I remember watching ER and always wanting these two to be together!! I don't remember as much about the later seasons (because I didn't watch as loyally as before), but I do think Luka and Abby were good as well.
The fight, the argument and the frustration are so true as a couple. Love them and live the show. Pitty that carter was attracted by Abby for two years and at the end they are together but it’s didn’t work out. This is love that it’s not perfect. It’s maybe more beautiful when it has to be end.

This makes me sad because in the end Abby did change - and i don't think it has anything to do with Luka, but mostly her carreer, during s11 and 12 she was so much better, and i wish Carter wouldve been there to see that!

Maura and Goran had much more chemistry than Noah and Maura and the writers recognized that, as did most of the fans. Luka and Abby were the “meant to be” coupling, not Abby and Carter. Sorry.

Zsófia Balogh Exactly. Carter went to the “end of the earth” to get away from Abby. That’s how much it pissed him off that Abby wouldn’t conform herself into his ideal woman. 😏 Luka ALWAYS loved Abby for who she was and never once tried to change anything about her.

I don’t need to be fixed snd she was put off by it, she ignored the red flags that Carter was nothing more than a friend who was obsessed with trying to fix her..Luka was the real deal for Abby but back then she still had some growing up to do and for carter to exit because Luby needed a chance to flourish and they did by season 12 and rest of series

And on rewatches, it’s so completely obvious that the writers quickly switched focus when they actually had Abby and Carter together and realized their romantic chemistry was non-existent and started really crafting the Abby/Luka endgame. Carter and Abby never loved each other and it’s glaringly obvious, so it’s baffling that anyone still thinks they should have ended up together. 🙄
Carter made a biggest mistake in his life. His wealth always on his way for loves and life style. Abby came from tough American ordinary family. Abby is smart and caring. Her tough life can not go through everything, love, patients, relationship, career. Abby is the one for cater. Abby is the one. You don’t go from claiming to love someone and wanting to fix them the entire course of dating to dropping them for Africa without even caring about how she felt and comes back in love with a pregnant African girl to boot. Carter never loved Abby that way. Maggie even told Carter you gotta love Abby even if she never changes and that didn’t sit well with Carter so he dumped her.. Luka and Abby would of gotten a better start to their relationship 1 if Carter hadn’t of been interfering all the time. He impregnated someone else less than four months after breaking up with Abby. Something tells me he’s not pining for her. 🙄

Luka wanted a wife and children so badly he was attracted to any woman who had kids but it was never gonna work for them. Luka deserved his own family and not having to tag onto someone else’s family and he made his own with Abby.
