I used to be on Sebastian's (of Looking, Feeling, Smelling Great YT channel) FB open group of fragrance lovers/chatters. Anyways, several actual perfumers would also congregate there and one perfumer confirmed that indeed some of the testers would be purposely made in a stronger composition. In the fragrance industry, marketing is everything-- a much higher investment percentage than other industries-- so first impressions of testers and samples do well to give a wow factor in order to inspire a purchase.
I had to pause the video and compare my 2 bottles of Private Show, and yes, the tester that I've recently bought from fragrancenet is stronger than the one I got around 2 years ago at the store. I'm shocked! I also have 2 bottles of the Kim Kardashian Pure Honey, so I've compared them, and the tester is also stronger than the regular one!! Wow!
I’ve always felt testers were stronger. Also, I feel the nozzle sprays out more fragrance than a regular bottle. That’s just my experience with the testers I have purchased over the years. Nice haul.
Hi Sarah, thanks for your new video. I bought the Britney Spears one too because of your recommendation and I am really enjoying it. But if the two bottles have the same batch code, the juice should be the same too. Some perfumes, especially vanilla perfumes, get better and richer with their age. Maybe they were stored differently and the aging progress of the tester bottle is more processed. You could compare the amount of oil residue after spraying on your hand.
Ouu that Bagley bottle is so pretty 🦋 l love private show as well and I'm sad to say that I'm all out ,I wore that fragrance out lol 🤣 yes I truly believe that testers are stronger I have a tester of cashmere mist I bought years ago and it's still strong and just as lovely I think it's a trick they use to make us buy. La maison de La vanille was my first niche perfume I blind bought off Sephora back when it was sold there😭😭 they had them cheap enough to convince my mom to let me use her card when I was like 13. LOL
Wow! A lot of goodies! I like the vintage smelling perfumes as well, and the bottles of some of those are so pretty! I agree about the tester’s too. I’ve smelled too many of them and then bought the perfume to find that it smells somewhat different in strength, or subtle differences, but enough to notice. Hmm 🤔…go figure. Anyway, great video! I always make notes on the fragrances that peak my interest so I can read up on them, and try them out.🥰
Those watching in the uk, Britneys Private Show was selling at TK Maxx, and online at amnesty if that helps. I bought it on Sarah's recommendation and it's a bit of a beast on me personally. Yay someone talking about Badgley mischka. I got this one 2 years ago in a swap. Recently I saw it for a while at Burlington for 20 bucks for the large bottle. I really like it but there's one note that causes this weirdness on me so I've been trying to figure out how to wear it or it could just be my nose. A few times I've thought about selling it but never did because its kind of unique and different and I feel right when I get rid of it I'll want it Beck so I'm still working with it. And yes the bottle is so gorgeous💕

I have only bought testers of Private Show & have found the longevity to be excellent. I’m looking forward to your vintage perfume video. 💕
Hi Erin! It is strange that they are the same batch code but the actual juice is so different! It makes me wonder if it’s the batch of testers for that batch that maybe was run first with a different formula? It’s definitely different so there is something going on. My regular private show performs well for me but last night while I was filming I got the tester formulation on my sleeve and it was an absolute beast the the rest of the night. It’s crazy. I’m a believe now though that testers are run first with a different formulation. 🥰❤️🙏🏻
Sarah it’s a true story testers are made stronger and perform better and the sprayer is sometimes better, I knew someone who had a perfume shop many years ago and they informed me of that so I often get the testers. That one bottle is gorgeous but if it’s too flowery I won’t like it.

Good morning Sarah, I have noticed that Sebastian, The Perfume Guy buys tester bottles a lot, and I suspect he doesn't always mention it. He is pretty well connected with perfumers and marketing persons in the perfume industry. It wouldn't surprise me if he knows the testers are stronger than the bottle of fragrance sold to the general public in stores. Even if he doesn't know for sure, he's no dummy when it comes to fragrances. He must at least suspect it. Have a great weekend! Lisa
Hi Lisa!! There are definitely people out there who swear testers are different/better but I had et experienced it myself. Well, actually I think I did years ago with Prada Candy but didn’t think much of it. It does make me wonder if he knows something that we don’t. The people who don’t think it’s possible argue that it would be too expensive to do that. I was in manufacturing for many years and I can say it wouldn’t be any more expensive except for the materials. They could easily have a formulation for the testers that they run first and then a second one for the public that they run after. I don’t know? I’m sus now though. Lol ❤️🥰

I always buy testers just because they are priced cheaper. I have a smaller bottle of private show and the liquid is lighter then my 3.4 tester. Also the tester is stronger too
I have a huge "vintage"collection by default, lol, because I am vintage! I love that you like vintage perfumes. Oh and I did order LolitaLand last night. Today I wore my sample and my husband, who could give a flying hoot about my perfumes and NEVER comments said upon my walking into the room, "you smell like candy." Just like that, a comment, which was a thrill in itself. I'm not so sure I want to smell like candy though at my age :o) It does smell different from anything I own and I have several other Lolita Lempickas, so it's a house I do like a lot. oxJulia

Hi Sarah !! My favorite Maison de la Vanille's are the Mexique and the Givree de Antilles. Yum !! I still am on the hunt for the original Badgely Mishka edp from years ago...hard to find and kinda $$$$$. I have always been suspicious of the tester vs actual for years !! Some brands I found the tester way better...IMO...and other brands pretty much equal. Who knows ??? I sold off my Libre Intense...sadly....!!!....I want to have it again now !! @#$%! I have been so curious of the Bogner #1.... !!! But how/where to find it...?? I have always wanted to smell the Ginestet Botrytis! I have never smelled Private Show......should I...??? Hi Sarah-I'm interested in that chocolate scented vanilla. I find that line doesn't last long at all on me-I have the Madagascar one-but they're so nice and soft. I got the Badgley Mischka perfume last summer but didn't like it much, so I'll have to give it another try!

I'm sure you've tried Rihanna's Rebelle, but how do you rate that against Private Show? I really love Private Show but it's very fleeting on me. Loving Rebelle- to me it's a sweet mocha with ginger. Not the same but both lovely sweet coffee fragrances

I think testers are the bottom of the batch. I most of the time see tiny particles floating that leaves me to believe this conclusion. Also might explain it being stronger as maybe the aromas maybe have settled down to the bottom or sat longer to marinate. 🤷🏻♀️
