A board under 9' is usually ok to fly with. Check out the infinity RNB, starboard wedge, and NSP DC surf wide. They are sub 9' boards that still have around 140-150L of volume. They very stable easy compared to a "performace" shape board with lower volumes but still offer great agility due to shorter length. The only draw back is they're slower to Paddle than a longboat but that's the sacrifice you have to make for travel.
