Sadly Kourtney and Scott's reaction to Corey's hypothetical situation was the reaction they should have had to their daughter lashing out at the nanny. I can almost guarantee the nanny didn't just leave because the kid lashed out. She left because the parents showed her no support by disciplining their daughter when it happened.

Spankings are not beatings. Parents discipline their kids out of love so they don't turn into spoiled brats. Without discipline or facing any consequences, that's what a person is going to be. A brat. An unlikable person. If you don't discipline your child, you're a weak parent and you don't love your kid enough to make them a likeable person.

Discipline means communicating boundaries and general guidance in a gentle way.
If you have an argument with your partner, friend or adult family member do you spank them the moment the two of you dosagree or would you accept it if any of them spanked you? A child will learn nothing from being spanked, other than the parent can’t be trusted and that the parent is scary. Parenting isn’t about a child obeying the parent, parenting is about raising emotinally whole human beings that will be able to be self-dependent and future functional adults. It takes time and patience and spanking a child will not lead to anything healthy it’s simply about a parent getting their frustration out and to stop a behavior without communicating anything in a healthy way. The behavior only stops because the child is scared and in pain. Sure it doesn’t leave a physical mark, but it does leave inner wounds in the child that they do carry into adulthood and it comes out in various self-destructive ways.
It’s very frustrating to hear people reason the way you expressed, as if you getting spanked and others’ to is some sort of confirmation it is good parenting and neccessary. Raising children takes time and who says you should only have to say something once while the child’s brain is literslly developing. Their brain isn’t fully formed, unlike the parent’s brain. Please do not continue to entertain this physically harming children thing. Speak to them and have patience!❤

I wish I didn't eat SO much sugar growing up! I get why Kourtney is health conscious!
She doesn’t have the psychological understanding of how such a narrative and banning food and sweets, will do to her children. Total restriction leads to eating disorders such as overeating and it can also result in the opposite such as starvation etc.
Teaching your child mindful eating and allowing them to get to know their own hunger cues is important in order for the child to understand moderating their food intake and they will also naturally learn that sweets is something they can have sometimes. Parents who raise their children with judgment and guilt and who are very opinionated when it comes to physical appearance are usually the ones who have children that struggle with their weight as children and in adulthood. Courtney and Scott are also lacking when it comes to tending to emotions, so how are they going to guide their children through learning how to cope with their emotions?! They won’t! Their oldest seem to self-sooth by eating and all those years of havoc between the parents had a negative impact on him, which basically all kids would have.
By not teaching a child how to moderate they will binge those banned food whenever they visit relatives, friends or the other parent who doesn’t ban stuff. Usually those other adults will not put a restriction with the mindset ”the kid never get to eat that at home, so it’s fine”. Here a havit is being formed of the kid not knowing how to moderate it and it ventures into a mindset of all or nothing.
Too much unhealthy and too much sugar clearly isn’t good, but it doesn’t need to be either or. I studied psychology at university, and read many reports and lots of research on this specific subject.
