How to make a knife - beginners tutorial - sand casting technique

  • In this video I show you how to make a cheese knife using the sand casting technique. A good tutorial for beginners! I am using a large vertical flask to cast the knife. I also include how I clean up the knife after casting.

    Fantastic! Great idea for a gift. How about small spoons as gifts for a new-born? The curve might make it more difficult I guess?

    Hi, you mentioned using your brass scraps, do you cast with brass? I was told that it was too toxic to do at home?

      I have a well ventilated room with an extractor and I wear a ventilation mask :)

    What was the tool you used to flatten the blade ?
    Do you use delft or petrabond clay?

      Yeah she loved it :) I use an old valve from an engine to flatten the blade.
      I use delft clay, petrobond is way too crumbly
