    Tatis last 900 at bats, he has a .760 OPS. 200 points below where he was before the suspension. This might be who he is.

    The price of being a fan keeps going up, I've had to pay a subscription fee to watch Padre games on TV for fucks sake. The product on the field remains the same.

    Should we start looking at the hitting coach

    Sadly the big contracts typically are paying for a player for what he HAS done with the HOPE that the performance will continue, but unfortunately the only guarantee is the salary. So often we see a player perform at their best during a contract year, is this a coincidence?

      It's a bummer that the Padres have 3 of these guys.

      Hope isn’t a strategy. We are learning this the hard way.

    3-3 home stand. 16-16 last 32 ganes. It’s easier to talk about winning 7 of 9 series because that was two months ago. We are doing the exact same thing we did last year. Stick our head in the sand and say everything is fine and the sky is not falling. Until we get to September and realize the series we split and lost to the Rockies and Cardinals and the games we lost to the worst teams in baseball prevented us from getting into the playoffs. We learned last season every game matters at the end.
    The truth be told we have been playing below .500 baseball for well over 300 plus games now. Pretty huge sample size. This is who they are. We need and want them to be more but are they? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • @FriarTalkSanDiegoPadres
      @FriarTalkSanDiegoPadres  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Yeah its frustrating to see them only 1 game over .500 bc the guys you paid arent performing

    How many more superstars/allstars do we need before we can sweep a team??? Jackson Merrill, arreaz, profar are all hard carrying these bum 'superstars'.

      Meaningless HR for the back of his baseball card. No one was on base and it wasn’t a big spot. He strikes out or grounds out in those situations.

      @erikhancock3186 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Lets hope it last for more than a week. It's really unfortunate that have to worry about these guys underperforming constantly.

      i think u can see some trends on exit velo and stuff like that. its def been better

    • @jdsthird
      @jdsthird 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hitting singles is not “really good” especially when no one is on base. He still leaves runners on during his multi game hit streak. Nothing is better. It’s an illusion.

      They have a ton of injuries just like the Giants. We will regret not getting separation during this time period. They are only getting healthier. Cardinals are coming on strong and Nats aren’t going away. I hate the attitude that every team sucks except our Padres. We are a .500 team. The record doesn’t lie.

    Life changes a lot after becoming a dad, not saying that’s why cuz look at Bryce Harper. Maybe he’s not getting enough sleep? It’s matter of time hopefully

    They get paid like stars but they aren't close to being one. Nothing is showing that the are on their way to being a star. The it's early they can get hot thing is a bunch of bologna!

  • @hax8233

    Bottom line u don’t need any new pieces as of rn. The team will go as far as Tati and manny take em. If they aren’t playing like they are worth 30 million we might make the playoffs but not much noise in the playoffs

    • @FriarTalkSanDiegoPadres

    • @jdsthird
      @jdsthird 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It will be a challenge making the playoffs even if those two were having career years. Giants and Diamondbacks have had a ton of injuries but they will get healthy. The time to separate is now. We pissed it away losing to the Rockies and Cardinals and one game to the Marlins. These games will matter in September as we learned the hard way last season.

  • @robertlopez7576

    Both manny and Tatis have regressed and they don’t stick to basic hitting fundamentals both perhaps of their big contracts believe they are HR hitters and swing for the long ball but they don’t need to take that approach on every at bat. Both have wide stances especially machado and pitchers take advantage of that and just pitch down and away n spot that bottom left corner time n time again and these two just continue to chase bad pitches. They need to sit down with Luis Arraez and get some hitting tips. I will point this out recent guys with big contracts continue to be superstars after their contracts look at Harper / Judge / Ohtani/ Betts these guys continue to rake but their approach to the situation is not just hit HR’s on every at bat. I just see both Machado n Tatis swinging out their cleats and continue to fail just like I may add HS Kim this dude swings a bat like a golf club also trying to hit HR’s and he’s not a HR hitter maybe in Korea domes he had some success with HRs but not here bro. Someone needs to sit him down and teach him how to take level swings n stop his golf swings. Pads will end up a 500 club if they don’t correct and adjust their offense techniques.

    Kim at SS has not been good, Kim is a back up defender bench piece nothing more!

    Imo Fernando’s problem is his approach ik yall said yall aren’t mad at it. But he seems he is willing to drive the ball the rf. I don’t remember the last time he pulled the ball besides his single off the wall yesterday. He seems he wants to go oppo but sees the middle middle fb and swings harder and is a tic behind. Idk if that makes sense but in my mind it sounded good and that’s what he looks like he’s doing

    • @jerranhamelin3064
      @jerranhamelin3064 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's def his approach. It's no secret Tatis Jr. offers a swing at almost every first pitch, and if Don & Mud know this, the opposing pitchers do as well. The key is they make solid pitches to Tatis with that 1st pitch where they can't get hurt, so Tatis is constantly starting 0-1 almost every AB. Not a good recipe to hit well when you're always behind in the count. His swings look awful and he just generally looks lost, frustrated and defeated. Hence, no swag.
