Erm defense has a clear advantage so I’d say a bit of holding is ok. They literally can just bull rush and instantly win since o line has nothing to grasp on to except a shirt.

In my son’s league they have to show the use of different techniques getting past the olineman, so they don’t score points when simply bull rushing the opponent. In the end 5v5 is meant to improve technique on both sides of the ball. The rules are different to get them learning and using proper technique. The kids may hoot and holler when someone is pancaked or slammed to the ground, it’s high intensity, highlighting the real battle in the trenches, something that rarely gets the accolades they deserve and it’s also filled with massive alphas out there, I would be more concerned if they were just quietly going about their business. In the end it doesn’t mean they scored points so praise from teammates is what keeps them fighting. But I’m old so what do I know.

Lol nah. No way these OL are nationally recruited. half of them are standing straight up and crossing their feet over lol. these camps promote fighting after you make play and playing dirty. smh

It’s a lot different then real games
Size and overall athleticism plays more of a role than these camp performances. If a kid is 6’5 300+ and can move decently he’s going to get offers. I don’t care if he gets his ass whooped in every camp 1V1 he ever goes to, he will still get offers. College coaches can train the kids to be really good technique wise, but you can’t train a kid to be 6’5 with long arms and good natural strength/athleticism
