This is making something out of nothing. It's a cost cutting move, and plain old business. I sincerely doubt their marketing approach or team makeup are at all impacted.
plain old business, which always works out great for us in the end right... if its a cost cutting move then you can bet their team and marketing are impacted as well.
Word around the evolution line is very positive where I am. Logics, Links, Method, Origin, Essence, Instinct, I see. Never hear anyone buying the originals though. The plastic is generally stiffer and more overstable. The Colorado location seemed to be a positive thing tying them to a growing DG area but thats gone so now they are just another American arm of Latitude.
All else being equal, I don’t think the company structure of DG brands has anything to do with how their sponsored players are performing. What it does affect, for me at least, is whether or not I’ll buy their discs. I like Discmania historically, but I’m unlikely to support a brand that’s owned by venture capitalists. 🤷♂️
I think what we are seeing at this point is, plastics are plastics no matter what combination you come up with. The difference is in manufacturing and that’s where MVP shines. They have more consistency than any other company across the board 😮
The stat on market share is somewhat misleading as a lot of the share lost in 2020 & 2021 was due to Innova basically no longer making discs for them. Took awhile to ramp up all during a time of a lot of other manufacturers entering the market.
I don't see Discmania being affected majorly because of the recent HoD acquisition. The closing of their retail site may actually benefit them. Dealers can now go to one site and order from a few different brands. This streamlines the process and may make it easier on the dealers. Losing Eagle and Simon was a loss but not as much if Discmania had not signed Alden, Gannon, and Nikklas to a bigger contract. Those players are popular with the young generation and are slowly gaining traction with the older generations. Discmania is growing with the times and I believe they will be just fine.
If your sponsor is one company i.e Discmania. Why would you throw Westside or Kastaplast? I think in order for the players to be able to do this they would have to be sponsored by House of Discs and it would act as an Infinite style of 1010 but just with the companies they own. I think it would have to bee done as well as if DD or one of those manufacturers made the discs. Cause with the case of MVP/Axiom/Streamline they're made by MVP and with trilogy the DD players can also through Westside and Lat 64 because they're made by the same people and even Innova being able to throw Millenium and Discmania back in the day. I think in order for those two things to happen there would have been a consolidation of disc manufacturing or a sponsor of the major company that owns all those brands.
Fwiw I do view Discmania as just another sub-brand of house or discs, same as kastaplast or lat 64. Yes, each company has their own marketing teams, but ultimately you're supporting HOD when you buy their plastic.
I threw all discmania basically since I got into the sport. I love discmania and I still throw majority discmania, but I feel as though that family vibe with discmania is slowly disappearing....I mean where did our ITBs go? Where did those fun videos with the players go?
Would be fun to at least once see some disc golf industry analysis not based on publicly available information that everyone knows, projection and speculation. But no..
Simon and Eagle were the main reason to buy discmania. Now there aint nothing special or carisma, even they have great results. Boring team over all and it shows how their dics dont sell as much anymore...

Honestly the discmania shipping was so slow. I bet this was all because of logistics and now they will be able to keep up with demand

3:07 disc mania has been increasing their market share since leaving innova. Doesn’t seem like a losing company to me with continual annual growth

I've heard Discmania is shutting down their Ft Collins warehouse .....
Consolidation is just bad for the consumer and anyone downstream in the end. There's a reason there are anti monopoly rules for businesses.

To answer the question in the title: because it is not a very interesting topic.
Survival. You are thinking short term.
