  • I only made this film, just to show how the aperture blades are taking out and put back in the lens again.
There was noting wrong with my lens, but there was NO repaire manual, so this is just my own experience, so I hope this film can help those who want's to repair there own lens with aperture problems.

This lens is one of my favourite old pieces of glass.....it has however developed some slight fungus, worse on the front element but appears on both front and rear lens . Thank you for making this video, it gave me the confidence to tackle the dismantling of the lens in order to clean it. :)

I would love to see fungus removal video of this lens. And re-greasing the focus mechanism.

    Dear Mikeno,
I am planning to dismantle the lens group of Nikkor 85 f1.4 Ai-s lens so as to clean up the dust particles. Do you have a motion lapse of it? As I am encountering that this lens always showing a focus shift on my Canon 1D3, I doubt whether the CRC mechanism of my lens has not engaged correctly .....
Thanks for all your videos as they taught me a lot of lens servicing.

You had the adapter for Nikon AI to Canon EF?
Nevertheless, just start out from the top and bottom.
AI & AIS lenses are better built than today plastic lenses.

Have you work on a VR 105 F2.8?

Well, as I said in the film, I have not found a service/repair manual for this lens, that's why I made this film.

Dear Mike, do you have a clue about how to disassemble an old Sigma 500mm 4.5 APO AF ? There's some haze, which I would like to clean off. I can't get to the section with the aperture.

There are not so many pictures about that lens, but I would guess you should get in from the bajonet...
Well, I just look around the net and found this very info, you maybe can use:

Thank you. Now I need to gather the strength and courage to tackle the lens again. ;)
It's a kind of pricey lens and I don't want to ruin it.

Wish you could show 'How to.." on Nikon 6mm/2.8 and 13mm/5.6.
Just was not sure if I wanted to tackle these rare lenses.
I found ATG from Alzo Digital, CT.
I had mine serviced by ATG for little bit over $5,000?

I will sooner show "how to" work with my old Nikkor 15mm 1:3.5, the focus ring need some new grease and some lens element cleaning.

I have the same two lenses! Dismantled each a couple of times. So easy now, threw away notes.
But I can make you some pics with my Phase ONE - (just finished tuning it up)
(Or, if you wait till I finish work on my Arri Alexa I can send you a nice clear video)
      Cheers
