  • A former Knicks legend says he was harassed by security guards in the arena he called home for 15 years. It's not the first time security at Madison Square Garden has been questioned for their methods; CBS2's Steve Overmyer reports.

      D. Wilkins had similar difficulty trying to get into a restaurant. Shouldn’t we factor that lots of younger millennials and zoomers can honestly not recognize these legends who look nothing like how they looked on the posters? Ewing minus the flat top due to hair loss plus sixty pounds presents a good chance for being mistaken for maintenance. Sorry.

@@frank-ko6de I stand by my point... if you were not a die hard fan of sports at all, let alone the Knicks, or too young to be that familiar with Patrick Ewing - all scenarios extremely possible in respect to staff at MSG, it is highly likely that you’d fail to recognize Patrick Ewing especially when trying to use a poster image of decades ago when he had a flat top fade and weighed at least 60 pounds less. I have some time today for idiots. Have you been to MSG lately? Most staff are either 30-something- max and barely speak English. So yes a balding fat retired athlete can easily slip through unnoticed.

If your sense sense of observation or recollection is really poor, perhaps you shouldn't be working security. If you get off harassing much taller people than you due to your inathletism and intense insecurity complex, that's even bigger reason for you not to work that kind of job. Ok so I’ve worked in college sports. Those check point security folks don’t all watch sports. They’re usually some kid or someone’s grand parent. They are probably not aware of who a 80s and 90s legend is. If my girlfriend was hired as a check point security I guarantee she wouldn’t know who Patrick is, she would ask for credentials because she is doing her job. Just have your credentials handy. The staff could be zoomers, a bit too young to recognize. Then these idiot reporters highlight the retired jersey - as if he’s wearing it now.
Lee was entitled and out of pocket... he wanted to make it a rule to keep entering through the player’s entrance, staff enforced policy and said “no more”. What...
Oak Man was generating complaints from ticket holders at front rows for getting tipsy, shouting profanity onto the court - sometimes in close proximity of children which was all management needed because he already worked himself onto the crap list criticizing the organization. @@dakliq420 NYC demographics have been rapidly changing. Ewing played his last game as a Knick at MSG in ‘00”. Even then he looked nothing close to his vintage look in his prime. Now fast forward twenty years later, you see a big tall black man in sweats around MSG, balding no flat top with the two parts, overweight with a mask, a 22 year old Dominican security officer from The Bronx is likely to not recognize him. Even a Jamaican security officer from Flatbush couldn’t know or care less who he is. Many non-English speaking people without a single clue of who’s who in NYC pop culture work in Manhattan especially MSG. You think a 30 year old Guatemalan bus boy fresh out of Del Rio Tx would recognize Manny Ramirez ?!?! We would. Many newcomers to the city wouldn’t.

@@recklessralphfromqueens8383 I can see that point, but my rebuttal would be its not like Pat in his older years hasn't been to the Garden. They can't just have pictures of him in his prime there,he's been through those doors many times after retirement. Been apart of special events there and been to games. I can see that as a possibility, but I also feel like there has to be enough proof around the Garden as well. Maybe I'm wrong, but still that's weird.
