- A grateful Donald Trump was in Milwaukee on Monday to make final preparations for the Republican presidential nomination later this week after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt that he said presented an opportunity to bring the country together.
Trump, 78, was holding a campaign rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania - a key state in the Nov. 5 election - when a 20-year-old man with an AR-15-style rifle got close enough to shoot at the former Republican president from a rooftop.
One shot hit Trump's upper right ear, leaving his face streaked with blood, but he was not severely wounded. His campaign said he was doing fine.
International security expert Will Geddes joins Talk’s Alex Phillips to discuss this further.

I agree that diversity initiatives can sometimes go too far. It's not that we shouldn't have female bodyguards, but we should be confident that any woman in this role has earned it through exceptional skill and excellence, rather than fulfilling a quota.

I am a woman, several years ago when I was looking for work, I came across a job position that had the requirements: 'must be able to lift 50 pounds'. I am unable to constantly lift 50 lbs throughout a working day, so I didn't apply for that job. So, why were there short and petite Secret Service Agents who were attempting to bodily protect Donald Trump, who is a big man and over 6 feet tall?? Female or Male -- Secret Service Agents need to be capable of doing their job of protection.
The women officers were there to search civilian women.
Military experienced men should be doing this job but life is unfair and these girls get their 6 figure salaries for being cute just out of college with zero experience.

I could not find any height requirement for the secret service or homeland security. The fbi has no height requirement. It did up till 1975 and it was 5 7". The secret service should train short agents to get on the shoulders of other short agents to increase their height.

I mean i think it is a valid point. If you are meant to be protecting and shielding the whole body of a person and that person is 6 foot 2, you simply can't do that if your body is 5 foot 5.
