Right away when Annie saw Shabani with that piece of cloth she beat her Chest at him to say "That's mine,give it to me"....and she's right, it's hers! Annie loves anything that's cloth-like so she can wear it like a human. I ♥️ her so much!
Annie looks exactly like Shabani in the same way Gentaro looks almost exactly like Genki. IT's surprising how all these popular gorillas look like one parent or the other, and not often an even mix of the two
When it is time for Annie to move out to start her own family I hope she is matched with a silverback who will love her and be kind to her and protect her just as Shabani has done all through her childhood. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧
@1:15 Shabani is reacting to his son's inappropriate behavior with his little sister like any responsible human primate would. I like how after he grabs him with that Gorilla Pinch seems to be talking to him telling him that he knows better- no roughhousing with the girls in the family you're supposed to be watching out for her and puts his arm around him to let him know that he's not mad at him.It's just as we were taught: . I've always said that human fathers can learn a lot about parenting from these great ape cousins of ours.
@sally shockley I know that Chimpanzees are the closest to humans and they do mirror our darkest sides a little too much IMO. I watched that documentary about Nim, the Chimp who was raised by a progressive hippie family of academics and as Nim changed from the cute, lovable little monkey boy into a manipulating monster who was actually putting a wedge between the family's father and mother, even trying to have sexual relations with her. Also, when Nim got older and the mother tried to go in the cage hoping that the monkey boy they loved was still there, she was almost killed. In contrast a gorilla will remember a human who they loved from their past and show the sweetness and love they both felt for each other as when they were together. Big difference. Gorillas are a lot mellower and seem to be more loving and family oriented. The reason I said what I did about Shabani's teaching moment was because it reminded me of my father teaching my cousin who I grew up with, and his words to us: "You never hit your sisters" Instead we were raised to be protectors of each other and later against any of the many boyfriends that my younger sisters would bring around and that's what it reminded me of Sally. I always liked the way the alpha males in the Gorilla clan is always watching-even when they don't seem to be.

I only know the gorillas in captivity in Japan, but I think the most largest and powerful male gorilla is Haoko at Ueno zoo in Tokyo. Haoko is shabani’s big brother.

Oumbi in the UK is the largest male I've ever seen. He's not as playful as this one though but he's got a way nicer area where he's often working out and doing pull ups.
