Now I know what I should do instead of worrying about if I need to slow down/if I'll make it in time etc. You mentioned to start slowing down around 5 car lengths ahead, then at 2 cars distance, I can go back to the normal driving speed if the light hasn't changed. In dual carriage ways, where the speed limit is 50 / 60 MPH, It makes me nervous to apply the same 5 Car length off Gas and 1 to 1.5 Car length to accelerate. (Which means i am attempting stop upto 1.5 Car length, which is too short a distance to break). Could you please share your comment.

I would have thought you would have to be travelling at 20mph or less to be able to use 1 to 2 car lengths as your go/no go decision point. In a 40mph road I don't think it will be acceptable to slow your car down to 20mph.the examiner will probably fail you

What does covering the brake mean? Does it mean press on the brake to slow down?
It means you cover the brake, meaning put your feet on top of the brake and ready to use.
