Enjoying this split screen comparison and the addition of commentary. Enjoyable watch. Thanks!

Awesome job really enjoyed seeing the comparison. That fire definitely has a lot to answer for.

Fingers crossed as more of a long term plan they bring back some kind of variation on that trail. I never got the chance to ride that or even ride Handle but videos I've seen of both look great.

This is great Todd, brings back fond memories. It's fascinating seeing the side-by-side that proves how the trail is unchanged despite it feeling so different.

oh man ... so nostalgic now .. missing tommys and moose knuckle

Tommys is definitely in my top 10 trails anywhere, especially pre chairlift - the speed you could hold in those turns! th-cam.com/video/bBAer7aJxDA/w-d-xo.html
Moose knuckle was a lot of fun too: th-cam.com/video/1NBHhE-jOaI/w-d-xo.html
Did you ever ride Sargent Choco? th-cam.com/video/quXzoKwhl8w/w-d-xo.html

Great vid man! I only hit this trail well once - following Coach CJ with an 'ah screw it, what's the worst that could happen?' mindset. Cleared about 70% of it, and got to the end super stoked and scared shitless in equal measure. Been avoiding it since the fires - too scared of the wind and ruts :(.

It still rides good, you just need to pick your time for wind generally late evening or first thing in the morning, but you need to be confident hitting jumps. If you can ride everything top to bottom clean (no casing and in full control of the bike) and most importantly repeatably every time on 'Name This Trail', then you should be fine to move up to Airtearoa following an experienced rider.

Although I was seriously rat-shit at jumps (still am), I really enjoyed lower Airtearoa. I miss the trees.

So good if they could rebuild the lower section aye. Keep at it, practice is the key!

Its so sad seeing how ruined the trials are because there is no protection from the trees. Everything just soo washed out and rutted. The soil is just like sand and washes away. Without the trees it will never been even close to what it could be. Never got to ride it pre fire but would have loved to.

Yeah not great, but It's not all bad, even if we had trees for trails like Airtearoa / Handle they would still take a hammering from brake bumps and people rolling the lips - look at Whistler / Europe / Skyline in the peak of Summer - nasty! and Swinger Party, Throw The Goat, Yoda are rough and rowdy, great fun on the right bike - remember its mountain biking, not road cycling :) and the other half of the hill with trees has an epic trail network with more to come!
