I'm truly the quietest guy but when I saw them live I couldn't keep my feet on the ground, what the hell is wrong with these people?! SHOW THE LOOOOVE!
+Jozef Racek maybe they're always ready in case some terror shit starts but seriously may be cause its a festival and most that crowd didn't really dig em.
"nothing" is a strong world in this case, because the paranoid rythms and the maniac vocals on most of the tracks of them really remembers me of Talking Heads, but of course all of those bands you cited have a big influence in their sound too.
I#m not much into this kind of music, but it reminds me a bit of german band "blumfeld" and I like it very much. Discovered them yesterday at arte festival.
guess they're just a good mix cause I heard some doors in the third tune. and yeah singer alternates between mark e smith and Byrne. all that said they're one of those bands for me I hope make this sound for at least ten more years. don't pull a mgmt on us. and if by chance you haven't heard the fall check em out. 20 or more full albums similar to this. peace to everything!
Love the Band, Hate the Crowd. ....you guys paid money to just stand there and not react to utter human emotion. you don't have to do stupid shit like mosh or whatever but there is a thing called vibe. Just vibe that shit out.
PITCHFORK: My HIPSTERS Frenz, pleeze help me out with this. For every 1 great thing PITCHFORK has, for all their CRED in the INDY world, why do they SUCK so fucking bad? Look at their lists. up to 70 % is accolate garbage, leftover MTV rot, real CRAP RAP and girlie folk singers. Please, take the needle out of your arm and put it back on the RECORD. This one starts off with my Favorite song of the YEAR so far!!
They'd gain mainstream success in a minute if they cut their songs by like, 2 minutes. Otherwise, a nice devoted following will probably be the fate of the band.
not knocking ms cause many great things came of it for all the shit it gets but some bands don't care or worse would be compromising their deal somehow. but yeah I'd like to hear em on at least npr here in Louisville. only way I found em was on an Atlanta station, album 88. awesome band though, kind that shuts up the 'there ain't no good new music' folk. sorry. I ramble.
I'm not sure about the whole mainstream success thing but I listened to sun coming down and I loved it, but sometimes I did feel like some of the songs could have been shorter.
I want to like this band so much more than I actually do. IMO, Tim needs to lose the guitar so he can be freed up to deliver the lyrics in a more dynamic way. After binging on the albums, I was so disappointed to see them live. There's so much GenX fury and sneering sarcasm in the lyrics (rare to find in Millennials), I was expecting this to be reflected on stage. It wasn't. David Byrne? Maybe, but Byrne didn't have a guitar to contend with. This set is a snooze. Zzz. Zzz.
I actually agree. Was saying that as I saw them in Toronto the other night. Tim is an amazing performer - as in actor. While I like tight bands without extra people on stage (... broken social scene, arcade fire, oy...), I can see them benefitting from a 5th on guitar to allow him to go full tilt as the amazing frontman that he could be, which we only see hints of yet.
RIP Ought. Their music has meant so much to me over the last few years, and “Habit” and “Beautiful Blue Sky” are two of my favorite songs of all time.
Bassist and singer are in a different great band called cola with a different drummer I think
0:00 Today, More Than Any Other Day
5:32 The Weather Song
10:10 Habit
16:04 Pleasant Heart
21:24 Beautiful Blue Skies
Best post-punk album in years. Blew me away.
I'm truly the quietest guy but when I saw them live I couldn't keep my feet on the ground, what the hell is wrong with these people?! SHOW THE LOOOOVE!
+Andrea Giacomo Ciarelli That's a Parisian crowd for ya. They only dance for cheese.
I'm kidding I love my Parisian homies. Je vous aime.
+Jozef Racek maybe they're always ready in case some terror shit starts but seriously may be cause its a festival and most that crowd didn't really dig em.
Wow that drummer is amazing.
Great band delighted to have seen them, more than any other band.
Ought sounds perfect live they sound just like they do on the studio versions.
Beatiful Blue Skies is awesome. ''i feel alright,i feel alright,i feel alright''
It's probably the best song I've ever heard, there is so much meaning in those lyrics.

Beautiful Blue Sky - Where has this song been all my life?
gorgeous song, feels like a continuation of Life Without Buildings
i genuinely believe habit is one of the best song ever. the amount of joy i feel while listening to it is almost unbearable.
Give a shout to bands that permanently pushes your mind life and heart and drive to its next limit
So flippin great
First time I heard this band, they sound very unique, it's fantastic!
This band is so good. Listening to the upcoming release Sun Coming Down. It's killer.
shout out to that one person in the crowd goin Cray and singing along to everything.
Yes !
Next time these guys come to Toronto I'm going to rock out harder than this whole crowd combined.
Found my way here from Darcy's solo set on NPR. Reminds me of Dismemberment Plan circa "Emergency & I" or "Is Terrified."
love this band
Everybody is saying Byrne, but I hear Television (Violent Femmes specifically at times). This band is super promising.
Brandon Henderson I also hear a little "The Talking heads"
+in7erpol lol Byrne is "the talking heads"
Ought and Protomartyr are the next big thing.
+Fabio Dewitt For sure. Protomartyr are great. Joe Casey has some of the most spectacular greasy charisma I've ever seen.
The Fall as well..
Cinématographie incroyable, performance capturée incroyable. Bravo à tous ceux qui ont rendu possible cet événement, la musique et le cinéma.
Fucking amazing show.
Pretty sure the lead singer is Joesph Gordon-Levitt.
An Electric Blanket caught my sister on fire. Watch the flames burn and the face melt.
YES!!!!
Reminds me of Velvet underground and The talking Heads
What’s he saying in the 2nd chorus of beautiful blue sky that kind of rhymes with time and off again? It’s not in the studio version.
me the lead singer in the MTL a couple days ago super chill dude
This is nothing like Talking Heads, though. It's way more Wire, The Fall and Television than anything else
early heads vocalization style. the nerdy lyrics and speaky delivery.
"nothing" is a strong world in this case, because the paranoid rythms and the maniac vocals on most of the tracks of them really remembers me of Talking Heads, but of course all of those bands you cited have a big influence in their sound too.
There some early heads influence here but vocally he is a direct clone of Mark E Smith
richtig gut die Jungs.
This bands lyrics are all Momar Quadafi poems.
Last song is the fucking best
Nice
I#m not much into this kind of music, but it reminds me a bit of german band "blumfeld" and I like it very much. Discovered them yesterday at arte festival.

class
name of the last song? it's great!
♥
Tim Darcy really just sounds like mark e smith but it’s okay because he does a good job at doing it
Im getting a Mark E Smith vibe
Vibe? He's directly copying him
aa357 no
These guys are crazy. I like it!
Love the Band, Hate the Crowd. ....you guys paid money to just stand there and not react to utter human emotion. you don't have to do stupid shit like mosh or whatever but there is a thing called vibe. Just vibe that shit out.
They are Pitchfork readers, they generally don't appreciate good music.
A mix of David Byrne and The Fall.
The Fall-Totally Wired
I've never seen such an apathetic crowd, damn
Well, they are Pitchfork readers
Thomas McIntyre Why all this hate towards Pitchfork?
Rafael Ramos maybe because the band sucks? the non-apathetic people already left.
Thomas McIntyre They're also French.
Rafael Ramos
That's because this is in France.
This guys must have a shrine to pray every night to David Byrne.
it's a good thing
yup, I have one too
Nah they have one for Mark E. Smith
i honestly think its a bit too nostalgic
This crowd is making me so mad
I've kinda noticed that Paris crowds are garbage
Actually i rather listen to them fully, than a crowd screaming "whooooo" or "yeaaaaaa". I liked it.
Shout to the cameramen
honestly surprised how dead the audience is during Habit
Karaoke version of Beautiful Blue Sky - th-cam.com/video/LFFT5-3DEcw/w-d-xo.html
Mark E. Smith is dead. Long live Mark E. Smith!
I saw them in a super small place with only like 100 people, and everyone was dancing. This crowd is pathetic.
Sometimes I imagine a starving child in the wild watching a video like this.
Brandon Henderson Just did something like that watching Lenny Kravitz' Strut Tour Vienna video
ansinkingdeeper

David fucking Byrne
Jake Moskowitz I was thinking Daivid Byrne's and Lou Reed's love child.
Ian Curtis too
I wonder if talking heads had some influence.
And the fall?
i think maybe this is one band like the JOY DIVISION . amazing band
way more wire and television and the fall. maybe the Jam in a few tracks here and there.
:)
Ian Curtis is rolling in his grave. No comparisons.
lead singer going with the early beatles era paul mccartney headshakes...bold move but i think he pulled it off.
Nick Falletta he's no longer afraid to dance tonight.

I bet these guys love Joy Division
They'd gain mainstream success in a minute if they cut their songs by like, 2 minutes. Otherwise, a nice devoted following will probably be the fate of the band.
Fuck mainstream success.

J Beckmann Word. Anyone who says there isn't any good new music isn't looking hard enough.
I'm not sure about the whole mainstream success thing but I listened to sun coming down and I loved it, but sometimes I did feel like some of the songs could have been shorter.
Talking Heads 2.0
pfff... hipster's public.... damn!
What’s wrong Tim? Can’t produce the follow up? That bassist sure had some attitude when he was being recruited. Lol.
I want to like this band so much more than I actually do. IMO, Tim needs to lose the guitar so he can be freed up to deliver the lyrics in a more dynamic way. What are a few their songs with the best lyrics in your opinion?
genius.com/Ought-habit-lyrics
byrne played the guitar live all the time
