The 2002 Daytona 500 was honestly had one of the most funniest fails for a NASCAR race i watched on TH-cam (that and the "Test Drive" commercial break that cut back to the big one)
As a Earnhardt fan that 1990 Daytona 500 was the most heartbreaking loss in the 500 in my opinion. He completely dominated that race and if it wasn’t for the blown tire he would’ve completely swept the weekend.
And it cost him the Winston Million, so the mounted tire came to be known as the $900,000 tire (as he picked up a $100,000 bonus for winning 2 of the 4 Winston Million races).
@@shawnroyal5049 basically the first guy replied like he had something new to add when he basically just reworded what you said. So I did the same thing.
Dale Earnhardt losing the 1990 Daytona 500 was basically the NASCAR counterpart of Toyota losing 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. (So does their evantual wins in 1998 and 2018 respectively.) Also, they still can't spell Keselowski's name right on the description.
That's what Daytona and Talladega is all about it has first time winners and underdogs with teams that are like 4 star or 3 star rating and don't have the speed like the 5 star team's
I love how nobody did anything to sterling till after he was touching the car. Why didn't anyone do anything when they could clearly see a person get out of a stock car?
No Ron Bouchard? Greg Sacks?? Bobby Hillin Jr.??? okay i'm done... NO I'M NOT. Richard Brickhouse? John Andretti?? David Ragan??? you see how when i mention these names you know immediately which race i'm referring to? those are important days for the underfunded "surprise" winner and i wish they would get recognized in videos like this more often. alas..
So you wanted both of David Ragan's victories in the video? Unlike Stenhouse, Roush was still easily the second best organization in NASCAR when he won for them. Sure he was the worst/least experienced driver of the team but that's still basically the equivalent to Erik Jones. I dont think the bottom guy on a fully funded, highly competitive team is an underdog. Then again Vickers was in the video in a Hendrick car (and Erik Jones had a non plate victory prior to that) so maybe that does make his first win count. But his second one was even more underdoggish because it was in Front Row when his career was going downhill and he wasn't likely to ever race for a top team again.
Jason Price yes, Jason. I of course meant the 2013 Talladega win with Front Row. he was a sleeper pick for the 2011 July race at Daytona because of his strong showing in the Daytona 500 that February.
Jason Price also Jason, Erik Jones did not have a non plate victory prior to when he won the 2018 July race at Daytona; his only other win is the 2019 Southern 500

Ward burton shouldn’t have surprised anyone. The year before (2001) had the best car hands down and should have won. Robby Gordon and Stewart getting together and causing the big one took care of that
Danica was in victory lane with Ricky “Beltbuckle” Wreckhouse. Bayne was a bust, Cope was a bust, Haley doubtful he’ll get to Cup, Almirola jury is still out, Ragan is probably a bust too (2 wins).
Those cars from the early 2000s wouldn’t handle at superspeedways with just the tiniest little bit of body damage. Sterling knew that. There’s NO WAY he would’ve won with that damage. Its not like today’s cars - they can take small hits and still be competitive. The aerodynamics were horrible even with that minor damage.

Daytona, anything can happen, that's why I love Daytona.
That's why I kinda hate Daytona. This year we had Byron beating the top 2 and Newman sent to the hospital with a head injury. There's good and bad.
I love the unexpected
Yes
The Edwards flip happened right in front of me. It was crazy seeing that happen in person.
All I think of when i see “upset wins at superspeedways” is David Ragan, such a good driver at Dega & Daytona
Larry McReynolds yelling he did it when Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500 is the best.

F1: anything can hap...
Oh wait, Mercedes has a 90% chance of winning? Oh.
Vickers shouldn't have that win 😤
After tonight’s race at Daytona, you can now add William Byron to this list
I mean Ward had a strong car the year before, so it wasn't as surprising other than of course, Marlin choking it away.
Cinderella bayne is gonna win the datona 500!!! Happy birthday Trevor bayne!!!
I hate how Darrell always had to talk over everyone coming to the flag.
