Kamala Harris’ quick rise to potential Democratic nominee has them wondering what to expect - and worrying about whether her presidency would bring Biden 2.0, a tack to the left or something else entirely."

Maybe you didn't get the memo. But this election is a very different bowl of soup. It is existential in nature: literally autocracy vs the America as we know it.
Maybe you missed that day in elementary school social studies class when we were told that The Puritans/ settlers left England primarilly to escape the rule of the king. America was set up to assure that there would be no king in our government. Hence the three branches and " Checks and Balances." Trump and his band of criminals want to move us away from our central founding tenet.
Sorry! Not feelin' living in the 18th century in Tzarist Russia.
So the election and who wins makes a whole lotta difference in the future of our nation and the quality of our daily lives.

As long as there are super PACs and Citizens united is in effect, Dems have to learn to “play” and balance the interests between corporations + selfish billionaires and the working class. It would be impractical and unwise not to counter the hundreds of millions of dollars that the GOP are getting from the billionaires and greedy corporations. The Dems have to align with the wealthy and corporations that are also aligned with the party’s interests. We cannot be always idealistic, the reality makes us pragmatic. I believe the citizens United and super PACs are this country ‘s downfall politically. Imagine, the wealthy 10% and selfish corporations can donate unlimited amount of money, hundreds of millions of dollars, either secretly and/or indirectly.
So if the Dems win the House and Senate, they should pass a bill that should reverse citizens United. Then maybe politics can become more fair and level the playing field.
As it is, the college electoral vote already skew the weight of individual voters. The votes of voters in small states. which are usually Republicans, have more weight than the populous states like CA and NY. This is true for presidential and state senators voting. For example, big states like CA have 2 senators, and “votes”, while smaller Dakota has 4 (North, South). While majority of the population usually agrees with the Democratic Party, the Senate is more often GOP majority. Democratic presidential candidate wins the popular vote but loses to a Republican candidate. That’s why the US is not really a democratic country.

As VP, Harris led a task force making recommendations for how to lower barriers to public _and_ private sector labor organizing.
In the year after agencies began implementing these recommendations, the number of federal employees who are dues paying members of a union increased by 20%.
As a U.S. Senator, she pushed back against Trump administration proposals to eliminate independent oversight protecting federal employees from political criteria trumping (pardon the pun) merit-based principles.
In the wake of the 2020 police murder of George Floyd, Harris was an original cosponsor of the Justice in Policing Act, which would have required federal law enforcement officers to wear body cameras, use de-escalation techniques and employ deadly force only as a last resort.
Near the end of her Senate tenure, Harris introduced the Asuncion Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act of 2020. This bill required safety standards for indoor and outdoor workers dealing with “excessive heat.” It also included provisions for education and response to heat illness and protections for whistleblowers.
United Farm Workers has issued a statement endorsing Harris for president, saying that as vice president, Harris advocated for legal protection for H-2A workers. This refers to the Farmworker Protection Rule proposed in April by the Department of Labor.
Following a vote of its Executive Council, which represents 60 unions and 12.5 million workers, on July 22 the AFL-CIO unanimously endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election.
According to the Tax Foundation, Harris has a record of favoring steeper tax hikes than Biden. From the TF Web site:
In her 2020 campaign and as a senator from California, Harris proposed multiple changes to the tax code, including:
    * Raising the top marginal income tax rate on the top 1 percent to 39.6 percent
    * Implementing a 4 percent “income-based premium” on households making more than $100,000 annually to pay for her version of “Medicare for All”
    * Creating a $3,000 refundable tax credit ($6,000 for married couples filing jointly) (the LIFT Act) for low- and middle-income taxpayers
    * Raising capital gains tax rates to ordinary income tax rates, though it is unclear if Harris would do so only on a subset of taxpayers
    * Raising the corporate income tax rate of 21 percent up to 35 percent
    * Expanding the estate tax
    * Imposing a financial transaction tax (FTT) on stock trades at 0.2 percent, bond trades at 0.1 percent, and derivative transactions at 0.002 percent
    * Creating a tax credit for rent payments made by renters who earn less than $100,000 and spend over 30 percent of their income on rent and utilities

Ana and Cenk, your segment was very interesting.
Ana, be mindful that your memories of the Bush era Republicans shouldn’t hinder party expansion when discussing their shift to voting for the Democratic Party. Cenk is right that the influx of new members hasn’t changed the party’s policies.
Ana and Cenk, you also need to ensure that clips like the one of Jim Kramer are properly contextualized, especially if he’s subtly undermining Vice President Harris. It’s crucial to clarify such nuances for your audience.
I don’t believe a President Kamala Harris would remove Lena Khan from her position, as this role is directly controlled by the executive branch, unlike justice-related issues.
Ana, I strongly disagree with your assessment that the Democratic Party doesn't support labor. President Biden recently stood on the picket lines with the labor union, demonstrating solid support. Your comments need to reflect these actions accurately. You may need to present a corrective segment to address this oversight.
Cenk, recalling the 15% minimum corporate tax was an amazing thing that was is much more outstanding than the credit the Biden/Harris Admin they have received for that law.
Overall, it was a good segment. However, be careful not to become passive observers. Your responsibility is to clarify what is being reported, helping voters understand their stance on candidates and issues. Misplaced words can be misleading, and it’s your duty to ensure clarity in your presentations.

As long as there are super PACs and Citizens united is in effect, Dems have to learn to “play” and balance the interests between corporations and the working class. It would be impractical and unwise not to counter the hundreds of millions of dollars that the GOP are getting from the billionaires and greedy corporations with the wealthy and corporations aligned with the Dems. We cannot be always idealistic, the reality make us pragmatic.
To me, the best solution is to reverse citizen United. I believe the downfall of this country’s politics is this Supreme Court decision that empowers the wealthy 10% and greedy corporations to choose the leaders, government officials, and lawmakers. Imagine individuals and corporations can donate unlimited amount, in 100’s millions dollars, even secretly, and indirectly through super PACs. So if the Dems win the House and Senate, they should pass bill that reverses citizens united and unlimited donations to super pacs.

Treasury has been doing ‘back door’ QE by issuing record amounts of short term debt. In other words, and contrary to the Fed, which has been trying to fight inflation by raising interest rates, and quantitative tightening; Treasury has printed $800B of short term notes to EASE financial conditions, to avoid recession during an election year, frankly. This is why most Americans would still state, correctly, that inflation is still high, and why investors have been shoved out further along the risk curve, which is good for equity (stock) markets. You guys should get Nuriel Roubini on, he just wrote a paper about this, which he has called Activist Treasury Issuance. NOBODY realises what is actually going on and how the Biden Admin has manipulated markets by doing this.
