THAT is an excellent response. We all find ourselves in every movie or song or story or poem. If we don't...then the story is bad...or we have not lived. I suggest you watch The Lunchbox with Irfan Khan and the incomparable Nimrat Kaur. I found parts of myself there.
Disgustingly intimate, preciously sorrowful and beautiful, and makes you feel ways you can't express in any other medium besides the combination of sound and image. Wonderfully done, one of my favorite movies ever made.
If there was one thing I had to love about this movie it would be how real it portrayed raw emotion much like in the scene above. The portrayal of a person in a characters past via flashback helps, but the humanizing factor of home videos and knowing the meaning something like that has with everyone of us makes such a statement and absolutely nails this scene. Still one of my favorite songs on the soundtrack to boot.
Mike Kangas another reason why it's so real is because the girl in the flashback videos is directors real ex-girlfriend... That's what I've read somewhere
To you-- the one I undoubtedly, unconditionaly, and unceasingly wanted, yet wanted another, I devote this song to you. I have longed for you long enough but realized that no lifetime, no reality, nor universe would we ever be together. And that the only way to mend the pain is to try so hard to look for these simple yet profound things that reflect how my intense longing for you feels, just like this song. And I find comfort in that. To you-- I wish that you find the happiness you deserve my love, even though it doesn't include me. For myself-- I hope that by writing this I'd be able to carry all the load, the memories, and my remaining hopes a little lighter than usual. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next year, who knows? But one thing's for sure-- for now, I endure.
