    These are all great points from an owner! Nice job. That treadle pedal is the primary reason I went with John Deere instead of Kubota. I'm sure everyone gets used to it - but I just can't picture me using it efficiently.

    Number 2 is spot on. I've actually considered cutting my brake pedal and shortening it. It's ridiculously higher than it needs to be...

  • @Kyle-ve1zs
    @Kyle-ve1zs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I haven't heard anyone complain about the height of the brake pedal after all the BX videos I've watched. I thought I was the only one that was annoyed by how high it is! I am a tall guy too and I have my seat all the way back and still have to kick my leg up to push it. It has become more natural to just alter the treadle pedal to slow down inverse of the direction I am going. Not a deal breaker but annoying and I have gotten used to kicking my leg onto that brake if I want to make a full stop.
    Thanks Luc for all your great BX videos!

      @RossOnTheLand 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OrangeismyNewGreen it is from the dealer, it's basically a car's electric window motor screwed to the side of the chute, and is controlled by a switch mounted on the bucket stick. Works very well, and am super happy with it. As I can fast access to deflect the snow without having to switch the hydraulic solenoid over and back. So I can run it at the same time as chute rotation. Have a super weekend.

    Another great Job, You hit the nail on the head on my two real discomforts with the Kubota. The break and treadle peddle. As you point out, peddle position and natural foot movement on the 1025R are far superior in design and function. Using the machine constantly on hilly uneven terrain, I do feel safer on the 1025R. Kubota does offer some great features! But, I would not trade my 1025R for the security I feel. Keep up the great jobs around the property. You have given me some great ideas!

    On my tractor snow blower , I ordered up a 12 v dc linear actuator and installed it with a polarity reversing toggle switch and boy is it nice to NOT have to get off the tractor to adjust the discharge flap ( an old fart like me might slip and fall and break a hip or something ) ... Mid/rear PTO would be used if you have the powered bagger as it runs off the rear PTO which runs a fan inside the bagger system to suck the grass up....this setting would also be used if you have a snow blower or broom attachment in the front which uses the mid-PTO and you also have a rear PTO spreader for throwing down salt or sand during your snow removal work. Those are really the only 2 times I could think of that the mid/rear PTO would be selected at the same time.
    Another thing on the mower deck height setting, if you turn the knob to TOP, it will lock the mower deck lift linkage in the highest setting, so if you are running a rear attachment/implement off the 3 point you wouldn't be raising and lowering the mower deck and/or the lift linkage every time you were raising or lowering the rear 3 point implement/attachment.

    It was time for a down size.
    My BX 2380 has all of 10 hours on it!
    The R14s are amazing.
    My major gripe is the fuel filtering or lack of same.
    This is not a box store mower.
    First in line is the filler inlet. What no screen? In went a SS coffee filter as seen here on you tube. Get the tapered one.
    I will retro fit the remainder of the system, and make sure to have a water separator.
    The hood latch belongs on a toy.
    The break pedal is crazy high. I could understand it if it where a two stage device operating a clutch.
    The PTO engagement relies on plastic!
    I find it disconcerting to see the bendix and flywheel exposed.
    I like the reversible bolt on bucket blade, but, those blots look like they belong on Ben Her's chariot. I cut off the threads then ground, and shaped the nuts.
    One thing I transport it bagged stove pellets. It still takes the extra step of tarping the bucket.
    The reverse pedal grew on me. It feels natura while backing.
    The manual is lame.
    Where are the pig tails for work lights?
    No deal breakers here, but even Bad Boys have a proper fuel filtering system.
    Good luck! Chris

    No leaks at the loader valve hookup on my BX2680 either, just had a hydraulic leak back at the transaxle right after delivery. Simple turn of a wrench fixed that. No further issues so far in the 6 months I've had my BX. My BX2680 is a -1 model or has been updated/revised whatever they want to call it, so maybe I have the newer version of that coupler.
    The -1 model also has different knobs on all the function levers which seems more comfortable to me than the older orange knobs.
    I have experienced the lack of power steering issue mentioned in the video several times, but what can you really expect with a sub-compact tractor with a lackluster hydraulic system. The BX I think uses the same hydraulic circuit for the power steering and other hydraulic functions possibly? I don't find it all that big of an issue but I find that its quite noticeable for the power steering when doing a lot of loader work. I don't really think its a diverter pump, I think the pump is shared between power steering and hydraulic functions. That's how the hydraulic winches were on our HMMWV's, great idea but you could either use the winch or steer, not both LOL.
    If you are worried about the brake pedal, you probably have a grinder in your shop, use it with a cut off wheel and cut off the brake pedal to the length you want it and weld the pad back on, problem solved.
    Bolts for a cutting edge, yes, a very good easy thing to do...it has a cutting edge welded on the bucket already, those holes are there to provide you with an attachment point for an additional hardened cutting edge if you want to have one. I'd rather have the additional cutting edge and extend the life of an expensive bucket, and those bolts are perfectly fine, especially with my cutting edge that is reversible. I have a straight edge on one side and a serrated edge on the other, I can simply remove all but the center bolt, turn the cutting edge around and put the bolts back in for whichever cutting edge I need....you can't do that when you weld a cutting edge on, and you also cause structural weakness points in the bucket by heating it up during the welding process....bolt on cutting edges are a nice convenient way to have that edge easily replaceable.
    If you don't like the treadle pedal, why did you buy a Kubota? Can't really complain about it since you are the one that bought it and knew what you were buying. The pedal setup is the same on most hydrostatic lawn tractors too, so its easy for most users to jump onto a Kubota and not have to relearn pedals.
    The "Third Function" regardless if you call it that or a diverter valve gets installed on the loader itself, for whatever reason, yeah it seems stupid that its on the loader rather than a valve somewhere on the tractor itself...but its a great way for the dealer to get more $$$$ out of you every time you want another attachment that requires those functions is to charge your for yet another valve assembly LOL. I don't have the 3rd function on my BX, probably never will as I don't have anything that would require the use of it...the only thing I could think of would possibly be a plow blade, but having a snow blower for my lawn tractor the BX just hibernates for the winter as I didn't bother getting any snow removal attachments for the BX because the snow blower doesn't get used much either, so having snow attachments for a tractor that just sit around didn't make much sense...only thing I may get would be the rear 60" grading blade, but a dedicated plow or blower for the BX, no thanks. We really don't get enough snow here in southern Idaho to need much in the way of snow removal attachments...I've used my snow blower twice this year, that's pretty typical for a winter here, but normally I don't get to use it at all LOL.
    I wonder if you could unbolt the 3rd function valve from the loader, shorten the hoses up on the valve and mount it to the same bracket where the loader couplers are, then just get longer hoses to run to your 3rd function attachment on the loader, then when you unhook the loader you are simply disconnected the hoses and the valve would then be permanently on the tractor rather than stuck on the loader being useless when the loader isn't on the tractor...I guess maybe they figured nobody would remove the loader LOL.

    • @OrangeismyNewGreen
      @OrangeismyNewGreen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for all your input William 👍🏻. I have gotten used to the pedals, it’s now easy 👍🏻. I have replaced the bolts for the cutting edge with shorter ones and I think Jon from A Ritter bit will do has the same reversible blade as yours. Thanks again for stopping by and have a great weekend 🙋🏼‍♂️🙂👍🏻

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OrangeismyNewGreen With the brake pedal you have to be wearing your high healed boots to reach it LOL. Honestly hardly ever need the brakes, the hydro will stop you pretty quick, unless on a hill of course...most times the brake pedal is only hit to engage the parking brake.
      Yes Jon has the same cutting edge I do, no drilling holes in the bucket it uses the factory holes which is what I wanted...I've yet to find anything that I really need the serrated edge for though HAHA!!
      I used the bolts that came with the cutting edge so there isn't much sticking up other than the nuts...occasionally you'll get stuff that gets caught on them, but I haven't really had any issues and prefer the add on cutting edge over the welded on one that comes with it from the factory, there really isn't much of an edge there it seems.

    I would add a couple of peeves. The seat could have an up and down adjustment so my feet can reach the pedals. The distance between the fwd and reverse pedals is awkward. I would prefer being able to have heel and toes on the pedals st all times. Worst mistake I made was opting for the very expensive, drive over mower deck. The tolerances of fit are not exact and it is not only difficult to put on but it catches on something, even tall grass, and falls off. Then there is the wimpy throttle control that I feel like I am going to bend every time I adjust engine rpm. “Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the show.”

    • @OrangeismyNewGreen

    Yup pet peeves. I agree on the brake pedal however if it was shorter i think it would be harder to push down becuase of the leverage. As far as the treadle pedal it is safer. I've had both and more than once when backing up looking behind me with my body twisted around my foot would have to find the correct pedal with the them so close to each other.

    That oil leak seams to be a big problem on the bx tractors. There are lot of people that have them and talk about the same thing. Kubota needs to watch these videos and fix that problem. I was waiting for you to get to that stupid treadle pedal. As soon as you mentioned it I just started laughing because it's the number one pet peeve of mine. The twin touch pedals should be standard. Kubota did not have to be different but that's what we get. Otherwise they are awesome tractors!

    The ONLY advantage to me of the treadle pedal is that it is very difficult to press the wrong pedal for the direction you wish to go. Otherwise it is very uncomfortable for me to use the reverse pedal for a long period of time say if you need to back up the length of a driveway. Maybe just my foot or leg. I have used this system on a Kubota forward control machine & absolutely hate it. That is why I will never buy a Kubota.
