Honest to God you cannot review a game and call it bad if you’ve barely even beaten the tutorial, let alone judge the story. That’s like booting up Pikmin 3 and criticizing it for being too easy when all you’ve done is beat the opening scene with Captain Charlie.
Honestly, this. He criticized the menu's, thats fair i think, i also struggled with it when i started ruina. He criticized the gameplay, which is also fair considering he hasnt gotten far into the game yet and is probably struggling because of that trademark PMoon tutorial. But to criticize the story? When hes like 5 hours into the game? Thats just insane.
This interview has convinced me…. I think I will become a game journalist. And be the change I wish to see. I will become better at games. So that way the curse won’t drain my brain.
@mohamadshafiqmohamadhanifa7853 False. This same company reviewed a mainstream game AFTER PLAYING IT FOR ITS PLAYTIME OF 50 HOURS. THERE. IS. NO. EXCUSE. Oh wait, there is. They thought LoR was so niche it didn't have a community that would defend it from their assumptions. If niche, why bother reviewing?
So what I can discern from this is that whoever reviewed this game was far from kind to it. I mean geez I don’t even play ruina but I thought it was interesting enough. Unfortunately I don’t see the review changing soon. Though if there’s any silver lining; it could’ve been lower

@Beepers559 That's the kind of things that tend to happen when you take on a 5 hour long review of a game that can easily take over 70 and more just because most does, it's no different from playing Elden Ring and calling it a boring and storyless game with interesting set-up because you stopped at the first Tree Sentinel and gave it a wrap
Why are journalists allowed to review games that are story-based and longer than 60 hours? They're getting 8 hours into the game max, experiencing none of the game, then calling it trash (unless its mainstream in which case the glazing is obligatory.)
personally for me them calling lor a cyberpunk dystopia is the most painful part for me, i mean sure it IS accurate, but it still hurts because they probably think its just like any other cyberpunk setting, but really the 'dystopia' part hurts more cuz like, it was always this bad its not a future
I don't get why the community is so pressed over an accurate assement of the first few hours of LoR on switch. It's a *launch day* review, and the reviewer might not have gotten an early copy. What do you expect them to do, take the fucking LoR speedrun record from argo_lor and beat the game in the five hours had to play a niche indie game?
Not really, fans expected at least 20+ hours in, given that the same company played a mainstream game for 50 FRICKING HOURS. So clearly they do have the time, they just assumed it wasn't worth it 🤡
@@seisosimpKeep in mind that I love LoR. I have a channel where I upload "funny" and horrible remixes of the music. The early game is so awful that I don't blame anyone for not playing past. Horrible menus, really boring gameplay (because you can just hit the focused strikes button until like...sweepers), and not the most interesting story beats (really need the knowledge from Lobotomy Corp for it to be decent, but you know, the knowledge the reviewer obviously doesn't have?). The real saving graces are the graphics (but you need to play half the floors on the low graphical setting on switch anyway, so get ready for pixelated wingbeat angela!) and the music, until urban nightmare and the floor realizations start. Would I prefer the review come out later and be a fuller review of LoR? Yeah, of course. I want more people to play it, the later game is really good.
