There is no specific standard called HL7 CCD. Instead, CCD (Continuity of Care Document) is just one of the many document templates outlined in the C-CDA specification. C-CDA serves as a constraint imposed on the HL7v3 CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) domain, defining various document structures for the exchange of healthcare information.
The approach of converting various standards into an arbitrary JSON structure seems questionable and likely demands extensive patching for numerous edge cases.

You're correct about the relationship between HL7 CCD and C-CDA. Additionally, CCD is just a document template outlined by the C-CDA specification. In this video, for simplicity, we have interchangeably used the words "standard" and "document template" since explaining v3/RIM/CDA/CCDA/CCD is beyond the scope of this video. Moreover, in the video, we have mentioned that CDA is a document architecture and v3 is a standard.
Converting healthcare standards to JSON can be complex and does require substantial adjustments, especially for edge cases. It's important to address data validation, semantics, and security to ensure data accuracy and integrity during the conversion process.
In our product, EHRSync, we have separate microservices and transformers for HL7 v2, CCD, FHIR, and EDI X12 to parse, validate, handle exceptions, manage different versions, and address various edge cases. Furthermore, we also offer support for profiling. Of course, there are new versions and amendments in existing standards; therefore, we strive to implement those changes in our system as promptly as possible.
