Bullion Forever I just cut my finger 2 times while i tried to replace my civilians back lock without this srategic move. I have lot to learn. :'D Next time will be easier thank this video.
Thank you so much! I feel like an idiot. I sat here for 15-20 min trying to figure out how to get the scales back on with the lock bar under tension. Your video really helped.
Dude, don't down talk yourself. Excellent JOB ! I watched and I was waiting to see how you handled the lock bar / tension. You mastered it! I don't know if I will take my apart but if I do I know you will have made it easy peasy.
Great idea installing the lock bar last. I have a black Delica, my first Spyderco I bought in 1994. I lost the first one two years after I bought it, the clip was plastic and molded into the scale, it’s replacement which I have to this day has a metal clip on it and you cannot disassemble it like you can on the 4.
After watching this, I decided to throw my endurance 4 super gold blade and gold bar in my green zome frame/ scales. It’s what I’ve been waiting for. Looks sick. Thanks for vid. Everyone always says delica/ endura disassembly sucks but I actually found it easier than para 2/3.
O man, this video is a win. I am currently reassembling my delica 4 and didn't realize that the locking bar and tension wire assembly go together last. SMH, should have viewed this prior to attempting another route.
thanks a lot for video!:) i disassembled my spyderco endura 4 and i had no idea how to put it back until i watched your video. Thank you again for the video!
I've never taken one of these all the way apart before. Sure glad I found your video, or I may not have ever got the spring and lock bar back in place. The blue tape on the blade was a great idea. I had just sharpened mine recently, and would have sliced my thumb off during the reassembly. I'll save this video. Good job. Thanks man!
Thanks you! I couldn't figure out how to get the locking bar back in. I was trying to do it before putting the scales back together. This was so much easier than what I was trying to do.
Great vid. The delicas assembly is just as simple as the tenacious family's assembly. With practice you can strip, clean, lube, and reassemble under 15 min. The speeds safes from Kershaw are easy too.
Thanks for posting this vid. I spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to install the lock bar I wish I would have gave up sooner and looked up you vid.
got my delica 3 years ago and used it for everything you can imagine, opening cans, carving, food prep, even dropped it in a lake twice. FFG one too, all that is wrong is a bit of bladeplay and the handle scuffed up a bit. 10/10 knife
Thanks for the video. I have been thinking of taking my delica apart for cleaning. I had heard that it was a pain in the ass to resemble. I really like your technique for putting the lock bar in. That looks like it's probably the simplest method.
READ THIS! Struggled by myself with the last step of "lockbar and lockbar post insertion" a hundred times or so. Decided it can't be done without three hands. Waited for my wife to help insert the post, while I held the forward and rear of the lockbar down, and it was a piece of cake. Get a helper. Now I have awesome $60.00 Ghost Jade Scales on my favorite name-inscribed blade with Emerson wave opener. This could never be my "favorite" knife before because I can't stand the stock FRN plastic feel, but - Badass now...
another way for assembly, is to fully assemble the handle with a lockbar, sqeeze it and fix it with zip tie, and then just put the blade and washers in with a help of a toothpick like on a axis lock or other folders.
Well Done! Thank you for taking the time to do this video for us. I've been seriously considering buying this knife and was keen to see the construction compred to the mini griptillian. I think they skimped a bit on the material for the pivot bushings which look a little on the thin side compared to the griptillian. I think they are both great knives though.
i got a stretch in zdp i notice some people with there flick knives sand the pivot points and bronze washers to get a better smooth action and i attempted that however i end up failing been wondering if i put it together wrong cause there is alot of tension moveing it even with the stuff sanded to be smoother less friction....or if i do get it loose then my knife is refuseing to lock ((but tightening it it will lock approprietly)) any sudgestions
Nicely done sir; not as bad to do as I've heard. I recently fitted new grips to a Benchmade Mini-Grip, and it was a bitch and a half to do because of, you guessed it, annoying bronze washers :D Got it done after about twenty minutes of cursing.
I took apart my delica 4 white FRN sprint series, bad idea >< lol and i am always taking apart my knives, it fun and i enjoy it, but, this delica, was a pain lol o and p.s i lost one of those washers (was a first lol) spyderco mailed me some new ones for free, so dont worry too much
Great video. I'm considering taking my Delica apart and spray painting the handles. Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use on an FRN handle would be great.
Thanks! I ended up buying a used blaze orange delica and will use your video to swap out the combo serated and plain edge blade from another delica. Making what I have trouble finding. A blaze orange combo edge delica! :-)
Dear bro, first time when I was assemble my SpyDelica your video save me. Without you video I couldn't finished my job properly. Thanks, you bro.
Fantastic strategy on the most difficult part which is reassembling the lock bar to the spring and blade. That part was nerve racking.
Bullion Forever I just cut my finger 2 times while i tried to replace my civilians back lock without this srategic move. I have lot to learn. :'D Next time will be easier thank this video.
I gave up on tension bar and found this video. Many thanks. You did much better for the first time than I.
Thank you for the tip on that last part! Struggled with it for a whole hour before discovering this method in your video!
Thank you so much! I feel like an idiot. I sat here for 15-20 min trying to figure out how to get the scales back on with the lock bar under tension. Your video really helped.
You just save me to an nervous breakdown dude!greating from France!thanx!
Dude, don't down talk yourself. Excellent JOB ! I watched and I was waiting to see how you handled the lock bar / tension. You mastered it! I don't know if I will take my apart but if I do I know you will have made it easy peasy.
I can't thank you enough for this video. like a fool I ripped into my delica and couldn't figure out how to get the damn lock bar in. thanks a ton.

Thank you! You saved my skin! This is the easiest method to disassemble and put Delica 4 together.
O man, this video is a win. I am currently reassembling my delica 4 and didn't realize that the locking bar and tension wire assembly go together last. SMH, should have viewed this prior to attempting another route.

Thank you. I bought some moon glow scales and when I took it apart....surprise!...it blew up...had trouble with lock bar but your video saved the day!
Dude you have the patience of a saint
Thanks alot, have used other methods on my Delica but this one, lockbar last was the easiest. Now I can clean my Enduras and Salts. Big help.
Thanks you! I couldn't figure out how to get the locking bar back in. I was trying to do it before putting the scales back together. This was so much easier than what I was trying to do.
Thanks! Still relevant and very helpful. Patience is still a virtue. Thanks for that example as well.
Man BIG Thank you! You saved my sanity with that spring mechaninc at the back. I was trying to push it before assembling the knife.... :( Thank you!
Great vid. The delicas assembly is just as simple as the tenacious family's assembly. With practice you can strip, clean, lube, and reassemble under 15 min. The speeds safes from Kershaw are easy too.
Thanks a lot; was switching blades between 2 Delicas and ended up with a bag of parts until I saw this video!
Thanks for posting this vid. I spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to install the lock bar I wish I would have gave up sooner and looked up you vid.
I used this video to do my disassembly. It wasn't too bad. I've seen several other channels really struggle with this.
Man thank you the tension bar on my stretch was really testing my nerves
Good way to assemble!! I do it slightly different but same end result :)
oh my god thank you for making this, that lock bar reinstall was frustrating me lol, much simpler.
Excellent video. Interesting, informative and well explained. Thanks for posting.
Thanks a lot man! My dumb ass tried to put back the locking bar with the knife folded. Way easier wit it having 2 points of alignment.
got my delica 3 years ago and used it for everything you can imagine, opening cans, carving, food prep, even dropped it in a lake twice. FFG one too, all that is wrong is a bit of bladeplay and the handle scuffed up a bit. 10/10 knife
Great video! You saved me much time and headaches...
Thanks for the video. I have been thinking of taking my delica apart for cleaning. I had heard that it was a pain in the ass to resemble. I really like your technique for putting the lock bar in. That looks like it's probably the simplest method.
You can used canned air to blow out the lint and also cotton swabs with alcohol. Faster than taking it all apart, less stress on screw threads.

I've been tempted to swap my FFG blade & my saber grind blade. Thanks for the video!
Came here for the lock bar issue nice strategy thanks!
couldnt have done it without your vid... thanks!
Awesome Video ! Thank you for taking the time to share this valuable info.
Best Delica reassembly vid on youtube!
another way for assembly, is to fully assemble the handle with a lockbar, sqeeze it and fix it with zip tie, and then just put the blade and washers in with a help of a toothpick like on a axis lock or other folders.
Thank you, nice and informative. Not boring at all.
Well Done!

Never boring, very interesting!
I love the sound of the screwdriver
Ha. Just one of those things.
life saver...as he comments 8 years later
Your locking bar screw was so much easier than mine
How would Spyderco know if you disassembled the knife or not?
thanks man. btw... not boring at all. keep em comin
i got a stretch in zdp i notice some people with there flick knives sand the pivot points and bronze washers to get a better smooth action and i attempted that however i end up failing been wondering if i put it together wrong cause there is alot of tension moveing it even with the stuff sanded to be smoother less friction....or if i do get it loose then my knife is refuseing to lock ((but tightening it it will lock approprietly)) any sudgestions
Big help.....especially putting the locking bar last.
Can a delica 2 stainless steel be taken apart and fixed??
Until you said otherwise when I first saw the black scales on the FFG Delica, my first thought was Rit Dye.
My pivot screw is really tight and hard to turn also my torx bit slips do I need a better torx bit driver, I'm afraid that it might get stripped
i know that the clip and handle screws are t6 but are they interchangeable? are they identical in terms of head shape and thread length?
I'm confused. There's quite a few black FFG Delica 4's for sale on various websites.
My pivot screw is really tight and hard to move and my screw bit slips, do I need a better torx bit
My Delica didn't have loctite on the pivot screw. Is that the norm?
in the case of a bent pocket clip like that, will spyderco not give you a new one if you contact them? i know crkt will do it.
Nicely done sir; not as bad to do as I've heard.
I recently fitted new grips to a Benchmade Mini-Grip, and it was a bitch and a half to do because of, you guessed it, annoying bronze washers :D Got it done after about twenty minutes of cursing.
Guess the Endura is the same? How was blade centering after reassembly? Thx
Great job, thanks! How has the Husky driver held up? I'm thinking to get one.
They work well unscrewed and rescrewed maby 20 screws all the way to the max
Glad I found your video...thanks
HUGE help bud! Thanks!
I took apart my delica 4 white FRN sprint series, bad idea >< lol
and i am always taking apart my knives, it fun and i enjoy it, but, this delica, was a pain lol
o and p.s i lost one of those washers (was a first lol)
spyderco mailed me some new ones for free, so dont worry too much
Nice video I think You forgot to loctite the locking bar screw before you put it back in
Mine had two washers in the pivot pin. They both had a slight bend to them. Is that normal?
yup compression style allows room for break in
Spyderco no longer sells parts kits.
how many bushings did you have? i have 3
Great help bud! Thanks...!!!
This was great!
I dont know how ive done this four times...
thank you you helped me
Idk if i should do this
TrackMasterNate did you do it?
Thanks, learned a ton!
Thank you so much!
Thanks man I dropped my endura in sand imma try taking mine
22:00 thanks man
Great video very well done thanks
i hope you oiled that knife after you washed it
A lot of play in blade if its loose enough to fall.. pretty bad in that department
Excellent. Thank you
Great video. I'm considering taking my Delica apart and spray painting the handles. Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use on an FRN handle would be great.
Cardo Lianez - FRN is nylon. No paint will work on it.
Thanks! I ended up buying a used blaze orange delica and will use your video to swap out the combo serated and plain edge blade from another delica. Making what I have trouble finding. A blaze orange combo edge delica! :-)
Thank you fixed my pika 2
I miss you!
I enjoyed the vid!
Thank you!!!
Sir, I guess that the "painters' tape", over the blade's edge, for the disassembly of the knife, went out-the-window as a safety-precaution, huh?
nice job.
Put different scales on it
helps a lot
cut the absolut fuck outta of my ring finger because i didn't have tape on the blade. FUUUUCK
thanks for the vid
Sweet!!!
thanks man
You can get a black delica 4 ffg on bladehq.com
