- Tutorial on how you can remove your last name from your Facebook profile. You need to follow these steps exactly to make this work. if you just try and remove your name normally it won't work so make sure to follow along to a tee.

Steps:
You need 2 things to set this up. The first is the google chrome web browser, and the second is either a VPN or a proxy-based in Mumbai India. I am using Nord VPN for this tutorial, they have several Mumbai servers. I’ll leave a link in the description above with a special offer to Nord if you want to check it out!
So first of all I am going to open up my VPN and connect to a server in Mumbai.
Once that is connected I will open up google chrome and go to facebook.com. Log into your account if you are not already logged in!
On the Facebook home page, tap on the menu button at the top right of the screen. Scroll down to the bottom until you see the language option and tap on that.
In the search bar for changing language, type in Tamil and then select it from the list. Your facebook language will now change to Tamil, and that is why we are doing this on google chrome, to be able to translate the page to make the rest of the steps easier. The chrome translation should start immediately, but if it doesn’t tap on the 3 dots menu button at the top right of chrome and then tap on translate.
Now you want to go back into the menu of Facebook again and this time scroll down to settings and open that up.
On this page tap on where it shows your name.
This is the name editing page and you can now remove your last name. For some reason, this will only work when connected to a Mumbai IP and in the Tamil language.
Once you’ve removed your last name, tap on validation change.
Now enter your password to confirm the change.
As you can see my last name has been removed and all it shows is my first name!
Now we just need to go back into the language options and switch back to English.

Awesome. It kind of works. I was not able to remove my surname even though I followed your descriptions to the letter. However, on the plus side, I was able to reduce my surname to its initial letter and save it that way, which is normally not allowed on facebook. And that's as good as removing the surname in my opinion. Mission accomplished. Thanks.

I lost access to TWO years long Facebook accounts by trying this. They see you log in from another country out of the blue, you get flagged, and then suspended pending sending them documents. THIS IS FAR MORE DANGEROUS THAN ANYONE TELLS YOU.

If you're logged in from the same device as usual too its not suspicious..
and using a VPN is something that millions of people do every day to access social media .

I had the trouble free FB account for years, did this exact process, and within 10 minutes got a suspension notice in my email, asking for photo ID, etc. Couldn't help try again on a FB account that replaced that one that I had for about a year (about 3 months ago), same thing, lost access pending ID review. It's automatic, but the instant change in country flagged it somehow. I bet it's a change of country AND changing account info that is the combo that trips whatever trigger they look for, like a hijacked account.
ok , that is strange though because I use a VPN 100% of the time when I'm on Facebook , choosing a random location every time .. and this tutorial has helped 1000s of other people do this successfully .

if you live in India, you actually don't need a VPN .. however , i just removed my last name without even changing the language to tamil. Just get a VPN that can connect to Chennai - India. That's a tamil state or province and BOOM it's easy as ABC
Why is this better than changing or deleting your last name on Facebook? This looks like you are just deleting your last name. Does this allow somebody to come and grab a FB identity using your first and last name?

edit: Someone below me mentioned trying VPN Indonesia and changing your FB language to "Bahasa Indonesia". This method worked for me!

Doesn't work anymore. I think Facebook have patched it as of OCT 2021. The only thing you can do is have a single letter as your last name.

Why does it not work when I use a computer with a chrome VPN?
I wasn't able to completely remove my last name but being able to only write the first letter of my last name was enough.
I used Nord vpn, followed all the instructions, tried different Mumbai servers by disconnecting and reconnecting but it kept asking for a last name.

I can testify to this please try this as of june 8, 2020 this worked for me. After trying so many vpns it frustrates me, this nord even for free trial worked for me. I also tried indonesia location for other vpn but nothing worked. This uploader is genius. You mus only try mumbai server for nord vpn. Best of luck pips.
