I don’t include pre-world cup since he wasn’t a Liverpool player back then and he never played as a lone striker for Uruguay before. This just proves my point that he’s a confidence player that needs the right system. He came into a Liverpool side where the 9 (Firmino) has to create and feed the goalscoring wingers. This doesn’t suit him as his link-up play isn’t the best. Sure he’ll still need to do that for Slot, but 2 creative wingers (Bakayoko could be a great addition) and a 10 feeding Darwin as the lone striker will help him a lot. Sure he hasn’t been consistent in front of goal, but the talent is there, not only the Newcastle game, but Brentford, Bournemouth, Norwich, Sparta and plenty more games are proof. All he needs is the right assistance which Slot is known for. Just like he did with Gimenez and Boadu.
18 goals and 13 assists is pretty good, hit the post about 6 times missed penalties and open nets! If darwins finishing goes up by a few percent he'll be considered world class, he averages a goal or assist every 85 minutes, if he played every game up front for the full 90 minutes he would get up into the high twenty mark easily
What’s weird is that we bought him as the literal most clinical striker in Europe. He outperformed xg by like 12 goals. I remember he destroyed us at Anfield for Benfica. Darwin Nunez is a young chaotic striker, he still has lots to improve. He needs to slow down in important moments and focus on the shot, I believe he can be a consistent striker.

I've never seen a player that is 24, about to be 25 in June and still so raw. It's nice that he likes to run behind the defence, but his offside awareness is the worst I've ever seen. He's constantly offside, never seems to time his runs, just everything he does feels rushed. Absolutely zero composure and game intelligence, so if Slot can change that - he's a miracle worker.

Darwin Nunez can be lethal striker if he able to improve few of his setsbacks. *Ball keeping(holding)capacity when he get long balls from defender until others players arrive for him to play or at least forced opponent defenders to do fouls on him. *He must improve some of his technical and tactical ability to improve his finishing. *Must develop resistance against media ridicule put his head down develop his profession on training pitch. *Should be in controls of his emotions when opposite playes agitated him,to avoid unnecessary cards.
Not to mention Nunez doesn't control the center when out of possession and doesn't score the 'big chances' when they come his way. One more roll of the dice with Slot or I'd be getting him out as soon as Jan

One word of advice from a Feyenoord fan: Physically, Slot asks a lot of his players. Gimenez had a bad second half, mostly due to the many games (also national) and the amount of work all the players have to put in.

Having been a striker myself I know that especially there Darwin could benefit. Putting it in or not depends on your mindset at the moment you need to finish. That mindset can be trained.
Amazing how many strikers Darwin had more goals and assusts than but all the talk is needing to fix him. He gets himself so many chances from his chaotic runs. About all needed that calm before the shot.
Striker duties were split between Dessers and Linssen during Slot's first season, not Dessers and Jahanbakhsh. Linssen was actually very important in Slot's pressing game in his first season.
Nunez scored 21 and assisted 12 goals in an unspectacular season. He also improved from the season before. I'm not a fan of the hate he gets. He's not the finished article, he's not Haaland, but if he progresses again we are talking 25+ goals and 15 assists making him better than 95% of the strikers in Europe. He's already in the top 10% statistically. So yeah he looks chaotic and he is frustrating to watch sometimes, but they are not the stats of a bad player. He works hard, he is improving so I'm optimistic about Nunez.

Darwin is one of the best players Liverpool have signed recently, he just needs to improve his accuracy and confidence, which Slot will help with I'm sure. If you ignore the misses and grade Darwin on this other abilities, such as his speed, how he knows where to come in to support the attacking line, his tap ins from rebounds, he's far from the flop many say he is. It's all down to confidence, like playing in a band on a big stage which I have experience in, it's no different in sport. When Slot helps him improve his confidence, he'll be close to unstoppable. Can't wait to see how Slot will take Liverpool to the next level if things go well for him. Up the reds!

Darwin is not cut out for the PL pressure and the criticism that comes. PL legends may not be as skilled as the R9s and Zidanes but they knew how to sustain pressure throughout a crazy season.

I'd argue that our inconsistent defending needs sorting out as well. Diaz's finishing also needs to improve. And the injuries...I'm eager to see if this part improves with him as manager.

Slot made a complete team at the start of each season with Feyenoord and took them in 3 seasons to a Conference League final, Europa League semi final, 1 time league winners and cup winners. He will do great at Liverpool. 💪🏼

Darwin Nunez can be lethal striker if he able to improve few of his setsbacks.
*Ball keeping(holding)capacity when he get long balls from defender until others players arrive for him to play or at least forced opponent defenders to do fouls on him.
*He must improve some of his technical and tactical ability to improve his finishing.
*Must develop resistance against media ridicule put his head down develop his profession on training pitch.
*Should be in controls of his emotions when opposite playes agitated him,to avoid unnecessary cards.
Darwins dribbling is sub par to be on the wing. Tendens to get stuck and stalls when not sprinting
Not to mention Nunez doesn't control the center when out of possession and doesn't score the 'big chances' when they come his way. One more roll of the dice with Slot or I'd be getting him out as soon as Jan

Physically, Slot asks a lot of his players. Gimenez had a bad second half, mostly due to the many games (also national) and the amount of work all the players have to put in.
If Darwin Nunez can strive under Slot, it's like Salah was striving under Klopp..he will score non-stop! and hopefully it will open up more chances as well, as he can carry the ball forward...leading to more assist coming from him.

Having been a striker myself I know that especially there Darwin could benefit. Putting it in or not depends on your mindset at the moment you need to finish. That mindset can be trained.
Amazing how many strikers Darwin had more goals and assusts than but all the talk is needing to fix him. He gets himself so many chances from his chaotic runs. About all needed that calm before the shot.
Striker duties were split between Dessers and Linssen during Slot's first season, not Dessers and Jahanbakhsh. Linssen was actually very important in Slot's pressing game in his first season.
Nunez scored 21 and assisted 12 goals in an unspectacular season. He also improved from the season before.
I'm not a fan of the hate he gets. He's not the finished article, he's not Haaland, but if he progresses again we are talking 25+ goals and 15 assists making him better than 95% of the strikers in Europe. He's already in the top 10% statistically.
So yeah he looks chaotic and he is frustrating to watch sometimes, but they are not the stats of a bad player. He works hard, he is improving so I'm optimistic about Nunez.
We just need Jota to be injury-free.

Darwin is one of the best players Liverpool have signed recently, he just needs to improve his accuracy and confidence, which Slot will help with I'm sure. If you ignore the misses and grade Darwin on this other abilities, such as his speed, how he knows where to come in to support the attacking line, his tap ins from rebounds, he's far from the flop many say he is. It's all down to confidence, like playing in a band on a big stage which I have experience in, it's no different in sport. When Slot helps him improve his confidence, he'll be close to unstoppable. Can't wait to see how Slot will take Liverpool to the next level if things go well for him. Up the reds!
