Asaba is Igbo indeed. Never mind the imaginary lines of political division that placed Igbos in the western side of the Niger River under a different region from those in the Eastern side of the river. The two sides are of the same heritage, language and culture, from Onitsha in Anambra down to Agbor in present day Delta state (old Midwest region)

You did well, ASABA is a beautiful city to live in, anyway the truth is that the founder of ASABA is Nnebisi from Njete in Anambra state. Majority of ASABA, Ebu Igbo, Okoh, Okpanam, and Abor, down to Ibusa, ogwashi-uku are typically Igbo's, I mingle with them since I was a Boy, I school St Patrick college ASABA, which gave me the privilege to know most towns and villages within the capital Territory of Delta state, most of them from the Anioma region are Igbo's. Although some few from Ukwani/ kwale atimes Clam to be whatever, people from ila including one of the Royal family living in London always proud of his Igbo heritage. Haven't say that, all Anioma region are Igbo's. Ned Nwoko the Husband of Regina Daniel said in one of His interview with BBC igbo that it's a stupid thing for someone who speaks Igbo, bearing okeke or Okafor but tells you that he's not Igbo must be stupid and senseless.atimes some of them from Agbor/ Obi claims to be Ika-ibo. But that's their own problems. As long as most people within from the neighbouring ASABA township are proudly Igbo's is okay with me. But in other way, when they have problems like in Lagos with Yoruba's you will see that they're more Igbo's than you, because they'll speak igbo like heaven and claim boldly igbo woman or man. Same in the North. That's the little I can tell you brother me. But in all were not lacking behind right? So we from the Mainland Igbo we keep showing them love with open arms, atimes some of them feel inferior to claim Igbo, because some of us used to call them Delta people. Bless you and have a Blissful Sunday

    • @cn2845
      @cn2845 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Your logic is all twisted. Immediately after the civil war, the Aniomas were not regarded as real Igbos by the Easterners even with the knowledge of the Asaba masacre which occured as a result of the people's affinity with the rest of the Igbos.

Kwale are not Igbo but ancient BenIn empire people who lived there on the boundaries of Igbo land and started speaking Igbo over time whatever BS you said meant. I am from that area and my DNA shows I am Edo, Isan BenIn amongst others while Igbo sometimes matches with me via marriage the name of my family quarters is still an ancient BenIn name of our ancestors. Everyone who speak English today are not English. Are you European and English because you speak or communicate in their language, a lot of Igbo towns too from BenIn or were once part of BenIn with spare Beni. Princes from polygamous royals homes sent to found or rule them to this day. DNA tests back of certain Kwale peoples stories. Don’t look down on the history of peoples out of arrogance when you know nothing about their origin stories. My direct ancestors with me as the son on my direct ancestors in my past life bashed open the gates of BenIn empire as elite warriors and migrated in conflict leaving few peoples behind so we still have an ancestral family in BenIn city to this day who knew about us. We waged a gorilla war of independence against the most powerful army in West Africa just to survive and I had those memories of my past life until I was an adult with significant events. That is greater than your BS. I was there.

My brother applauds to your comment, hut let us make it clear to them that there is nothing like Delta igbo. I am a proud Igbo man from Ahaba which is now know as asaba.
Delta state isn't upto 35 years of creation, so why would an igbo man that is from the region of today Delta state territory tell you he is an Delta IGBO man when the igbos have been in existence from the beginning of the world. Anyi bu' ndigbo, odi iye ga agbawe ya.
Let not let the stupid Jaja weed govt to divide and rules.
We were formerly know as the old eastern region, firstly the divide to South Eastern and South Western Nigeria. Today we now also have South South.
Lets open our eyes and know it a divide and rule method there are trying to use on us. I feel so bitter when someone tells me he/she is from Delta ibo or some bullshits like that. NDIGBO KA ANYI BU.

Firstly, the question in this video is disgraceful. How can you ask such when you see the stark traits of Igbo culture in full display, from Igbo akiri (Igbanke) to the Ohambara river (river Niger) in Ahaba (Asaba).
The Indigenous Igbos in Ahaba (Asaba) are the descendants of the Ekumeku warriors that gave the British a good fight during the early invasion of the land. They fought side by side with their kins from Arochukwu.
They also paid the supreme price during the Biafran genocide as their young men were rounded up and summarily executed in what is today known as the infamous Ahaba (Asaba) massacre.
They are Igbos and no less than their brave relatives in the main land or uplands. My mother is from Ashaka in Ndokwa East and she's a very proud Igbo woman to the bones.

    • @kingsweattv2465

You sound so uninformed almost like your mouth moves before your brain boots. Firstly the swiss do not speak german like the Germans.. Swiss-german is not the same. So you've already displayed your ineptitude and piss poor logic!! I challenge you to name one ethnic difference between Austrians and Germans i'll wait!! Ofcourse you cannot, politics (The unification of German states under Prussia 1871) separated them, but that does not tamper with genetic facts, they are the same people.
Secondly Austria was in fact Germany up until the 1st world war. Austrians were/are regarded as ethnic Germans and viewed themselves as such, and ofcourse they do, when they are not mad men like yourself how would they deny such, when they know that they have the exact same Frankish ancestry.. And has existed since 800 when Charlamange King of the Franks/ the Holy Roman Emperor founded it within an amalgamated Germanic state.
There is technically no such thing as swiss, the swiss are an amalgamation of these ethnolinguistic groups (Germanic, French, Italian, and Rhaeto-Romansh)!! These mostly make up the native Swiss population, whilst they have retained their specific characteristics... Originally, the country was inhabited by Celtic tribes in the west and south, and by Rhaetians in the east.... So once again you are wrong, because germanic tribes have lived there since the middle ages.
ASABA is igbo land, period point black... Claiming them adds no value to ibos history of high achievement. Assumed identity or politically enforced identity has never ever trumped historical identity and shared genetic ancestry , So please calm down and stop sounding like an ignoramus online.

I keep feeling shame whenever this question of identity of all these Igbo speaking people that live outside of Southeast comes up.
When I hear my non thinking Igbo brothers trying to force them to be Igbo I feel so so embarrassed.
I don't think this matter is anything to talk about. Anybody can be what they want to be.
If someone speaks Igbo as first language, answers Igbo name and practices Igbo culture and yet denies being Igbo, then there's no way in the world that the person can be Igbo. Because no full blooded Igbo person will ever deny his identity for whatsoever reason in the world.
We should rather encouragement them to dissociate themselves from Igbo very well by stopping to speak the Igbo language, stopping to practice Igbo cultures etc, and reverting to whatever language they ought to be speaking as a separate ethnic group.
I think it is a thing of pride that non igbos have abandoned and even forgotten their original language in order to speak Igbo and practice Igbo cultures, without being forced to do it.

From Kogi they drag reach benin to Calabar from east to Bayalsa... inferiority complex is a bastard that reduces you to drag other people that are doing well to compliment your failures.

You must be from that side of the state, the master plan of delta state was first birthed during ibori 's government instead of the implementation of the plan he busy stealing and sharing Delta state money with the uroboh people, and his cousin oduaghan took over the looting from where he stopped he did not even mind the Masters plan of the State that was to last for 20yrs, and after the exit of of this two persons, the whole State was like a rubbish bin.
Investors rejected the state one of the major boost to development, ibori prepared the ground for the investors to run away from the so call warri and by the time of his cousin oduaghan they finally run.
Warri would have been the greatest error to be the capital city of the State, the backwardness as it is today would have been worse.
Asaba/ warri and the entire Master plan of delta state under the government of the day is a welcome idea, Asaba is beginning to experience growth so you expect what you're seeing just like lagos it was so until.

Only a small mind thinks capitals have to be in overcrowded slums called “cities”
Most sensible countries put the capital in a different place than the commercial hub to avoid overcrowding and opportunities to expand development to other areas
Go and travel the world a bit and stop with this small archaic mentality

Yes few of them say they not Igbo but their prominent persns agreed that they are Igbos , you the write of the piece wants us to accept that some one who speaks same language , bears same names and both in there locations and human identity, for instance, Igbos of South East bears the following names like Asaba indigenes: Okonkwo, Chukwuemeka , okeke , uchechechukwu ,Nwankwo, Okocha etc. The name Asaba , is corrupted from its original name"Ahaba' note that in Isuikwuto LGA of Abia state, their is a community called Ahaba.
Secondly, you want an Igbo people to accept that Asaba is Igbo, but when it comes to 1966 coup , led by Chukwuma Nzeogwu, you call it an Igbo coup. Who is deceiving who?
