Fantastic. Typical Raghu mama template. Gumukki heavy first section. Then the stylised thisram and then morah korvai. Pure bliss.

Seems frm the kucchi days. Great sound and precision. My humble opinion - the gumukki magic reduced a bit during the kappi days. Howevr, the valanthalai started hvng a more metallic sonorous sound with kappi transition How pmi was able to hv that magic, even with a kappi instrument!! There must be a technical reason, i am sure...

I have heard some fantastic concerts on the kappi mridangam, accompanying KVN Sir, TVS Sir, Nedunuri Sir etc with awesome gumuki sounds !. I just love the sound of his kappi playing !

@@maheshnarayan6440 thanks for the post sir. I still love his kappi play.but frm kucchi days, if i pick any random kacheri with half-decent mic / sound quality, the thoppi / gumukki is awesome. Not experienced that. But i love the kappi sound anyway - for other reasons

With due respects Varadharajan sir, the magic never faded, probably you need more gnanam to understand why he chose that sound later in his kappi days, and whats the quality in it. So we should accept our inability to understand things rather than blaming legends. My humble opinion sir.

@@baluveeru thanks for your respectful post, putting me in place. I wholeheartedly accepted my inability to demystify raghu sir's korvais. I whole heartedly accept my lack of gnyAnam. Exactly why i am refring to the nAdam, which is more directly perceptible by my ears. God has blessed me with the rAsikyam to listen, differentiate and discriminate between the different works of art. I have compared only the two pieces of equipment. in this case kucchi and kappi. I hope you agree, the two sounds are different and i happen to like the gumukki from kucchi, more than the kappi. Somewehere i read PMI used kappi all the time. As a rasika, my ears do sense a difference between PMI's nAdam and PR's nAdam. it is unfortunate you see it as my agnyAnam and i see it as my rAsikyam 😊
