Our buffets in NZ have an allocated seating time. Usually 1.5 hours then your table has to be cleared for the next reservation. So you could never really stay for 6 hours have breaks and wait to be hungry again Haha
All day just means the seating time (like maybe dinner service starts at 6pm so you can't turn up at 6pm and say it's your lunch so you want the lunch price not dinner). All day is the same price at lunch time OR at dinner time, you're not paying for both. Before Sizzler shut down in Aus, I knew of this family that would visit the Sizzler at Toowing in Brisbane every Sunday religiously. It was a whole extended family with cousins and grandparents and all and they would arrive at opening time for the breakfast buffet and stay until dinner. They would pay for the breakfast buffet, the lunch buffet and the dinner buffet on arrival so the staff knew ahead of time what was going on and they never had a problem with it. As long as you communicate with the staff and they know that table is going to be out of commission so they can work around it with their bookings for the day, there's not a problem, but if you're staying for more than one meal service you pay for more than one meal service. Places don't usually have a fixed seating time here (usually not unless they have experienced customers taking the piss and doing the wrong thing), but the time limit is implied by which meal service you are being seated for because you are paying for that meal. If you pay for more than one meal service you can stay for more than one. The restaurant just needs to know what's going on so they can plan their bookings around it.

Buffets in my area specifically say customers are limited to either 90 minutes or 2 hours. Also, there is the consideration that many customers are FULL before those time points.

All you can eats aren't hugely expensive, but definitely cost a pretty penny in comparison to a pub meal/takeaway. But you get so much from its worth. If your only spending two hours there your pigging out and non stop eating for the majority of it.

I used to go to the lunch buffet with a group of guys from work. We would go on Fridays. There was this one guy who used to go up like 4-5 times and pile his plate up. The rest of us were 1-2 times with normal amounts of food. The owner came out one day and said he was gonna have to pay for two plates cause he ate to much and we were all expecting a fight but he said ok. That first day he ate like normal. The second day he brought food containers with him and filled them up before we left. The owner came out and said you cant do that and he said your charging me for two plates at an all you can eat buffet because I eat to much. My lawyer said thats illegal but instead of suing you I figured Id take my portion that I’m paying for home with me. The next time in they charged him for 1 plate and we never heard anymore about it.
My kids dad, when he n some of his closest football teammates, went to a chinese buffett, they did the same, but had actually been going to the bathroom n purging to make room for more. Eventually the owner said"NO MORE BUFFET FOR YOU! YOU ORDER OFF MENU!" n they laughed, paid n left, never came back. It was funny at the time. But omg.😂😊

If you were a regular that tipped you could sit there and be left alone but people were afraid they were gonna lose our on money from tips. That's why the servers sound guilty in this video. When my 5 boys (2 were my son's best friends, but were at my house ALL the time) went to the Chinese Buffet, they came & told me they got kicked out, the person at the front of house told them you go home now, you eat too much, let your Momma feed you, you make us go broke, that was at least 25 yeas ago, they are grown men now with kids in their 20's; I have a good laugh about this today just as much as I laughed anout it then 🤣😂🤣✌️🙏

I think some in the comments are just reading the sign incorrectly. You can clearly see the buffet prices vary depending on time of day, with exception of Sunday, where it's the same prices of Dinner buffet for both lunch and dinner hours. HOWEVER, the sign did not say there was a time limit as to how long you were allowed to stay, or even how many plates of food you were allowed to consume. And that's where this lovely lady comes in to test it for us. I like how she was VERY generous with her tips, and I hope she wasn't banned from the buffet. Hopefully, the owners have updated their sign to include time limits per entrance.
Back when Golden Corral first opened, it was our Saturday ritual to go for breakfast and stay through lunch. We were never rushed out though or made to feel like we were eating too much. I really miss those days. Life was so much smoother then and gas was only .99 a gallon 😊🥰
You have to be first there when buffet is fresh as they do not close the salad bar, clean and restock. Had to complain to the mayor and also they failed sanitary issues...
We use to go there during breakfast and would stay during lunch and they never kicked s out. I think certain buffets like this one where she was at has food shortages so they start kicking people out. Most AYCE places have now put a 2 hour time limit. Some are even 1.5. So they were definitely nice letting her stay for 6 freaking hours which usually covers two meals. Glad she tipped well and apologized and glad they were nice to her. All around good for both sides it seems.

I used to go to the lunch buffet with a group of guys from work.
We would go on Fridays.
There was this one guy who used to go up like 4-5 times and pile his plate up. The rest of us were 1-2 times with normal amounts of food. The owner came out one day and said he was gonna have to pay for two plates cause he ate to much and we were all expecting a fight but he said ok.
That first day he ate like normal.
The second day he brought food containers with him and filled them up before we left.
The owner came out and said you cant do that and he said your charging me for two plates at an all you can eat buffet because I eat to much. My lawyer said thats illegal but instead of suing you I figured Id take my portion that I’m paying for home with me.
The next time in they charged him for 1 plate and we never heard anymore about it.
My kids dad, when he n some of his closest football teammates, went to a chinese buffett, they did the same, but had actually been going to the bathroom n purging to make room for more. Eventually the owner said"NO MORE BUFFET FOR YOU! YOU ORDER OFF MENU!" n they laughed, paid n left, never came back. It was funny at the time. But omg.😂😊

I think some in the comments are just reading the sign incorrectly. You can clearly see the buffet prices vary depending on time of day, with exception of Sunday, where it's the same prices of Dinner buffet for both lunch and dinner hours. HOWEVER, the sign did not say there was a time limit as to how long you were allowed to stay, or even how many plates of food you were allowed to consume. And that's where this lovely lady comes in to test it for us. I like how she was VERY generous with her tips, and I hope she wasn't banned from the buffet. Hopefully, the owners have updated their sign to include time limits per entrance.
Back when Golden Corral first opened, it was our Saturday ritual to go for breakfast and stay through lunch. We were never rushed out though or made to feel like we were eating too much. I really miss those days. Life was so much smoother then and gas was only .99 a gallon 😊🥰
