It is funny that people say white gauges are modern but facts are that all old cars had white dash's and then they changed to black and now everyone wants to go back to old white dash's.
Thank you for posting this tutorial. My suggestion to anyone planning on doing this is: Don't use cheap LEDs to do this project. They look great but fail within a few months and then you must repeat the process. Some of my LEDS ended up blinking and some failed altogether. Save yourself time and aggravation, be sure you buy a decent brand.
I hate to say this but I picked up the same cluster today at the yard out of a 2001 sport and looking at yours, mine is the same color tan and I don't like it, oh well.
Thank you! Because of this video I did this swap and it is such a huge difference. Makes it feel waaaaay more modern.
No problem! It does make it feel newer.

For anyone wanting to know led positive side, from left to right, it's L,L,R,R,L,R if you are looking at the circuit board
I have a 2005 sport trec and my cluster is bad but i cant find one anywhere whats compatible for an 05 because i cant use my windows or dash at all
Nice. 6 for 6 picking the right polarity on first try. Hope I get that lucky.
I did get lucky lol
That’s pretty cool! How’d the project go??
Would it work on 2002 explore ??
You don't have to take off the steering column cover?
No. Everything you have to do is done in the video in order.

One last question the odometer stays the same?
Odometer is whatever it was on the cluster you pic out. Which is why I said I found one that was really close to the original miles
Can you swap this with a black one with a digital screen like on a 2002 f150?
@Konnor Mark No, the F-150 is a completely different vehicle. They don’t have interchangeable parts with each other.
@@2H2521 actually you can with proper wiring I already did it
@@konnormark5123 I doubt it.
@@2H2521 it was a ranger cluster but with a homemade digital odometer
You know your dimmer switch won't dim the instrument lights with l.e.d.
Luckily my 03' explorer came with the white face from the factory.
That's not a second gen 😂
Yes it is 1998 5.0
