BTS paved the Way for Kpop GLOBALY, is a old saying but always true... Kpop was niche and now look at it, bts made it easier for the new ones, of course new groups make sacrificas, work hard and have their own stories but the genre and some groups would not be as big as they are, if you look old interviews they say they i want a daesang, i want melon top one, music shows,,, now everyone is talking about Billboard, bb hot 100 and global, that shows the Impact and how bts changed the Industry and allowed Kpop groups to dream bigger while actually knowing there is a chance to achive it Anyways, i love my boys, ia have grow with them, they were with me in my darkest moments and i cano wait to be back toguether soon, army since 2016 and forever ❤
It is a combination of reasons why BTS made it big: 1. BTS also had a concept given to them by the company to be macho since its a hip hop group. Jin was told he is the handsome oldest so no goofing around. However they had no choice but to resort to social media to pronote themselves so yes their personalities shone through and audiences related to them. 2. They weren't singing about the normal topics in kpop but about social issues, school issues and dreams. 3. They were doing things most kpop groups werent doing in performances because they had to try different things to garner attention since they didnt have the normal means. 4. They never really changed, so fans grew and grew and grew and most fans werent casual, they were die hards so it really was just a matter of time that once they got big enough to chart well in the US, the support was constant and growing which is why they got a foot hold in the market and stayed.
i think jin is most under rated vocalist in bts but his songs are the one which hit the hardest in feels during concerts , he always recieves standing ovation during his solos in concerts and everyone sings along with him . 23:06 you are partially correct . It wasnt just girlgroups but boygroups too , the american media introduced public to kpop by writing articles about how everything was manufactured and how everyone was plastic (which was true to large extent at that time , even now) . There was no authenticity in music as the idols were not even allowed to give their input in anyway other than their vocals , they were given a persona that they had to potray in front of the fans and public and this is why the term artist and idol was seperated because they were all kinda manufactured rather than working on their own craft . girls generation's jessica jung was kicked out because she didnt agree with other girls on the type of content they wanted to release so they just vote her out and her contract was canceled soon . she never discussed it openly but wrote a book (which was said to be fictional , with different names ofc) and it was about how a girl was dismissed from her group and etc. while BTS was nobodies with no money , no nothing were given freedom to write and produce what they felt . they were the ones to create their own variety show due to lack of promotion with no funds , they were raw and honest(people fell in love with their personality) and ofcourse their music was good . 37:04 every army hates ellen and loves jimmy fallon . 46:35 people hate it when we say BTS paved the way when it only means that they made it easier for everyone else but it is because of them kpop groups can promote and can be nominated in award shows without facing such difficulties like they did (the kpop category in award shows exists because of them , the kpop albums are available everywhwere easily bcs army begged for bts albums) . its a fact and no one can change it . they took the criticism and generalised the idea of kpop to large extent so that others have it a bit easy and dont have to face on face racism like this . 58:34 the sentence that you said just now is literally a belief of our fandom for years "BTS finds you when you need them the most" . it is such a coincidence that you said something similar .
What yg said here about crying and being scared as the pressure of blowing up is placed on him is such a real and heavy thing to admit. He talks about it in a few interviews. Mostly the hardship of having no one to get advice from because they were pretty much the first ones to achieve this kind of success. And as a stayarmy I worry bout skz esp Chan since they’ve also been on a crazy train in blowing up. I watch yg on his suchwita episodes interviewing and giving advice to younger artists or discussing their hardships when he interviews the other bts members and I wish Chan or 3racha could be guests on his show. Think they’d get a lot of comfort and guidance from suga. Wishful thinking that maybe Chans seen some of the episodes.
The word I think you were looking for was probably medley at around 40:00 😂 took me awhile to figure out but I can imagine you had it on the tip of your tongue ❤ Love your reactions and analysis
23:53 When you mentioned doll I thought of this song by Huh Yunjin (from le sserafim) 'I ≠ DOLL' . I really recommend listening to this song! It's a song abt the same topic.
