So like right now how you are playing as Leon you will get this mode once you beat it called “Second Run” mode where you will Play as Claire and see what she was up too during Leon’s Campaign. The same goes once you beat Claire and then you’ll get the REAL ENDING. So that way you know so no one wines to you and calls you a dingus
The game gives you a point-blank message about the 2nd Run mode when you finish your "A Scenario" so I'm not really sure how anyone can miss it. IGN's reviewer managed to, tho'...

You can discard items with a red tick mark, they serve no purpose.
Combine 2 gunpowders for pistol ammo, 1 gunpowder and 1 high grade gunpowder for shotgun shells, and 1 high grades for magnum ammo.
Board up broken windows and windows with zombies outside, else they'll keep spawning in.
Only use first aid sprays when health is super low. if your hp is on "caution" a single green herb will do the trick.
Don't try to melee zombies with a knife unless its the last thing you have, and have no place to run. You'll just end up getting grabbed by it.

It is so weird.... my first sighting of Leon was in RE4 and he looked like a young man there, but like, that kind of young that is just youthful you know? Like it’s clear he’s around 26-30 age range there.
But here he looks like he’s just finishing puberty or at like at age 21 or so....
And it fits so well here cus with the high def detail Leon really looks much more alive and innocent compared to his later appearances which is more stiff....
they really nailed the feel of the lack of experience here, where as in the later games he has like, clearly quicker and calmer reactions, where here it’s like he’s hesitant to a degree... yaknow what I mean?

Leon is 21 in RE2, which takes place in 1998. In RE 4 he is 27, because that game takes place in 2004. And in RE 6 he is 36, because that takes place in 2013.

Mark, you are going to continue to struggle at this rate. Read the notes, don't skip them. They have a lot of info one way or another.
The note doesn't say anything about mixing all 3 colors of herbs together. It only says to mix G and R to get a full heal and B and R to to cure poison and have a defense buff. There is literally no reason for Mark to logically think to mix 3 together when all references say to mix 2.
Unless you know, you want a full heal and Poison status cured. Because if you do a full heal while poisoned, it's absolutely tee-totally useless and a waste of a crucial healing item. We've all (Marki-moo included) only had from January 1998 to January 2019 to figure that out. Lol

This game is so detail oriented! Mark had 4 bullets left, and during the cutscene at the beginning, Leon fired a round into a zombie. No biggie, right? Well, when he arrived a the police station, he had 3 rounds, because he killed the zombie in the cutscene. I’ve never seen another game do that, it either keeps the rounds I had, or fully refills my ammo.
