Very nice and solid tour! Thunderbird Resort and Casino (Santorini of Asia) is the first ever Santorini inspired resort in the Philippines since 2005/2006 and the only 5 star resort hotel in Northern Luzon that has been accredited by DOT. One of the movie settings of the highest grossing Filipino Film of 2011 "No Other Woman". It's also featured in different Filipino Movies/ TV series like My Amanda, Better Woman, First Yaya and the latest GMA TV series "Voltes V". It is located at Poro Point in the City of San Fernando, La Union with a land area of 65 hectares. Poro Point was a former US Military Air Base (Wallace Air Station).
Would love to visit this resort one time. Setting is great where the beach is at the back and housing and receiving area is in front just like any other resort in the north. A unique resort, something different from the other resorts in the Phil or in Asia.

Truee I think they lost the status way back. There’s been a change in management as well. Great place but poorly maintained rooms and amenities. The place is HUGE, I guess it’s hard to maintain/clean altogether
Santorini is overrated. Just went there few months ago. It's just white small like adobe housings or hotels that are overprice one after another. It is over crowded with tourists from the mainland and multiple cruise ships. At the other side of the island is barren and dry. With trash in the highways. A lot of donkeys there like more than 200 of them in a small island use to transport goods up to the hills. There are donkey poops in the cobble stone streets that are left to rot there and nobody wash it. There is no beach at the front where those white buildings are. It's a volcano caldera and no beach in sight. Maybe there are beaches at the other side of the island where there is barely anybody there.
i dont think it's a 5 star, the paint ang grass pa lang medyo sablay na, maybe a 3 star because i have seen 5 star resorts before in other countries and it is way way more beautiful than this
Thunderbird La Union is quite old already almost 20 years old. Maintaining such huge land area (65 hectares) is very difficult job to do, it requires a lot of work and money. In addition, there are a lot of calamities that strucked La Union yearly (Typhoons, Earthquakes etc.) that could caused widespread destruction. Nevertheless, during its prime years, it had already received a lot of recognitions and awards through different local, national and international organizations. It already received a Gold Award from Agoda PH years ago.
@ maybe so but you cant call it 5 star if you cant maintain it, i am pretty sure other 5 star hotels go through the same weather conditions as thunderbirds but they manage to keep its pristine look, anyways i do agree thunderbirds is one of the nice beach hotels i have stayed in during vacation in philippines with my family but like i said i dont see it as 5 star
@boengkap4942 but a lot of malls, fast food chains, supermarkets, resorts, hotels etc. around the globe did not survive during covid. Even in Manila area some malls, supermarkets, resorts etc. did not survive after covid and it went bankrupt. What matters most is Thunderbird La Union is still thriving and surviving on its 65 hectare land.
@@beyoualways4everwe are just talking about hotels/resorts, i dont think covid affected any big hotels in fact there are more new hotels in manila now than precovid
@boengkap4942 I'm just stating the real situation, I mean some but not most during covid. There were some luxurious hotel/ resorts in Manila that went bankrupt after covid because pandemic hits really hard during lockdown. A lot of businesses were really affected during pandemic and that's the reality.

Would love to visit this resort one time. Setting is great where the beach is at the back and housing and receiving area is in front just like any other resort in the north. A unique resort, something different from the other resorts in the Phil or in Asia.

The egg chef with 2 pans standing there doing nothing in front of 8 poorly pre cooked fried eggs. Literally takes minutes make a fry egg. Unbelievable

5 Star, I don't think so, it's a strong 3 star but definitely not a 5 star.
Truee I think they lost the status way back. There’s been a change in management as well. Great place but poorly maintained rooms and amenities. The place is HUGE, I guess it’s hard to maintain/clean altogether
I’m sorry but this is dumb! Why copy what’s already out there in Greece??? Why not create something that’s more local.
Santorini is overrated. Just went there few months ago. It's just white small like adobe housings or hotels that are overprice one after another. It is over crowded with tourists from the mainland and multiple cruise ships. At the other side of the island is barren and dry. With trash in the highways. A lot of donkeys there like more than 200 of them in a small island use to transport goods up to the hills. There are donkey poops in the cobble stone streets that are left to rot there and nobody wash it. There is no beach at the front where those white buildings are. It's a volcano caldera and no beach in sight. Maybe there are beaches at the other side of the island where there is barely anybody there.
i dont think it's a 5 star, the paint ang grass pa lang medyo sablay na, maybe a 3 star because i have seen 5 star resorts before in other countries and it is way way more beautiful than this
Thunderbird La Union is quite old already almost 20 years old. Maintaining such huge land area (65 hectares) is very difficult job to do, it requires a lot of work and money. In addition, there are a lot of calamities that strucked La Union yearly (Typhoons, Earthquakes etc.) that could caused widespread destruction. Nevertheless, during its prime years, it had already received a lot of recognitions and awards through different local, national and international organizations. It already received a Gold Award from Agoda PH years ago.
@ maybe so but you cant call it 5 star if you cant maintain it, i am pretty sure other 5 star hotels go through the same weather conditions as thunderbirds but they manage to keep its pristine look, anyways i do agree thunderbirds is one of the nice beach hotels i have stayed in during vacation in philippines with my family but like i said i dont see it as 5 star
@boengkap4942 but a lot of malls, fast food chains, supermarkets, resorts, hotels etc. around the globe did not survive during covid. Even in Manila area some malls, supermarkets, resorts etc. did not survive after covid and it went bankrupt. What matters most is Thunderbird La Union is still thriving and surviving on its 65 hectare land.
@@beyoualways4everwe are just talking about hotels/resorts, i dont think covid affected any big hotels in fact there are more new hotels in manila now than precovid
@boengkap4942 I'm just stating the real situation, I mean some but not most during covid. There were some luxurious hotel/ resorts in Manila that went bankrupt after covid because pandemic hits really hard during lockdown. A lot of businesses were really affected during pandemic and that's the reality.
