Pro Mixing Tip: Add THIS To Your Kick!

- In this mixing tutorial, I'll show you a quick and simple pro mixing tip on how to mix kicks so that they really cut through in the mix. The kick is the very foundation of your mix, so it is essential that your kick drum is sitting properly in the mix. This mixing trick works almost every time and is much quicker and easier than traditional kick layering.
When mixing music in FL Studio, Ableton, or whatever DAW you're using, you'll often experience that the kick just doesn't seem to work in the mix, and you'll end up replacing the kick countless times before you find one that you're happy with. A kick will often struggle to cut through in the top end once you start adding more sounds in the mix.
By layering in sounds with more transients, such as a closed hat, a clap, and such, you help boost the transients of the kick and allow it to cut through in the high-end. This will help add rhythm and movement in your song, and the mix will sound much cleaner overall. The kick is one of the most important elements in your mix, so it's essential that it works well in the mix.

I like using the noise gen in Serum for kick transients, then I use that for my side chain trigger as well
That works too! It's all about frequency, and adding what's "missing". It doesn't really matter what you use, as long as it works :)

Hello,thx for all the nice tips and trics for fls. I have a problem with my kicks? When i put effects on my kicks i hear a very light sizzling just after every beat when i turn the volume up. my kick sounds good but a few msec after the kick i get a little bit of soft sizzling. Sounds like beats beats beats in stead of beat beat beat. I already search for hours but always i get the s after the beat. Do you have an answer? Thx
