    Couple of corrections i need to make with regards to spell preps.
    When i changed my starting WIS to 13, i forgot to remove a spell from Druid. I think that the least important one is probably Protection from Evil and Good.
    Also, Animal Shapes is an 8th level spell not a 7th level spell. I guess that we instead get Reverse Gravity at 19 and then a utility spell like Wind Walk or Plane Shift at 20.

      I am a little confused. At 11th level, you take the revivify spell. However, as far as I am aware, the revivify spell is on no wizard nor on any druid spell list, other than circle of wildfire. How come you could take this spell?

    Important limitation: the thri-keen’s secondary arms can only use light weapons, even if you have the dual wielder feat. So while it would bump AC by 1, it doesn’t have any damage benefit.

    • @the_twig131
      @the_twig131  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      It means that you can dual wield with a rapier and a scimitar. You don't get the full benefits, but it's slightly better.

      @zSavageWolves 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@the_twig131 if you interpret the secondary arms “manipulate an object” ability as the ability to provide somatic and/or material components for spells (such as using a focus), then yes, that does work. I’ve often seen the requirement forced onto the main hands with this race, so it depends on your DM’s interpretation of the rules.
      Otherwise we can’t cast spells if both our main hands are occupied.

    I don't know how much work this would be behind the scenes, but I would love more of these long form build videos, even without the random prompt format. You definitely have some unique insights that I've never heard or thought of before.

      I do want to do more, because this was both fun, and way less effort than I normally have to do.
      I actually really struggle to make builds without a prompt though, just because of how I make characters. I basically always make them personality and story-role first, just because I'm basically always making them for DMing. For me to actually want to make a full build for a character, I kind of need to have spent a good month or so just mulling them over, working them out, and then I need to find and reflavour mechanics that match how I want them to act. For example I have a hydromancer who is actually an Artificer, and a giant hulking front-line Ubermensch who is a bard.

    • @_mosscat
      @_mosscat 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's very understandable. If you need prompts, maybe you could ask your youtube or patreon community? I'm sure there's lots of ideas floating around in there. (And who knows, maybe it'll attract some people to patreon :) )

    I want to point out a few things that for some reason I just didn't comment on during the call that I feel really deserve a shout out.
    Your options for protecting your familiar are cool, especially mage armor on them. I had never considered that.
    Using blade singer extra attack cantrip to do minor illusion as a free disengage is an awesome trick.
    Your build process is fantastic with tons of good details on how everything works and suggestions on concentration options. I like how you are realistic on damage output like spores temp HP.
    And you've brought in a lot of cool Druid spells that I just overlooked, so thanks for giving me a better opinion on their spell list. Especially cool combos like plant growth and warding wind or nice use cases for stone shape.
    Thanks for making this and inviting me to the challenge!

    I will say gentle response is a bad spell but it’s really surprisingly useful. Killing your allies and reviving them later is a solid gambit.

      I don't think that I've ever seen that done, probably because there's likely an alternative, cheaper way that doesn't use a 300+ GP diamond.

    With an unorthodox, MAD combo like this you need to think outside the box. I'm playing a lbl 8 guest pc in a campaign, circle of stars 6 chonurgy wizard 2. Just make sure everything the rest of your party does succeeds. If I was staying in the campaign I would take it further to grab 2 levels of peace cleric for emboldened bond. You could potentially give any skill or attack roll a +2d4+1d6 for an average of +7 to any roll, if that fails just use a portent. Roll tortle so u can dump dex max wis and get a 14 in int. It's a solid character.

    When I first listened to this, I was re-organizing my Legos lol, the combo sounded interesting & I was excited to see what you would come up with! So after re-watching a few times I want to say this feels more like a Thri-Kreen build then a Druid + Wizard build in my opinion
    Like, I love the combo of this race + Druid wildshape, as well as how the natural armor helps the Wizard, after finishing it though, all I remember is the wild shapes, dragons breath, mage armor on a hawk familiar, stealth boosts, but after of that I can’t name specifics
    I know this build is incredible, it feels genuinely well rounded, but it doesn’t feel like it has a unique sticking point? At least on first glance I think
    when it comes to something fun, you definitely nailed it, when it comes to something creative, you certainly nailed it!
    When it comes to selling the Druid x Wizard multiclass though? I don’t feel there’s a unique selling point here
    Don’t get me wrong, I’m currently thinking about how I’d go about role-playing this, or what the background of such a character would have! I just don’t know why I’m not exactly gripped by this
    Still, this was an amazing video mate!! you did well! good luck on winning this, take care! 🥳✨🤟

    • @the_twig131
      @the_twig131  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's fair. It started out as a Shillelagh build using a club and a scimitar, but that was even more bonus actions, so I dropped it. That's probably a major part of why it doesn't feel so Druidy/Wizardy.
      The fact that INT and WIS are low also meant that I had to make different spell selections to normal. I went almost entirely in the direction of utility with Comprehend Languages, Locate Object, Stone Shape, and similar.

    I'm playing a primary Wildfire / secondary Evoker right now, and it's very good. Being able to drop my moonbeam or wall of fire etc wherever I want without hurting my allies is really good.

    • @the_twig131
      @the_twig131  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, that sounds great. Wildfire is an amazing subclass, and it meshes pretty well with Evoker. I wonder if it would be good with something like Enchanter as well, using Hypnotic Gaze and then teleporting back out if you fail.

    • @androlgenhald476
      @androlgenhald476 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that could be a pretty cool build.
      The wildfire spirit doesn't improve in capabilities beyond more HP, so it's tempting to multiclass into other things after you get it.
      But I have found the 6th lvl features to be very good. The extra d8 damage/healing is constantly coming up, and the added range on my spells by being able to cast them from the wildfire spirit is great, and let's me do some interesting control moves. (I routinely use thorn whip from the wildfires position to great affect.)

    My optimized team already has one of the members almost entirely a druid wizard multiclass.
    Circle of the stars druid allows for using low level counterspells on high level cast abilities. Allowing to help plug the horrible design of dnd where impactful saving throw abilities conpletely decide fights or if you can even play(take turns) in the first place.
    Its the main lose condition for an optimized party and it doesnt happen in fun ways either because of poor design.
    So I have countspells on all members, 1 of which can counterspell high level things without using high level slots because of circle of the stars.
    Also worth noting that my counterspells cannot be counterspelled since the team fights in obsurement which only blindsight can see through, not even truesight.
    Again more work around to try to remove saving throw spells from the game because of how they dominate the fight outcome more than strategy.
    A bad role can ruin you, even with paladin aura, bless, high stats in the savr, ect.
    Default monsters at high levels are also designed as if they intend for you to always have a change to randomly get ruined way harder than 15 genious tactical plays can make up for.

  • @akenaden
    @akenaden 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why did you make up your own color code? Just use the one EVERY other content creator uses ? Seems related to your counterspell policy.
