  • Navin Kumar is a distinguished professional photographer renowned for his meditative monochrome work, characterized by a minimalist approach that transcends mere imagery to foster profound connections. His ability to extract poetic narratives from seemingly ordinary scenes of daily life sets him apart in the field. With a deep-seated passion for expressing his inner voice through photography, Navin's portfolio predominantly showcases human-centric visual tales set against the backdrop of India's diverse natural landscapes, both rural and urban.
Born on September 16, 1972, Navin's artistic journey traces back to his formative years, where his talent in painting and sketching garnered recognition through numerous awards. This early passion for the arts laid the foundation for his later pursuit of photography. Despite earning a Master's degree in Computer Applications (MCA) and serving in esteemed roles as a computer teacher and academic administrator for over 16 years, Navin's innate creative calling eventually led him to transition into full-time photography.
Over the past decade, Navin Kumar has garnered widespread acclaim and accolades from prestigious institutions such as National Geographic, Sony World, HIPA, MSPF, SIENA, and more. His contributions to the art world have been celebrated not only nationally but also internationally, with recognition from organizations like Sony India, Eyeshot Magazine, Penguin Publications, and the Street Photographers Foundation. Notably, Navin is a two-time winner of the HIPA competition (9th & 11th Season), underscoring his mastery and innovation in the field.
Beyond his individual achievements, Navin Kumar is deeply committed to nurturing aspiring photographers and sharing his expertise with the community. He serves as a contributing photographer for National Geographic's Your Shot platform and as a Photography Mentor for Tamron India. Through his mentorship role, Navin has conducted over 20 intensive workshops and delivered more than 50 guest lectures across various cities and educational institutions in India, enriching the photography landscape and inspiring the next generation of visual storytellers.

Its a honor to see such a talented photographer from India. We rarely see Indian photographers in Europe or North America talking about. I am from India and I salute you. Love your work.

Photographers often choose to shoot in monochrome for various reasons. It can enhance mood, emphasize texture and contrast, simplify compositions, or evoke a sense of timelessness. Plus, it encourages focusing on light and shadow, which are fundamental elements of photography.

These are truly marvelous images, some even haunting, however, in today’s world of AI, Lightroom and Photoshop, with their so often superior composition and timing, and Navin’s advanced computer skills, are all of these photos as shot or created in the computer?
