FighterZ had great animation, voice acting, sound effect choices to fit the theme, camera angles, etc. But my one complaint is they have no battle damage. Goku looks like he had a bath and got his gi sewn and sent to the cleaners before the cutscene happened.

Yup, commented on a vid before lol that they've been milking the Z storyline all the way from Legacy of Goku 1-3. Change platforms, update mechanics, add things here and there, that's it lol make alot of money with minimal work needed, its just modifying the same material.
I still think the first Budokai and Burst Limit had the most heart in their cutscenes. Well-animated, great camera angles, and Kenji Yamamoto's awesome music makes them still hold up. I just got through the Namek saga in Kakarot and I honestly don't think the SSJ transformation was as good this time around. It felt underwhelming. Probably because I've seen it too many times.

Goku's wearing his gi which looks brand new, Krillin's wearing his gi, also brand new, and Gohan and Piccolo aren't even there. Before killing Krillin, Frieza kills Piccolo. But I guess that's a minor event. They didn't even include the correct battleground, forgot frieza almost literally died from the spirit bomb, Krillin showed no fear like a man and Frieza looks like he's having a... *blast*

Budokai had one of the best ways to tell the story. And the way Goku yelled "its over frieeeezaaa!" Is still my favorite version. His delivery in Budokai on that line is amazing and Burst Limit is right behind it

Budokai had the best scene hands down. Even with it being on PS2 it aged amazingly. Still looks good today and better than all the others that were made far afterwords.

1:40 This part specifically, really set the bar in my eyes for other games to come. Budokai 1 was such a good introduction to many fans. The fight afterwards however, god that was difficult.
I remember coming off the high of that cutscene and then immediately getting knocked down by Frieza and losing my SS form. Really takes the wind out of the sails of the encounter, but at least makes it satisfying when you do eventually win. SS form drained Goku's ki *way* too fast. Granted, the gameplay is so lacking in depth that it hardly matters. Transforming was more useful in just allowing you brief, instantaneous invincibility to ignore projectiles and such for a time, rather than the intended reason of having buffed damaged values.

Honestly. Budokai 1's version still looks the best to me. In-terms of how the scene was handled. The way Goku reacts to kuririn all the way to how Goku's hair begins to go spikey glowing hair. The transition to Goku starring at the screen/Freeza was done exceptionally well. And his: "OWARI DA FURIZA" scene was freaking convincing as heck. A DB Game with modernized budokai 1 character models with better visual effects and as good or if possible, better execution than budokai 1 would be a match made in heaven.
the Budokai track that played during that scene, and most transformation scenes, was one of the most epic tracks in any DBZ game man. I was always obsessed with that specific track. but yeah Kakarot is definitely my favorite version because it was so incredibly accurate to the anime. chills.

A DB Game with modernized budokai 1 character models with better visual effects and as good or if possible, better execution than budokai 1 would be a match made in heaven.
I think bt2 is seriously underrated.

yeah but they had a great gameplay of this game like in budokai tenkaichi 3 but in these best games had bad cutscenes with bad animation like this

the Budokai track that played during that scene, and most transformation scenes, was one of the most epic tracks in any DBZ game man. I was always obsessed with that specific track.
but yeah Kakarot is definitely my favorite version because it was so incredibly accurate to the anime. chills.
