That engine was not restored…it had a very light clean and paint was applied, even over the top of rust! Nothing measured for spec and no bolts were torqued, just tightened. Pistons we’re not cleaned, just carbon scratched off the top. Bores weren’t even honed, valves not checked or reseated. One of the sloppiest and most useless rebuilds I ever seen. It doesn’t even remotely surprise me that it didn’t start at the end and sounded like it was grinding itself to death when turning over. Overall, a total failure!!! Yep, this engine is ready to con and rip off some poor unsuspecting buyer who will be told it was totally restored. 🤬🤬🤬

Хотя в сша в сороковые годы он уже претерпел модернизацию и был уже верхнеклапанным. И там в сша он выпускался тоже долгие годы с изменениями до конца 70х годов. Единственно отличие нашего от их тем что у нас привод грм был шестеренчатый. А у них цепной. Крышка грм так и осталась такой же овальной

ГАЗ-51 быть не может, т.к на нём был однокамерный карбюратор К-22. А здесь впускной коллектор под двухкамерный К-126. Да и свечи этот горе-реставратор почему-то поставил с длинной резьбой. И стартер на ГАЗ-51 был с механическим включением(ногой) а не с электро- магнитным втягивающим. Головка блока ГАЗ-51 была чугунная. Поршни ГАЗ-51 в дюймовом измерении. Если это двигатель газоновский, то от ГАЗ-52 или какой- то гибрид.

Oh shit...I thought that was an intake manifold gasket exhausting near the water pump...but you can see exhaust pressure coming out of the water pump outlet...lol, head and block resurfacing needed or cracked block. It was painful to see that new head gasket going onto an uncleaned wet surface and get torqued down.
You should really apply the RTV sealant on the inside of the bolt holes on the timing cover or else the engine will leak oil,I was told by an engine builder that you shouldn't used RTV silicone sealant on cork gaskets because that RTV can be spat out of the side of the engine therefore causing a leak, I have seen an engine which another builder built who did that but maybe you shouldn't. My guess is that the valves weren't checked & aren't even sealing or they're even holding open, I didn't see you check the cylinders (clearances , condition, etc) & give them a proper hone if they didn't need to be bored out & oversized pistons fitted. I think that the engine isn't running due to a lack of compression !
You’re going to want to invest in overalls and safety boots when working around heavy mechanical devices such as an engine…which, by the way, was wheezing all over the place when you tried to start it up.

Ele nem tirou as válvulas para verificar o estado delas, se o assentamento delas estavam perfeitos ou a necessidade de troca delas ou das guias. Esse motor certamente não irá rodar por muito tempo.

I think that it's more than the carburettor as to why the engine doesn't run,I think that it doesn't have enough compression to run !
I have rebuilt these. I did NOT see you hand lap the valves into the seats.
