Nice review. Thanks for posting it. I'm a little disappointed to hear about the rear suspension not being perfect. I have been looking at getting a FS4/FS4 Equipped for that precise reason but the Rail 5 is nearly the same price and with longer suspension on both the front and back maybe that's the better option. (I don't do the trails like you do though - mainly asphalt and sand roads). Great to hear the 625 lasts long enough.
I think given the choice I'd go with the Rail, you can lock the suspension off for road riding but personally I would just enjoy and leave it on. The FS4 isn't a bad bike at all but if the cost is the same for the Rail, then I'd definitely go with the Rail over the FS4.
If someone can't go fast on trails with this bike that's just lack of skill... 'user error', so to speak. These are youtube's biggest pitfall: advices from dilettants and people who "forget" to tell the audience that they are indeed payed to promote the product. We went all out downhill on fully rigid bikes, this should be waaay more than enough for anyone except pro racers. Skill 90+% of how it's gonna work out.
I bought this FS4 Gen2 like yours, as it was on offer. Not got it delivered yet, but have the Equipped original mudguards ready. I was going to upgrade to KIOX BUI330 but not sure it's worth it. I don't cycle mountains but cycle year round including snow and ice, so will also get a spare set of wheels with studded tyres on - these are good here in Southern Finland.@@thosj1123
Great honest review, much appreciated. Bloopers too! I’m considering the fs 9 or tero x 6. My riding is tamer than yours. I don’t know but I think a heavy emtb hardtail is going to be pretty punishing.
Quite informative video about the bike. The sceneries are rather different (not in a bad way) compared to ones hereabouts: Finnish Lapland - here forests block most of the views.
@@jcottam Selling these voids warranty Ive heard. (?) I went for Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 SLT (Allroad), because it had a great offer. It has been fine this far, except that temps around -30c pops a message to system "too cold", after 5km.
I have this bike, upgrafed brakes amd front forks. There is no upgrade for rear. Other that the rear shock, i think its a great bike.
May I ask what break and fork you used

Thumbs ups. Thanks for the content, but not seeing how you are bottoming out suspension on those rolling hills.

I have the same views in the Espoo/Helsinki area but more bike roads maybe. Just bought this bike and will see how it goes. If not happy will sell.

4,5 grand these days is considered cheap end of the market?? I guess I'm getting old..
Get a high pressure pump or kill this shock
you must have the suspension set wrong. I've gone 50mph downhill and never maxed out my suspension
