They’re showing so much love and care to these collections and that’s awesome to see. It isn’t just a collection of games, they’re really ensuring the gameplay is solid and that the news game modes are fitting. With enough support we really could be bring megaman back in a big way.
Great breakdown. Honestly never thought I'd witness the day MMBN would come back in my lifetime and its still shocking months after the announcement. I remember being younger and finishing MMBN 6, hoping for a 7th installment/reading forums posts speculating on what a potential 7th game would look like. Having been so many years I really just wanted to see capcom's acknowledgement of the series and its fans and this is beyond my wildest expectations. It's already a day 1 purchase! with the potential of a remake series or even a 7th game being icing on the cake.
Saaaame. I LOVED these games as a kid. I always wanted more. I would have settled for a reboot series with a new story but the same game mechanics. Just can't get enough of these games.
I had an idea with some friends regarding the battle chip gates, but it would really only be a solution for the Switch version. Rather than physical chips, we could have cards like the physical star cards from EXE's sequel series, since those can be given NFC functionality which would allow the Switch's joycons and pro controller to function as a chip gate that players would already own rather than needing to buy an extra accessory and fumble around with it during gameplay. Nintendo themselves are no strangers to using cards for amiibo functions, so it's not like it'd be impossible to program.
I am hoping that if the collection get a lot of attention after it releases, they continue working on Star Force 4 and hopefully finish it because It had Lan's descendant in it and fans who played Battle Network would love to see this as well

I'm excited for the collection, once pre orders are available, vol 2 will be mine. I made a video about the online battles and I said that perhaps the battles may be popular enough that the collection may have a spot at Evo. Could you imagine BN being at Evo? That would be really cool tbh. I say that if BN is finally back, the PETS can return but re made to somewhat work like in the Anime. Imagine those toys from Pokemon heart gold and soul silver, we can train our Net Navi off the game with the PET. That would be a damn dream come true tbh.
@@RippahRooJizah You never know... time and time again, we've seen "surprises" brought forth by franchises owned by Japanese game developer companies. It's not just Nintendo to come out with stuff not everyone expected (and in many cases, stuff we never asked for) to come out. I wouldn't get my hopes up for them to be doing that in that exact way, but don't get caught off guard if by some chance they do make the extra effort to expand upon this series of games' return besides the return of the games we so highly value to our hearts. I did hear though, that long before the Legacy Collection was announced, that someone talked to Capcom over the fact people wanted the return of Battle Network, leading to that specific person at Capcom to speak in surprise that Megaman fans want that.
I'm growing more hyped by the day. My farfetched and greedy wish is a pvp arena mode where you can battle with at least some navis from across the series. I think since they tried that in 4.5 and left it out, there is a teeny tiny possibility.
Not being greedy... I think they should combine the two versions of each game with multiple versions into their ultimate version, so as to reduce the clone content and really give us the optimal experience possible. But hey, that's just my perspective!
Definitely even more hyped now! Can't wait to start with 3 for it's amount of cards or 6 for overall features first depending on how many people are fighting/trading in either. this is probably more in line with romhack/fangame territory but I wish 5 had pvp liberation missions
I'm kinda wondering, what about stuff like Bass-cross and the like? Y'know, chips and transformations from special events. Would those be accessible in this collection somehow?
I'm hopeful those things will be included somehow, since they've already shown they're going through real effort for other features that could've done less for.
This is probably my favorite game ever, hopefully the Steam version has some mods made for it. It's pretty unbelievable how dedicated the fans of this series are, it's a great community.
At this point, all that's left on my wish list for this collection is the Boktai content, as well as event/crossover chips and souls. Given what we've been hearing, I'm optimistic. I'm also hoping that Steam and/or Amazon will get the complete series soundtrack to download for independent listening. I hate having the OSTs locked behind a monthly subscription to Spotify!
I know this isn't relevant to this side of the planet, but for the first time, these games will get a Chinese translation. For a lot of non-Japanese Asians, it will be their first chance to get to experience the story fully. Anyway, if the Boktai content were removed, do you believe that constitutes as a deal breaker?
More hyped than ever. It would be disgraceful to not begin with bn1, I will 110% the series in order as it should be done. I have to agree that I am super excited also to see if this breathes life into what could not just be a sequence of starforce and legends collections, but maybe even finally finishing legends 3 for said collection (I know, hopeful as ever). I also personally don't believe there may be a huge issue with boktai content, and special event chips, etc. As you mentioned, this is not nintendo as we've seen lately, and I believe their efforts and passion are truly showing they want to do this the right way, on their terms. Otherwise they would have slapped a release date on. I think they are actually paying attention to the community and ensuring everything they can do to make the collection right. For that, I appreciate these creators greatly.
While having the Boktai stuff would be nice, I mainly wanted online play. I was already hyped upon release, though. Despite me loving the BN games (barring 4) I never actually owned any of them.
As a huge fan of the games but never getting into the online communities I'm surprised to see so much hate on BN4. I liked them cuz I thought the Tournaments were cool.

they didn't have to add multiplayer for all the games, it could just be an extra mode that uses all chips you unlocked in the games but balanced properly
I'm constantly praying to be able to canonically play operate StarForce one day without the need to use an emulator... I know it's not normal for Capcom to add side games to their legacy collection but I keep praying for it to be included into the Starforce legacy collection
YES! It's amazing, it's not just a "port" aka just selling an emulator and some ROMs, they are remastering it, doing fixes and tweaks to the games, and online multiplayer! HELL YEAH! Megaman Battle network was a big part of my childhood, and many others, we would watch the anime together on the weekends, play the games, just all around good times, now I and some friends can relieve those memories now! Now here's hoping it sells well for a Star force collection!
On the N1GP stuff, I don't believe it's really possible for Capcom specifically to send a cease and desist order to them as the emulators do not come packaged with the game and the patches all require you to have a copy of the rom you dumped yourself. That said there is the likelihood that they could ask Nintendo for help in that specific case but Nintendo has oddly had a hard time killing emulators and really only goes after rom/iso hosts but it is still a pretty valid concern
I’m hoping for more new content sprinkled throughout. It’d be great to see an overhaul of the games into one single title with the content rebalanced but I feel like it will be a polished port. The little library adds for images or chip tunes is something I can easily skip on. I guess we’ll see how things turn out. My biggest peeve from US releases has been JP only content forcing one to use cheat devices to access. I’m hoping they just give a full access path instead of locking content behind walls.

I was assuming that if it has a release date, it'd probably be after April, mostly so that it appears after the japanese fiscal year starts. if they know if a game would have large sales and they've already had a great year previously then it'd be more lucrative to the investors to release it later. worked for SEGA with stuff like Persona and Yakuza, heck, game reviewers for P5 had their codes early w/the implication that they were going to voice lines in english in dialogue that was unvoiced in japan, but wasn't the case. Yakuza 6 leaked the entire game in its demo and was unchanged from its final western release. on the flipside, Square-Enix buried Balan Wonderworld so that it wouldn't impact on things like FF7R's line of stuff. since they'd just expect to assume the investors will only see 2 days of data and assume it'll pick it up, then they sweep it under the rug.

Didn't the Wii U Virtual Console have have Bass Cross on BN5?
