Listening to this throughout my childhood & just realizing at 35 years old that they wrote this song describing how their fans basically give them life....HITS DIFFERENT. Love them even more now. Special group of guys right there. ❤
Whats more great is that it gives us courage.. make us larger than life..everytime were down u can make it right..how your love affecting our reality..😉
This, a song dedicated to fans, was quite unusual back then and still is, in Western music. However, they do it quite often in kpop. I really like these kind of songs, and remember liking this too. It makes you thankful and proud as a fan 😊
Yep. BSB is known to always put out a fan's song. Brian help co-wrote "Larger than Life". 😍💖 BSB have so many fan's song for example, "Permanent Stain" (co-wrote by Nick), "Feels Like Home" (co-wrote by Howie, Nick, and Kevin), "The One" (co-wrote by Brian), "The Perfect Fan" (aka Mother's day song co-wrote by Brian for his mother and brought in his HS choir into the song), "Soldier" (co-wrote by Howie and Nick), "I Want It That Way" (they didn't wrote it but they brought their fans into their MV), "OK", "Bigger", "In A World Like This", "Everyone", "Shape of My Heart", etc...some songs they didn't wrote it but ignite the idea that they wanted a fan's song for their long time fans. Two songs that all 5 BSB members wrote complete by themselves without help were *"The Answers to Our Lives"* and *"Time"* from their Black and Blue album (2000). I see those two songs as an autobiography songs. Very few of the BSB fan's songs like *"Everyone"* (didn't wrote this song but had two longtime writers who work with BSB since the beginning) show subtle hints they were struggling behind the curtains but thanking their fans....this was amidst ponzi scheme started by their creator/manager taking majority of their money it was in the media/magazine/newspaper for a bit and had great fan supporting them from around the globe...before social media. The internet was starting to become a household thing.
Man not being a native English speaker as a child I was here for the song and vibe but now that I am an adult and understand the lyrics....THIS IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER! A love letter to their fans. ❤❤❤

Its not just the music, choreography, filmography that is amazing... but the message behind it is what make this song so special and meaningful. Overall, I think this is far the most memorable music I have ever listened to. I also love other BSB songs (I want it that way, Show me the meaning of being lonely, Shape of my heart)
Not much of a surprise to be honest, considering they had to buy several dancing AI's, buy at least one spaceship... not to mention the regular staff required for a music video. And this was back in the 1999 mind you.
I feel blessed to be a kid during the 90s. So lucky I got to experience the world before the internet happened, enjoyed 90s music of the BSB, Nsync, Spice Girls, etc. My sister and I Only ever owned 3 albums together and one of them was Millennium. I’m now 31 and I can definitely say that no other boy band ever came close to BSB except Nsync but even then they never attained BSBs worldwide popularit and the fact that they’re still together and still making music is amazing.
Olivia L 32 years old here haha...the rivalry with them and Nsync was brutal among the fans and the dedication unreal. We barely had Internet to use and fan pages were made with angelfire haha I miss those days they were amazing
Never forget the true epitome of boy bands. So good that even boys liked it as much as girls. I still love the Star Wars element such as the droid dancers and laser fire. Yet the modern dance and characterization of the band members still holds good to today as far as I'm concerned.
I miss the 90s too, although I lost both my parents, but my daughter was born in 1995. And I STILL LOVE THE Backstreet Boys and STILL listen to them as does my daughter
Can we talk about how this is one of the only songs I can remember by any artist basically thanking their fans and saying that the fans are the ones that are "larger than life?" Even back in the 90's I thought that was amazing
When I was young I used to HATE boy band music, fast forward 20 years, the genre is kinda catchy with music and good lyrics, good to listen to, at least the non lovey dovey tracks.
I remember rewinding the cassette tape just to hear a song again or repeat it. Now, you just have to click on the screen to listen to it or watch it again. Old but gold. BSB forever!
The pencil was the fix it tool when the cassette would jam and you had to wind it by hand to make sure the tape went in straight I was so happy when CDs started coming out and they had portable CD players my goodness the good old times 😆
Let's be honest here......... These guys stays longer together than most boyband and marriages in Hollywood these days. That's why they are the greatest boyband ever, no offense to 1D and BTS but these guys are on another level then most boyband these days
i think you are right, i love 1D but i like them better on their own. They look so happy as solo artists. The backstret boys really made it cuz they are friends in true life i think
Ya know.... All you people saying that you guys were brought back to the song could have just never stopped listening to it like the rest of us You didn't need some stupid trailer to bring you back to it You could have just listened to it
When I was 13 years old, my grandma gave me a Backstreet Boys CD for Christmas. I couldn’t believe she thought I would ever listen to a boyband. The CD sat on the shelf next to my stereo for about 6 months until one day I decided to put it on to see what their music was about. I’ve never stopped listening since. They truly are Larger Than Life!

+Emelina Verdonck 90s song has a weird yet perfect syncing with time. Nowadays whenever any modern music pops up we can say right away that it's from the current times , just by hearing a little. With the 90s music or in this case , the BSBs's music , never feel old. No matter how many times you'll hear their music , it'll always feel it came out just recently. BSBs music never get old. Not only have they become one of the most legendary bands to come after world modernization. But they've also created never aging music as well. And the best part is , that they all pulled this shit at mostly their teens which is an awesome feat at itself.
i totally agree and theyre stil performing so i think its amazing what they pulled of at the age they started to now im in the bsb army as they say i even have a tatoo of them i just love them again sorry for the bad english im from belgium
You got me wrong I didn't say that there isn't good music today. There is MUCH better music today than in 2000 i agree with you. It's just that the only ones promoted and seen everywhere are not so much the good ones but the rubbish when in 2000s was the opposite :)

I hear you. Much older, I've been nostalgic for the 80's for quite a while now ! Adding some 90's gems like this one to the bunch ;)
It's never coming back my friend!
Actually were just beginning the 1940s when technology was the height of the era!Fiber optics, transmission of radio, the new era where satellites would circumnavigate the globe. And now idea of transmitting imaging by thought.I would say the future is a phase1.
Went and saw Backstreet last summer and it was the best concert I've ever been to. I cried. My childhood was right in front of me ❤
dna world tour was epic. it wasn’t necessarily nostalgic for me (i’m 12), but i swear it was one of the best experiences i’ve ever had. never thought i’d be screaming the lyrics to “get down” at midnight before school! i was pretty much a zombie the next day (i had a test due so i had to go to school), but i wouldn’t have it any other way. they’ve still got it goin on!
edit: when i tell you kevin has not aged at all-
Same! I watched The Backstreet Boys live at Mumbai, India 2023. Listened and watched them over videos for 2.5 decades, totally Dream come true! ❤
I would love to see them live tbh still on my bucket list
ENVIOUS AF!!
Are they touring again next year?
I saw this video once when i was 5. The only thing I remembered from it was the robot's heads spinning at about 2:35. I'm glad to have found it. It's a reminder of better times that i could sorely use these days.
The fact that they made this song as a thanks for the fans is so cute!
And the lyrics tell the harsh reality of fame as well. When I listen to the lyrics,I felt so BAD for them.Amazing, talented guys
They are really amazing and they are still pretty successful which is really cool
*Written to manipulate fans into continuing to support them

Listening to this throughout my childhood & just realizing at 35 years old that they wrote this song describing how their fans basically give them life....HITS DIFFERENT. Love them even more now. Special group of guys right there. ❤
This song was made for their fans. So much respect. I wish today's artist's were as humble.

This, a song dedicated to fans, was quite unusual back then and still is, in Western music. However, they do it quite often in kpop. I really like these kind of songs, and remember liking this too. It makes you thankful and proud as a fan 😊

Oh, while I was reading the lyrics I immediately thought of a fan-idol relationship!. It's nice to know it was a actually a song dedicated to fans 😊
30 August 2021
Thank you Backstreet Boys for the great energy you put out!
Omg. I’m going to cry I can’t take this. I’m here in 2024 and this song was a huge part of my childhood hood . 😩🥹😭
Man not being a native English speaker as a child I was here for the song and vibe but now that I am an adult and understand the lyrics....THIS IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER! A love letter to their fans. ❤❤❤

Small budget bands.
This video is one of the most expensive music videos of all time costing about 2 MIL. Nowadays artists probably can't afford that lol

Lyrics:
I may run and hide
When you're screamin' my name, alright
But let me tell you now
There are prices to fame, alright
All of our time spent in flashes of light
All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
Every time we're down
You can make it right
And that makes you larger than life
Looking at the crowd
And I see your body sway, c'mon
Wishin' I could thank you in a different way, c'mon
'Cause all of your time spent keeps us alive
All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
Every time we're down
You can make it right
And that makes you larger than life
All of your time spent keeps us alive
All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
Every time we're down
You can make it right
And that makes you larger than life
Yeah, every time we're down
Yeah, you can make it right
Yeah, and that's what makes you larger than life
All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
Every time we're down
You can make it right
And that makes you larger
That makes you larger
That makes you larger than life

Its not just the music, choreography, filmography that is amazing... but the message behind it is what make this song so special and meaningful. Overall, I think this is far the most memorable music I have ever listened to. I also love other BSB songs (I want it that way, Show me the meaning of being lonely, Shape of my heart)
Fun fact: this video cost the backstreet boys $2 million and is in the top 20 of most expensive music videos in history
Not much of a surprise to be honest, considering they had to buy several dancing AI's, buy at least one spaceship... not to mention the regular staff required for a music video. And this was back in the 1999 mind you.
Lucas is an expensive director. This is almost as good as Star Wars: A Holiday Special.
Backstreet Boys: Let's make a music video like this.
Reality: How much did it cost you...?
Is scream, Michael Jackson.
This song deserves a million likes.

Never forget the true epitome of boy bands. So good that even boys liked it as much as girls. I still love the Star Wars element such as the droid dancers and laser fire. Yet the modern dance and characterization of the band members still holds good to today as far as I'm concerned.

Hahaha me too 🤣🤣🤣
The pencil was the fix it tool when the cassette would jam and you had to wind it by hand to make sure the tape went in straight I was so happy when CDs started coming out and they had portable CD players my goodness the good old times 😆

same for all of their songs their timeles sorry for the bad grammar im from belgium

Good music is tough to find on mainstream radio but thank god we have Sirius XM
This was the time of Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. It wasn't that pure, though it was better than it is now.
Oh I'm definitely comparing based on today's music... :P
You got me wrong I didn't say that there isn't good music today. There is MUCH better music today than in 2000 i agree with you. It's just that the only ones promoted and seen everywhere are not so much the good ones but the rubbish when in 2000s was the opposite :)
