Dominions 5/6 - Late Age C'tis: National Overview

- So LA Ctis is horrible right? Worst in era right? Well turns out they probably aren't... they might just be one of the best scaling nations in the game.... but they have a rough start in dominions 5.
We will discuss how to play them like a juggernaut in dominions 5 and all the many changes and improvements made to them in dominions 6.
One thing that I leave out of this video but mention in the next video is that in dom 6 LA ctis freespawns longdead too!
*Please* upload the C'tis series. I've missed you narrating your own games for a long time.
Hey guys I think Lucid might like undead freespawn.
Filthy lies!
10 Cold-res make you immune to cold blooded? Big cold res in every C'tis and Agatha build and the sacred shroud factories go brr.
I encourage uploading the series since I've always wanted to see LA C'tis played at a high level; I considered them as a possible pick for the tournament finals but decided I didn't want to deal with playing the nation with multiple Illwinter capable nations on a very big map. The cold blooded changes in Dominions 6 very much fix that constraint!
I'll be curious to see the Pretender design video; there's at least 3 different types of cool builds for the nation.
Just noticed another change from Dom5 to 6, the reborn went from having a fire/death random to having a fire/ASTRAL/death random.
Which is actually pretty big. First because it makes the reborn with useful combat paths up to 2/3. This is enough to make buying them more reasonable. Which also means that you can have many more astral mages to work as communion slaves, rather than needing to use your very expensive Sauromancers as both masters and slaves.
Tomb keeper went from trash to very cool and actually competeing with the empoiserner.
I would be interested in seeing the other reworked nations. The spiders of machaka and the mad squids in particular.
Really excited to see the R'lyeh rework too. Always been my favourite nation as long as I don't have to play it myself :D
No grippa? Doesn't feel like a real discussion about late age ctis! I hope he re-appears in a future video though :)
YAYYY LA C'tis!! My all time FAVORITE beginner nation bar none.
When you're starting Dom5 for the first time, overwhelmed by all the stats and units and most intimidatingly, spells... LA C'tis has a few clear, obvious spells you can try out without having too much choice. Reanimate chariots, summon skeletons, and cast bane fire - you should be able to figure out how to beat the AI with that
Crossbows landing on my skeletons always seemed very economically advantageous. When I was new I treated it mostly like an economic simulator.
Dom 6 overview starts at 35:33. Lucid could you add a little bookmark in the video? ❤
Most of the info carries through for both games like the banefire.
Sounds really fun. Please do upload the full series
The changes sound really neat. I've never been the biggest crossbow fan, but it's particularly useful on a nation that get pierce-resistant undead. And it combos particularly well with Tomb Wyrms, with their pierce resistance, decent protection, and lack of noheal. The banefire crossbows sound cool, but the bless you want for wyrms and your other sacreds aren't useful at all to sacred archers.
42:30 the xbow is a pretty significant change. In LA you already had xbow potential, but having it guaranteed for your national troops when you've such easy flaming arrows is a nice lil buff
I always liked the theme of LA Ctis, but never had the courage to try them in multiplayer. I'd love to see the series (or some kind of "best of" moments from it).
35:36 the Dominions 6 content
thank you!
Sacred tomb worm spam gets very cancerous with a blood vengeance bless in dom 5. Combine it with sight vengeance for extra fun in 6.
MA C'tis is like the only nation I play. Really looking forward to see its rework and maybe an overview video.
Man ill watch youre dom5 ctis game, ngl, but at the same time im much more hyped for dom6 content
This looks really cool as an option to play the nation. Would like to see the game of it
Would love to see the game
The life after death spell description makes it sound like it lasts for that battle only. It does not say permanent anywhere.
Life after Death only lasts for the battle. But if you die in the battle (and only die once), you're now permanently an undead unit.
After my DE game as Lemuria I am traumatized by LA Ctis. Though as my excuse DE does crack it up why Lemuria gets hardly anything :P
hahaha, to be fair, I am a pretty decent LA Ctis player. It's nice to see I seeded the fear for LA Ctis in at least one player!
Oh boy! Time to see if my favorite Dom 5 nation will remain my favorite nation in Dom 6, or if they did something lame with it :P
Oh nice!! Wasn't expecting this
Hope you enjoyed it!
Really did. EA C'tis are one of my fav nations but never played LA. They look really fun in Dom6 now. Thanks!
I like EA Ctis too, but for me, LA is where the fun is when Ctis is concerned.
Regarding tomb guards: they don't have particularly good stats: 12s in attack and defence, no attack bonus on the length 1sword (though it hits fairly hard) and high encumbrance before you include the cold blooded. They also dont have any special resistances beyond poison. They however don't have enough PR to actually stand in dense poison clouds like your slingers can cause. There is an ok strat to take PR and hardskin bless and have the tomb guards hold while your poison slingers nuke the frontline but if the enemy has PR you will basically be relying on the sub par sacreds to chop through.
Regarding the undead:
in terms of summoning: the 16gem holy 2s is far superior to the 10 gem versions, you get about double the production rate for +60% of the cost. The H3 are what you should be getting and as many as you can beg, borrow, trade or steal death gems for.
Tomb worms are excellent bait for evocations/banish to draw agro away from chariots. Putting them in the front with chariots behind will cause the priests to throw banish or mages throw evos at the ~80hp square of worms instead of the 7hp square of chariots.
Ctis longdead is extremely fragile, 7hp, 0 protection and no shield for the killy varient, the other has a shield but still low hp and no prot and a weak spear. Neither has a helmet. In general unless you have some protection buff like marble warriers its better to just make chariots.
Yes, please continue!!!!
My dumb self was looking for parts 1-4 before i remembered dominions 6 is coming out. I love being tired
I always liked the Desert Rangers tbh. Sure, they were ouotclassed by ANY heavy LA infantry, but they always felt like perfectly solid medium infantry with shields and javelins, which was not the worst thing for a nation whose troops lineup could at its most positive be described as "lacking", to have
Yeah they are sorta hard to mass in vanilla bc you can only recruit them in wastes but they are kinda cool.
Though I admit to being biases because I've won exactly two games of Dom5 and it's was as EA and LA C'tis, with the LA game being hilariously late-game. And it that it was basically Desert Rangers and Tomb Guard first expanding, then winning my first war against Rus together with my entire mobilized mage corps and then late game just holding the line for huge doomstacks of Sauromancers and Reborn.
So I am perhaps inordinately fond of them due to that.
Washington DC wishes it could produce this many snakes
56🤨😳 part 6 didn't even came out yet
Best scaling-? I see what you did there. :D
=D
Finaly, LA Ctis!!!!
Maybe I'm missing something, how can you reanimate your level 2 priest? Life afther death is imposible to use reliably (youkilled mage will be most likely killedagain in the same battle) and even if a handfull survive, they are feebleminded soooo they are not priest anymore!
So in dom6 they are feebleminded. (This is a patch illwinter made to the game after i made this video) But if you take a mend bones bless - you can fix that. So id recommend mend bones for LA ctis in dom6.
As for how you kill them without them dying in the same battle. We end up proccing a magical battle with independents (like horrors or ghost riders etc) that we know we will win and we kill off our own mages with things like soul vortex or foul vapors or chill aura... all of which wont kill the resulting undead.)
Trying the mend bones does it also need a shroud of the saint to work? (Also, very good idea with the soul vortex, disn't think about it)@@LucidTactics
not unless you arent a priest. all priests will turn into an undead that is already sacred.@@marcoscasascuadrado1408
"Sacred Serpents aren't amazing, but they are not bad. I mean they are kinda bad"😂
They are bad in a very not bad sort of way. Like unblessed they tend to kinda die a bunch without doing a tremendous amount... with the right bless though...
Never put all your horses in one bag.
Is there any end game new spell which would allow you to boost your holy level further? Possibly a global?
Communions
Yea, just curious if there's anything new in Dom6 which would allow you to go even further beyond. Just opening up lots more deeper holy play. @@Golbeeze
